Had a frustrating experience with Safelite. I had an appointment on April 23rd in Arlington, MA to replace a cracked windshield in my direct line of sight. I left work early and lost pay to make the appointment. After waiting over an hour, I was told the replacement windshield was scratched and couldn't be used. They had already started working on my car without checking the glass first, so I then had to wait even longer for them to put everything back together completely wasting my time and gas. I was rescheduled, and now I'm being told to reschedule again during the workweek, which means losing even more income. Meanwhile, I'm still driving with a damaged windshield that may not pass Massachusetts inspection. Safelite advertises "Safelite repair, Safelite replace" and promotes convenience and reliability, but my experience has been the complete opposite. They did not follow through on what they promise. My safelite experience was one of the worst customer experiences I've had in a long time. I was referred to Safelite to fix my back glass after a bad storm by my insurance. Safelite cancelled my appointment three times. Each time they said that they did not have the part needed to fix my glass, and each time they rescheduled they said they would have the part. The second time they rescheduled, they rescheduled me via email at 10 PM the night before, and then said they had called me (when they did not) when I drove to their location for my service the next day. It was incredibly difficult to manage the AI phone tree in order to talk to anyone about my glass. Each time I talked to someone, no one seemed to care that I had been rescheduled. If I had not reached out again and again, my glass would not have been replaced. Took two week, and traveling to their location twice, for a service that was supposed to happen quickly on site. read more

The local guys at the Arlington shop couldn't have been better. When I dropped my car off, they were clear about how much time they needed. They also gave me a card with their LOCAL number in case I needed to check on anything. The guy warned me that Safelite does not publish local numbers so I should not lose it. This came in very helpful later when I had something come up and needed to delay my pick up. One other thing. Safelite administers windshield replacement for my insurance company. My vehicle has an upgraded Gorilla Glass windshield. I had read on forums hassles people had had getting their GG windshield replaced with a like piece of glass. It was no trouble for me. They installed a new OEM GG windshield for me without me having to push at all. All around, a smooth and hassle free experience. read more

I set up a claim through my insurance, and was able to set up an appointment time without having to contact Safelite directly. When I arrived to my appointment they couldn't find my reservation at first, so I called my insurance and she was able to help him find the reservation BUT he said "it's in a black hole, we can't take you today." .....whatever that means. So I drove there for nothing. Fine. So I scheduled a new appointment because I have a really big crack on my windshield. The second time I went there were no problems, which seemed like a much better experience than the first. EXCEPT that the rubber part was not sealed correctly and has now made scratches on top of my car because it flaps when I drive. Had a great experience with this location. Everyone that worked there was very nice and it was super easy to schedule and pay for via Geico. They replaced my window pretty quickly and were able to keep my stickers on which I found impressive since I know how much of a pain my town parking pass can be to get off in one piece. I have a Wrangler so I know I will be back to this location in the future read more

After posting the review, I got a customary "Sorry for what happened..." message from Safelite with promise of follow-up. Unfortunately, just like my earlier experience with customer rep on the phone, I just got empty promises with no real solutions. You could run into a competent tech and never have to experience the hassle that I have seen, but in case anything happens, this company does not seem to care to clean up their own mess. read more

I would use a different company. The glass is not as visually clear as Honda's, and some marks don't come off in my view. I bet they can buff them out, but not holding my breath. They also just let my key remote starter unit (originally attached to the old windshield, just hanging by two wires. I went and bought the 2-sided clear tape and stuck it on myself. Why would they space on that? So it doesn't leak, is the best I can say. Glad insurance covered it! read more

It's really unfortunate that Safelite has bought out most of the major windshield replacement companies in the area. They're pretty much the only game in town and it's reflected in their poor to non existent customer service. They simply don't care about the customer and doing the right thing. My poor customer service experience started over a week ago while trying to book an appointment. I gave them my vin number and my insurance policy number. Somehow neither could be verified in their system. I made an appointment anyway to have a technician come to me and replace my windshield. Safelite graciously offered a five hour window of time when the technician could show up. Two hours into my wait I received a call from Safelite saying that I would be responsible for paying $1500 out of pocket since they couldn't verify the insurance policy. **Note I was able to make a 60 second phone call to verify I had full replacement coverage with no deductible. This didn't matter. The call ended with the CS rep saying "Oh by the way. Your replacement windshield was damaged in transport. We can't replace it today anyway" I get it things happen so I booked another appointment for several days later to try it again. Once again two hours into my five hour afternoon window I get a call from the technician this time letting me know the windshield was damaged again in transport. The technician stated that I should have received a call that morning letting me know the appointment would need to be rescheduled. So after rearranging my schedule and waiting two hours I'm back to square one. No apology from Safelite and no effort to make things right. Buyer beware here. If you're looking for lackluster effort and poor service you have certainly located the right windshield replacement company. read more

So I was driving on 95 last week & a rock kicked up & chipped my windshield- it was a fairly sizable chip & it had a few cracks starting to spider out from it, so naturally I was nervous about it completely cracking. So I called my insurance company's car glass number late last night & they made it super easy to schedule an appointment NEXT DAY- i really thought I'd have to wait at least til next week, so that was a happy surprise. Also, because it was a repair & not a replacement, there was no out of pocket payment, which these days of everything costing an arm & a leg, was great. I brought my car to safelite in Arlington, a couple miles from my house on Mass Ave. The guys there are really nice, very explanatory & quick- from start to finish it was about a half hour. And even though the chip was on the larger side, they were able to fix it to where it's almost invisible (I understand that they can't always guarantee that you won't be able to see the spot depending on the damage). I wish I had thought to take before & after pics, but trust me, my mechanic husband is a perfectionist about this stuff & when he saw it he said "wow they did a great job!" All in all, it was a great experience & now I don't have to worry about my windshield cracking in half whenever I accidentally hit a pothole, which is another issue altogether. So if you ever need your car's glass repaired/ replaced, I highly recommend the guys at Safelite in Arlington- they don't disappoint! read more

Went to the Arlington location and had a drop and go appt. Didnt realize that that meant my car would be done at night. Business closes at 5 so when I didnt hear back I grabbed an uber and arrived at 4:55. Found out they hadnt even touched my car yet, it would be an hour before getting my car in and then another hour for the windshield. It wouldnt have even been so frustrating had I not had to deal with an attitude of the cashier who kept rolling his eyes and making snide comments. I had never had a problem with Safelite in the past which is why I chose them again. NEVER AGAIN. Avoid at all costs unless you want to encounter grown men who act like mean girls and stand in an office reeking of cigarettes. read more

Unbelievable. Terrible, terrible service. If you just go to a Saft elite, go to Everett. Where to begin? Rock hits windshield on highway. Call safelite, make an appt. have to bring it in because there's a camera in the windshield/radar for brake assist which needs to be calibrated. Dropped off my car at safelite Arlington. "Well call when it's done". They called- "So, we did put a new windshield on, and when we were setting it, it cracked. But you can totally drive it until we can order a new one"...sounds SAFE. So, not that I have a job or anything to do with my time, so I made the second appt. dropped my car off back in Arlington Got a call to pick it up. I start driving away and realize that the whole plastic piece I posted below, was on my passenger seat. I turned around went back to safelite. "Oh yeah, we were wrestling with this so we left it there". Ummm, okay?? Put it back on!!! So, he tried to put it back on. Multiple times and failed. Sorta of made it fit together and the first bump I hit, the picture happened. I knew it wouldn't stay but at this point was so frustrated I wanted my car and keys back. They didn't want me going to the dealership despite them having their chance to fix it- it would have voided their warrantee. The guy even tried to lie to me about what he said and kept trying to have me bring it back so he could fix it. Fix it again? No thanks. Took it to Everett and Pablo couldn't have been nicer. Ordering a replacement piece and got it in place just like it was supposed to be in less than a minute with some brains and patience. Unreal. read more

Totally horrible and unacceptable experience. I booked an afternoon appointment online and received a text message confirmation. When I arrived on time, the location was completely empty. Doors locked. No one inside. I drove 1/2 hr to get there. Then, I waited 20 min on hold with the national customer service line while I waited at the store and then another 30 min on my drive home, total of nearly an hour on hold. No response. Luckily I didn't pay in advance for the service online because I'm pretty sure there is no one I would be able to speak to about getting money back. This is a national company and the lack of professionalism with not being present for a scheduled appointment, not even telling me that it was cancelled, and then not having a person available for an hour on a customer service line is totally unacceptable. read more

Same thing the day of the appointment. Everything done on time, clean and accurate, and with a smile. Lots of negative reviews that seem to revolve around scheduling/insurance but had no problem scheduling online and having the work done. Their service is quite expensive but unfortunately, Safelite has been buying up other window repair services so you don't have a lot of other options. I was initially very skeptical as it was an expensive undertaking that I had to go through to pass inspection and the reviews of Safelite and this location didn't instill confidence. That being said, I had a great experience. I think the entire process took roughly a hour from driving in and driving out with a fully replaced windshield at my appointment time. I had the unfortunate pleasure of paying out of pocket so I can't speak to how coordinating with the insurance company works but from purely a services perspective, I'm very satisfied. The tech (I believe it was Matt) was very accommodating, friendly, and above all provided a good service quickly. read more

Canceled on me twice in a row. The second time, kept me waiting 8 hours before cancelling, 4 hours past the end of my appointment window. I called them twice, they told me I was next on the list (4 hours before they canceled) and that someone would be there within an hour (30 minutes before they canceled.) I lost a whole day. They apologized after the first day they canceled, but if they'd meant it they might have prioritized me on the rescheduled date. read more

Jason worked on it immediately at the appointment time and finished in one hour. He is very cordial. The only reason he missed one star is due to the missing installation of the wire cover on the rearview mirror (autodimming feature). He fixed it immediately when I went back. read more

Had a rock fly up on the highway and cracked my windshield. I drove into the Arlington office and they had me setup with an appt for the next day. When I went in, they greeted me at the door, and had my car finished in about an hour!!! They even washed all the windows and vacuumed my floor. I was amazed with how easy this was and they guys did an amazing job. Highly recommend to give them a try!! read more
