Horrible experience here choose any location other than the queens location trust me. I had an appointment to repair my windshield and when I arrived, I was told that they did not have my glasses so I would have to make another appointment for a week later. This was already inconvenient because I do not live in Queens And felt like I should have gotten a call instead of me traveling there and being told they don't have the glass. When I arrive a week later they put the glass on fine but the windshield wiper I purchased was never put on and in a rush I didn't even check and realized later they had forgotten it. So now I have to find my way Bach for a third time and now I'm just handed a windshield blade because they don't replace the arm just the blade. This is something that should have been explained before it was charged. Dislocation was such a disappointment. I've been to Safelite in Manhattan and had such a great experience. I don't understand why the Queens location is not trained well. you guys never apologize. You never try to fix the situation instead just basically brushed off. Bad bad business. read more

I recently discovered water dripping down the inside of my rear window. There were no obvious cracks and I was directed to Safelite by my insurance company. Not sure where it was coming from I wanted someone with a trained eye to evaluate the situation. As I was explaining my problem to the receptionist one of the managers came over and volunteered to take a look. He popped off a molding and while there was water accumulated in the bottom of this piece there was no obvious damage to either my window or the adhesive near where the leak seemed to be originating. He advised me to take my car to a body shop which I did. While there we discovered the brake light on the top of my hatch had loosened up. A pile if gunk accumulated on the gasket which was cleaned and the light reinstalled. While I didn't have any work preformed by Safelite, I was impressed with the service I did receive and will be going back should I ever be in need of their services. Update to my review. July 2020 my windshield had a close encounter with a pebble leaving a nickel size ding. I I had Safelight do the repair. We arranged for an on-site visit. Safelight kept in constant contact via text and email. The technician who was assigned the repair was very professional and polite young man. Amazing technician. Came on time. Live in the city and we had to move to a different street so his truck could be located by my car. He found a location he could park and so could i. He worked so neatly and diligently to remove my windshield. My windshield was really glued in and it took an hour kist to remove it. He used various tool and techniques to minimize damage and ensure safety. I am very appreciative of the work by our Safelite technician . Highly recommend. His name was Alex and job was in NYC. Horrible communication. Lack of confidence with them showing up to an appointment... 8/25/2017: Fixed a crack in my windshield. Cracks were still showing from the inside so I called and asked them to replace the windshield. No problem. They needed to order the part and it would arrive on 8/28/2017. I scheduled an appointment for 8/31/2017. 8/31/2017: Appointment window from 8am-10pm. No show and zero communication. I called and the dispatcher statedy a previous appointment was having complications and they wouldn't know when they could come out. I took work off to be home to handle this. I was furious. I rescheduled for 9/2/2017. 9/2/2017: Appointment window from 12pm-5pm. No show and zero communication. I received an email stating my appointment was rescheduled to 9/5/2017. I immediately called to inquire what was going on. Upon calling Safelite, they tried reaching out to the branch multiple ways and there was no answer. I live 2 blocks away from the shop so I decided to go up there and see what the hell was going on. The staff was nice and got the Manager for me. He started looking and found that my part was never received and that he doesn't know how it happened. He also had no idea why no one communicated this to me. He did say if the part was in they would handle it that moment. He went to look...no part. Bottom line: -Impossible to reach Branch directly -No communication when late or not showing up to appointments -Nice staff -Best to deal with them in-shop read more

I actually had a great experience at this location. I had a cracked windshield that my insurance was covering and they directed me to this location. I arrived at 9 am for my appointment, left my keys with the front desk and was told there were people ahead of me. There were 2 other customers in the waiting room. Based on the other reviews, I was prepared to wait at least 3 hours. I believed this so much I even brought a book and snacks with me and left to grab a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee at Kat's corner cafe a few blocks away. I took my time, enjoying my breakfast at the park nearby and came back around 10:20 am to see my car in the shop. Not too long after, Angel brought me my keys, explained what they did, and informed me on the follow up care. I was literally in the driver's seat at 10:45 am- an hour and 45 minutes since I stepped foot inside the door. Service was great, friendly, and extremely efficient. Thanks! read more

My windshield was replaced in December, the first rainfall in January my console was soaked, cup holders filled with water... I call to complain...no apology for the shoddy work, i'm told "no problem, bring the car in tomorrow and we'll repair the windshield." I drop off my car at 9am, the rep tells me "the car will be ready in 2 hours, we'll call you" . 1pm (4 hours later) I call to ask about my car and the response is "oh yeah, its ready." Zero stars for customer service. Safelite replaced a windshield on my car in late November. I originally scheduled a mobile service at my home, but the technician called that morning to ask if we could bring the car to the shop because of the low temperature. I agreed, to ensure the repair was done that day. The work done was fine, so far no issue with the replacement. However, Safelite still charged the mobile fee despite the fact that the service was done at the shop. Two phone calls to the office and promises of a refund, a month later no credit issued. Contacted Safelite corporate office and they were totally useless. I have disputed the overcharge with the credit card company, but no reason why this shouldn't have been taken care of after the first phone call to point out the mistake. Can't recommend Safelite after this experience. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Everyone was kind, courteous and the installation of window was done 3 days later ONLY because of the COVID-19 AND because I was actually in NYC Manhatttan. Absolute garbage. A truck flung a rock at my 2017 Forester and cracked the windshield beyond repair so I had to get it replaced. GEICO suggested Safelite so I just went with it. They replaced the windshield, and I thought all my problems were gone. Nope. Small pieces of broken glass, too small to see, were all over my dash. I cut myself on one of them. Now the real killer is that, apparently, new windshields come with a protective film on top. This film causes an unbelievable amount of fogging that simply does not go away. It wasn't even raining and I had the wipers on full blast so I could use those tiny bursts of vision to get home. I had to buff off the film by going through my windshield with a microfiber cloth a couple of times. Now it gets even better. My brand new wipers, something GEICO said I should get, absorbed that film, so even after I've buffed the windshield, the wipers reapply it in streaks. The tape they left on my windshield left some pretty solid adhesive marks on both the paint and my windshield. I had to use a razor blade and soap to slowly scrape all the adhesive off. TLDR: Broken glass on my dash, adhesive marks on my paint and windshield, film over windshield that causes fog that doesn't go away, film that screws up your windshield wipers. Bruh read more

Gina at the front desk gave me comfort even though replacing the rear tailgate window glass was something they could not do (no new part available, which is all Safelite will use) on my 1996 Saturn. I went there because they are accepted by my insurance company (State Farm; also highly recommended), and had replaced a broken windshield on the same car for me last year. Manager Arnold immediately OK'd "crash wrapping" the damaged area (knocked out by a vandal while I was at a N.Y.Yankees game) and then, when the job had to be taken to another shop to install a junkyard part, charged me nothing AND kept the rear-windowless car safely locked inside a gated area of their property for 4 DAYS (!) until my part was found by another garage. More: Safelite Astoria kept up their nationwide search even though I informed Gina that I had the other local shop looking for it when the window was listed as 'limited availability'. "What if you both find the part?" I asked, "What then?" Friendly and matter of fact, a Gina immediately answered, "Oh, no problem," she answered. "If that happens, we'll just ship the one we find back where it came from." As if that was everyday. I think almost any garage would have told made to take the car away desire the missing window, as soon as they learned they could not fix it. Now, the car is repaired (by someone else). Disappointing experience. Scheduled a mobile service appointment, they cancelled it last minute. Originally the chip was covered under insurance since it was the size of a quarter. The following day due to the weather the chip increased and they recommending the entire windshield replaced. I was furious, asked to speak to the manager but he left early for the day. A centimeter in length hairline crack that somehow got nicked on my front windshield is no match for the potholes and bumps of the New York City streets. Not noticeable at all, so I never worried about it. A friend saw it and warned me but I didn't worry about it. Six months later that tiny little hairline crack split like a hammer hitting a block of ice upward and downward to a hairline crack the length of six inches, then two months past and that crack became the shape best described as a coat hanger. There are many good auto glass repair shops out there but once I got my quote I didn't even bother because it was a great price: $230.00. That is for my model and make of my car only. That price won't be the same for anyone else unless you have my make, model and year of my car because it varies depending on your car. I saw the receipt for a 2004, Honda Accord, done with glass and labor for $304.00. The other reason is they are a reputed known company specialized in that particular industry, why even put trust of workmanship into an unknown auto glass repair shop? The waiting room is as if brand new and super clean. With some ads on the wall and comfortable chairs with a soft mesh back. There's a Keurig machine to make green tea or coffee. There's a flat screen television to watch in which you can change the channel as entertainment to past time. However, there could have been more magazines to read, there was only two, one in which did not relate to me at all, though it is a comfortable room to wait in. Even the bathrooms is newly tiled and clean. I set my appointment and show up exactly on time. I check in at the front desk and the entire process was said to be two and a half hours, it took two hours and forty five minutes before I was finally ready to pay and go (no problem at all, an extra fifteen minute over schedule is no biggie at all because I assume the molding has to dry). Near the Safelite facility where they do the work is a restaurant down the street and the Steinway & Sons piano company is down the street as well. Across the street in the 37th Avenue Plaza is a lot with a Bank of America, a all in one pizza-deli-rice and beans spot, a Chinese take-out, a low end clothing shop and a market. I check out all the businesses in the plaza because I have two and a half hours to kill. But basically that's pretty much all there is to do in the area. Twenty minutes into me shopping and grabbing food the installer calls me and just to go over what he was installing: a generic aftermarket windshield with a slight tint on the top. I say that's fine. I have to say that their customer relations is great, from the moment I check in at the front desk, to when the installer was inspecting my car, until the very end another installer went over everything to make sure I was satisfied and made sure I had my keys. They were professionally polite and kept it all neat. It's only been half the day but everything is properly done right: clean, no dirt, no marks, smooth work thus far. Down the road if anything, I'll be sure to update. But I do really recommend Safelite. I was seriously thinking about giving a five star rating and if someone else did I would not disagree at all but this location could add a few things to make it even better. read more

Terrible place!! I got my windshield replaced right before the pandemic. Right after driving away with my new windshield I could hear an odd noise coming from the windshield (as though the windshield was moving), and that noise was always there when I drove the car; I live in the city so I barely drive the car. A week after getting it replaced I started noticing a crack form from the bottom right corner of the windshield. I called them to have it replaced and they said they couldn't do anything about it and that it wasn't their fault. The guy looked at the place of origin from the crack and diagnosed that it was the type of impact that they don't cover and that they only cover "stress" issues. The worker made the conclusion just by looking at it that it was the type of crack they don't cover (scam artist). And again, the crack started growing right after Safelite replaced it. They told me to pay for a new one which is $360-$400. The worker did nothing and the supervisor did nothing, taking zero responsibility and offering no solution. You pay for a product that is faulty then you have to pay full price again for that faulty product. SCAM!!! And read the other reviews; you'll see that other people have the same issue. Had my windshield fixed thru Geico and the process was quick and easy. The staff are friendly and the job was done quickly and properly. The lifetime guarantee is a very big plus as well. Hopefully will never need it but good to know its there. Did have to go back a second time as windshield for my car had to be factory original and this should have been in their database. I live near by so not a big issue but I would suggest if you use them to verify ahead of time if your car can use their windshield or like me requires factory issued. read more

Do not come here for your glass repair, unless you have an eternity to wait. Safelite is no longer interested with schedules or proper scheduling. Someone broke into my window and so I scheduled a glass replacement the next day. I came a little early with the hopes to be done early. The lady at the front "you are early for your time slot, but we'll inspect it in a few minutes." Two hours later, they still did not inspect my car. I had to wait an additional 40 minutes to get my car inspected. After about 4 hours, I finally had my car finished. There was a couple who came in an hour after me, and they had their car taken care of because they complained earlier than I do. TIP: Do not come here. If you have no choice (insurance only uses this place), then make sure you complain early on. Complain to the front lady and the workers. Someone will eventually check your car read more

The worst customer service you can ever experience. After having three mobile appointments where they came to me with the wrong windshield for a Range Rover HSE, I decided to go to their Astoria in-shop location hoping to rectify the issue. On my 4th try, they tried to offer me an after market windshield after I requested an original from the dealer. The 5th time, after waiting for an hour and a half they told me the windshield they ordered was damaged. On the sixth appointment, after giving them an extra day to get the windshield in, they had not received it yet and wasted my time. In 2018, there are sooo many ways to communicate with a customer to let them know if you need to reschedule because the equipment has not been received yet. Had construction material from the GWB fall on my car and, thankfully, only take out the glass on my rear hatch (hatchback sedan). Being Thanksgiving we were given a Sat. appointment by our insurance company. The tech came to where we stored the car to protect it from the elements and was done within 90 mins. He was cordial and professional and cleaned up after himself as well as can be expected without access to an electrical outlet (he had a small vacuum on the truck but its power was limited).
