This review is overdue! Last May, I was in an accident where the other driver turned in front of my car into my lane with no warning. I sustained damage to my passenger side bumper, hood, and passenger door. Three Sons Auto Body was the recommended body shop by my insurance company. Dealing with Mark at Three Sons was easy! He let me know how many days it would take to do the repairs/paint and set up the rental car for me. The morning I dropped my car off, Enterprise met me at the shop with my rental, and I was able to just return it there when my repairs were done which was really convenient. A few days after I picked my car up, I noticed that there were some issues with the paint job. I called Mark to discuss it and he immediately wanted to make it right. We made arrangements for a time for me to come by so he could look at the car. He was very apologetic and said he hadn't seen this particular issue with the paint in many years. He contacted the paint vendor and had me bring my car back in a few days to be repainted. Three Sons picked up the cost of my rental car while they fixed the issue with the paint which was great. Mark was friendly and professional. The care they took in making sure I was satisfied with their work was much appreciated. I would definitely bring my car to Three Sons again if I needed any repairs and would recommend to my friends and family. read more

I brought my car in for some fairly easy body work. I stated I wanted the front splitter, mirror cap, hood, and lower rear door refinished all in the same green. I got a quote from them from them for around $1400 which included them dissembling the car, painting it, and then reconditioning it before picking it up. When I arrived the first time, my driver mirror was still unpainted. The front splitter was painted black not green, and the hood was painted extremely poorly. They also never cleaned my car even though I was charged for it. So I had to bring it back a second time, showed them my hood was still unpainted in some areas, the car was never even cleaned even though I paid for it and my mirror was still unpainted. What appeared to be the owner came out and realized how poor of a job they did he was very nice and stated they would correct the issues but I'd have to leave my car there again, which was fine. When I picked my car up for the final time it was cleaned, no sanding dust all over my interior and exterior. But the hood was touched up very poorly, instead of repainting the whole panel again they just touched up the areas they missed very poorly instead. My mirror cap was painted green, but they broke the mounting clips and instead of telling me they broke it or getting a new mirror they used double sided tape to stick it on since can't be secured with the clips they broke and it fell off on my way home. The mirror glass shakes violently on the highway indicating they broke more than just the mirror cap that was supposed to be touched and didn't tell me they broke either. read more

If you check out my other reviews, you will see that it is usually a good experience that prompts me to write a review. Something has to have gone pretty wrong for me to feel strongly enough to write a bad one. Something went very, very wrong here. Last winter my partner and I each, on separate occasions, tore the corners on our bumper cover. I don't drive very often, so we'd just taped the one side and let it go for a while. When we decided to drive home for the holidays we knew that we would have to get it fixed. At the beginning of December I called to make an appointment with these folks. The soonest they could get us in was Dec 18th, but I was assured that it was a simple repair and I'd have the car back before the 22nd (when we're making the drive). Here are the events that occurred when we arrived that morning: 3Sons: Do you have insurance paperwork? Me: No, I checked online and it looks like it will cost less than my deductible. 3Sons: Did we do an estimate? Me: No, you just told me to bring it in for the repair. 3Sons: Then you don't have any idea what it will cost. Let me take a look at it. --Go outside to car-- 3Sons: You need a new bumper. MyPartner: A new bumper or bumper cover? 3Sons: ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL ME MY BUSINESS? DO YOU THINK YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS THAN ME??? Me: Why are you getting mad? He just wants to clarify what you're saying. 3Sons: I'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS, BUT IF YOU'RE SUCH EXPERTS I DON'T HAVE TO DO THE WORK. DO YOU WANT AN ESTIMATE?? Me: I don't understand this. We brought the car here because you've done work for us before and it was a really good experience. 3Sons: IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW SO MUCH TAKE YOUR CAR. DO YOU WANT AN ESTIMATE OR NOT?? Me: Yes, but I don't understand why you're being so mean. --We go inside. He starts writing the quote. My partner and I share looks saying we're really upset and want to leave - but we can't because at this point it's too late to go anywhere else and the car is not drivable for long distances in the condition its in.-- 3Sons: Here's your quote Me: That's in the ballpark of what I would expect to pay, but you've been so unpleasant that it makes it hard to ask you to do it. 3Sons: THEN LEAVE. HERE ARE YOU KEYS. Me: It's not that simple. We don't have time to take it anywhere else. 3Sons: HERE ARE YOUR KEYS. IF YOU DON'T WANT US TO DO THE WORK, YOU CAN LEAVE. Me: I DO want you to do the work, we don't have a choice. 3Sons: YOU CAN LEAVE. TAKE YOUR KEYS. Me: I want you to do the work. 3Sons: FINE. IT WILL BE READY TOMORROW AFTERNOON. We were both so shaken up when we left. I have never been yelled at by a stranger before, much less a stranger who we were going to pay a decent sum of money to. I will say that when we went to pick up the car we dealt with someone else, Dave, I believe, and it was a totally pleasant experience. And the car looks great. But be wary if you choose to use them. One of their people has a temperament that suggests that we will someday see him on the news after he's gone into the place with a semi-automatic weapon. read more

Echoing many other reviews on here-- absolutely phenomenal work by Mark & crew at Three Sons. I rear-ended a car on an exit ramp, going about 30 miles per hour, so the front left of my car was pretty much crumpled like a soda can. The team restored it to good-as-new and in a warranted amount of time; I brought my car in as "low-priority" since I live in the city and don't do too much driving, telling them they could take their time. They spearheaded all the paperwork / communication with my insurance & car rental and made the whole process so simple for someone like myself with virtually no experience in this protocol. Some people mention the demeanor / attitude of the staff, but this is Boston-- they got the job done without any of the extra bullshit. read more

Although, my car only required a paint job to fix a few scratches, I don't have any reasons to not give these guys 5 stars! They beat my expectations. Based on the earlier reviews here, I knew that these guys were really good at what they did. And I have to agree on that. I can't even tell where the scratches are now. Its as good as new! But what I didn't expect was how quickly they got the job done. I was told that it would take about 3 days for the car to be ready. But they fixed it in less than 2 business days. All the paperwork and payment was carried out between my insurance company (Liberty Mutual) and Threesons. All I had to do was drop off my car and then pick it up, literally. Someone hit my car door while I was parked (I could elaborate on this with a great degree of vitriol, but I'll refrain for the sake of civility and brevity), and like the mysterious Charles O., Liberty Mutual referred me to Three Sons. I had just enough time to check out the one review on Yelp while on the phone with Liberty, and said yes since I wanted my car fixed ASAP. I was a bit worried to have picked the "default" option, but Three Sons turned out to be great! They're a bit terse with service, but they have things under control. They finished the repair exactly when promised, matched the paint perfectly, and fixed a scratch that was on the door at no extra cost. Nice! Even better, I originally thought I might be held liable, so I told Liberty I'd rather just get a check from them rather than going through some weird billing snafu. Fortunately I wasn't, but that meant I didn't have a check on hand when I went to pick up my car. (Pro tip: Three Sons doesn't take credit cards of any sort.) They let me take my car back right away with a promise to mail them a check! Awesome! Solid place, solid people, solid repair. read more

Can't see any reason to take away a star here. I just picked my car up, they did a great job repairing my bumper after some jerk in Brookline backed in to my parked car. Beyond that, they were a "preferred shop" for my insurer (Liberty Mutual) and were great about having my car ready in the promised time (it was done early actually!) and helping arrange my Enterprise pick up. Amazing customer service! The two brothers that own it were both extremely nice and helpful. One of the owners even went out of his way to try to help me find a sandblaster, as far as taking my bicycle to a nearby shop for me. Really above and beyond expectations! My 2006 Mini Cooper got rear-ended and needed about $2000 worth of work done. Three Sons did an incredible job replacing my bumper and matched the paint perfectly. Our vehicle was rear-ended in October, 2019. We took it to Three Sons Auto Body in Waltham, MA because Three Sons was marked as a preferred repair shop on a list provided by our insurance company and it was convenient to our home. Mark, the owner, did the vehicle intake efficiently without event. He called to let us know the repair was completed one week later. The repair was immaculate. The original cost matched the insurance company estimate, and we don't know if there were any final adjustments. Owner was a complete jerk. Show up for an estimate and approach the building as he's swearing and barking orders at his workers. I say Hi how are you doing? and he barks at me what I was there for. Fine. Everyone has bad days. He goes over to my car LITERALLY takes a 4 second look at the damage...NO NOTES, NOTHING. Then yells at me to get my registration. I am so pleased with what this shop did for me! I brought my minivan in after a run-in with a column in my parking garage, and it had some pretty significant damage. I decided that I wanted to get a new, smaller car instead of repairing mine. Mark promised to reattach the bumper and fix the paint for me so that it would be more presentable for trade in. I am very pleased to say that they did an awesome job! The work and color match are 100 % accurate! I read on yelp about them and decided to give them a try. Go around shopping and get an idea of what other places charge. The criticism for this shop is solely about someone feeling rudely treated, not about their work. They might have a tighter staffing, and therefore might be stressed out once in awhile. Don't take this personal, should it happen, and stay calm! Others might be more "proficient" in their manners, but you will have to pay 75 % more (in my case) for it. I myself cannot speak a bad word about them. They were very nice and easy to work with. It took a bit longer maybe, but that was a good time for teaching my daughter (who ran with my car into hubby's car) that having a car is a privilege. This car had been at a way more expensive shop before and they didn't do an as perfect color match as Three Sons. Pay them in cash or check so they won't have to raise their prices. The one time I had my car worked on by Three Sons several years ago, they did a beautiful (5 star) job. Therefore, when I needed body work done last January, I returned to them. The person in the office became very impatient when I asked him for a breakdown of the pricing--I wasn't going through insurance this time and I was looking at having several things done. Terrible customer service! I bought my car less than a year ago from a private party and recently the pain began peeling on the fender. I found out that about a year ago the previous owner had it repaired and painted at 3 Sons, so I went to them to see if they would stand by their work. The man I met with told me that since I wasn't the owner when the work was done, they don't cover it, even though it was only a year ago. Had I been the previous owner that would be differet. Um how does a different owner impact the warranty on their work. He practically pushed me out of his office, wasn't apologetic nor did he even look at the car. I just got my 2010 Ford Focus back from 3 Sons and they did a fantastic job! I had a minor car accident that required a new side panel and headlight. They gave me a reasonable estimate that was very close to the insurance adjuster. They were recommended by the Watertown Ford repair shop so I knew I was in good hands. I left my car with them on Monday and picked it up on Wednesday morning. The blue paint and the stripes that were repaired were excellent and you wouldn't even know I had been in an accident! GREAT JOB and I would highly recommend them for auto repairs!! read more

We've dealt satisfactorily Three Sons before. This time was different. Before I showed up, my wife asked one of the owners, Mark, what could be done about our damaged front bumper. He said, You need a bumper cover. She asked if there was any way it could be repaired. He said, dismissively, Look, I didn't damage the bumper -- you did. You need a bumper cover. A few minutes later I arrived, and joined them in the office where he was printing out an estimate. I looked at the printed estimate and said, Do you think there's any way it could be repaired? He said that by the time the bumper was removed, bonded, sanded, painted, etc., it would cost almost as much as a new bumper. My spouse said, When I asked you that same question out in the parking lot, why didn't you just give me that answer? At that, the owner took back the estimates and threw them away. He said, "That's okay. We don't have to do business. We're done. I don't want to do business with people like you." We just left, kind of shellshocked, without another word. In retrospect, I regret that I didn't at least ask him what he meant by "people like you." read more
