A rock hit my windshield while driving on the Southern State Parkway and the crack ran down the glass. GEICO sent me to Safe in Freeport. I received service far above my expectations. The technicians were extremely accommodating. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment and they explained to me what needed to be done. They have a comfortable waiting area with WiFi. I listened to SiriusXM on my phone played games, and watched a movie all on my iPad. I even got some crocheting done. After about 3 hours, my car was done. I highly recommend this location! I can't speak for all Safelite locations, but I can give my opinion on the Safelite located at 210 W Sunrise Hwy in Freeport, NY. On November 14th, a Safelite technician came to my house to replace my windshield and in doing so, he damaged my car (removed paint from one side of the frame around the windshield). I immediately called my insurance company to report the damage, who in turn connected me with Safelite customer service. First, I was told that someone would come to take pictures of the damage, then I was told that I needed to bring the car in so the manager could assess the damage. Due to a family emergency and the fact that I work in the city, I wasn't able to get to Safelite in Freeport until Friday, November 21st. The manager looked at the missing paint area and assessed that the damage was done prior to the replacement. He then preceded to show me pictures supposedly taken prior to making the replacement. Needless to say, I know that there was no paint missing from my car prior to the technician replacing the windshield. Safelite's adamant deniability is appalling. I will never use their service again and will never recommend them to anyone. I will also be posting my complaint to every social outlet available. read more

Came in because the website clearly states "rest easy while we verify your coverage and file your claim." Unfortunately beware.. High priced, unreliable even after confirming appointment, was canceled on the day of. Ruining my plans and offering to fix my glass on my car 4 days later; The excuse was noone was available. Sad, you want to support local businesses and this is what you get. OMG. #1, too many commercials on TV for safelite and all the supposedly good work they are known for. 100% NOT true. I know nothing about glass repair, car glass installation or recalibrating the necessary software for a modern car, but evidently neither does Safelite of Freeport. Our car had a unrepairable crack in the front windshield. Upon dropping off the car, everything seemed OK, but once picking up the car, it was evident, they did NOT properly calibrate the necessary software for the vehicle nor properly reinstalled the rain sensor. We brought the vehicle back and they "supposedly" recalibrated it but it still did not work. We had no choice but go to the vehicle manufacturer and they recalibrated the software, but the rain sensor only worked for a short while. The REAL problem was the improper installation by Safelite of the adhesive/rubberized material to hold the rain sensor onto the glass. The ONLY way this was finally properly fixed, my son, who formerly worked for this cars manufacturer, reinstalled, this time properly, the adhesive material for the sensor and now, it works perfectly. As for Safelite? I would NEVER recommend such bad workmanship. read more

I originally had the glass replaced by a mobile tech. After the install there was wind/water leakage and the rain sensor was installed incorrectly. I brought it to the Freeport shop for repair. The replacement glass was not delivered to the store but the tech already removed the incorrectly installed windshield and dropped it. Without any windshield I was forced to wait at the facility while they drove to get another windshield. What was promised to be a 1.5 hour install has become a 5+ hour repair. The only response from customer care is that they are sorry but the repair would be completed in one day. Because of the delay I had to take off more time from work and pay someone to take a cab and pickup my daughter from daycare. I will never use safelite again based in the customer care response. I understand that mistakes happen but after 4+ mistakes I expect more. read more

I would give less than 1 star if it were possible. Their commercials are so full of easy promises that make it seem like using their business will see your broken fixed promptly , even on the same day. First I had to wait 3 days and when they came they brought the wrong glass and piece I required was in New Jersey and I wouldn't be able to come back until the following week. When they came around again supposedly with the correct glass as ordered by the first unsuccessful installer it was still unbelievably wrong and they fed me the same line that the correct piece of glass was again in a New Jersey warehouse. They told me me it was going to yet another few days. This time I said no, forget it . This had gone along too long and I was going to use Star glass repair on Meechum ave. Star happened to be excellent. They ordered the glass and it was in the next day. It took about 30 minutes and it was done while I waited. Don't fall for Safelite's promises of efficiency. They didn't even care about stringing you along and making promises they can't deliver on. read more

I needed my windshield changed, and was able to schedule service through my insurance company. I received an appointment the same week I called. Initially I was discouraged because I received a 5 hour time frame, but the day of, I received a call from my technician giving me a 15 minute window so we didn't have to sit around and wait all day. We received both e-mail and text confirmations with the technicians picture. I watched with my daughters while he replaced the windshield and our tech was happy to answer all the questions myself and my 3 year old could think of. We are very satisfied with our service.
