Never had any type of issue involving the glass on my car until a rock hit my windshield while driving on the freeway in a heavy rainstorm. Initially the crack was so tiny that I hadn't noticed it, but unfortunately they tend to grow over time and it expanded to a 15" long crack on my passenger side. My insurance, Geico, suggested Safelite and stated that they could possibly repair the crack instead of replacing the entire windshield. They can also send a technician out to your home to do so, but I knew the entire thing needed to be replaced, so I scheduled an appointment at their Tacoma location. Made the appointment for 10:00am, but I was a bit worried because I arrived at 10:10am. The two employees (one female possibly named Rose and one male with blonde hair) joked about it but said I could still get my windshield fixed. To my surprise they had already ordered the replacement part, and said it would take an hour to and hour and a half since there were a few people ahead of me. Service ended up being completed around 12pm. **Service Cost(s): $$$ ($350+) **Quality: So far the replacement windshield looks great and is holding up. It's not the exact model from the car company, but it works and that's what counts. They can get the OEM replacements, but it'll cost you a lot more. **Location: It's in South Tacoma near multiple other auto repair shops and some dealerships. The parking area is small, as is the waiting area, but it at least is possible for you to wait there while your car is being repaired. I opted to walk around the area to the Starbucks-- which is a good 10 minute walk up the street. They also have a mini coffee and water station in the building. **Service: Rose, the woman at the front desk was professional and personable. The technician who worked on my car and the other male employee at the front with blonde hair were the same. After dealing with a few deceptive auto repair shops, this was a much better experience. read more

If it were possible I would give this a negative # review. I had a windshield replaced about one month ago. I was talked into getting new wipers at that time, (this was in the Olympia location). Yesterday while driving down I-5 the passenger side windshield wiper flew completely off! I have been on the phone and on the computer for over 45 minutes and have talked to 3 of their operators all in an attempt to get in touch with the local Olympia office to get this matter fixed. All without success! Seems that Safelite has such poor customer service, (not only in their ability to change a simple wiper blade but in reaching their service department) that have no need to have any customers at all. read more

Unfortunately, after the technician attempted the repair, that small chip had turned into a long crack. What concerned me even more was that immediately after the crack appeared, the discussion shifted to replacing the entire windshield, and I was encouraged to schedule a replacement through Safelite. The situation left me feeling uneasy. If turning a small chip into a large crack is a known risk of the repair process, that should have been clearly explained to me before any work began--not after the damage had already occurred. Customers deserve to understand the potential consequences before making a decision. Afterward, I watched several videos demonstrating windshield chip repairs, and the process appeared straightforward when performed correctly. It makes me question how a minor chip could become a major crack during what should have been a routine repair. While I cannot know exactly what happened, the outcome left me with a much bigger problem than the one I started with. At a minimum, there should have been a clear warning about the possibility of the chip spreading into a crack before the repair was attempted. Unfortunately, this experience has completely eroded my confidence in the service. I will not be using Safelite again, and I cannot recommend them based on my experience. read more

An absolutely shady, dishonorable company. I had someone come to my work to fix a tiny rock chip in my windshield. Not only that, he asked if he could come in and use the bathroom, which I did not think would be a problem. He took an absolute sloppy paint job mud pie but no big deal, right? Well, it is a big deal now because the repair failed and they are refusing to fix it. All they are offering is to pay my insurance company back for the cost of repair and then I have to pay my insurance company deductible to have them replace the whole thing! My original appt was scheduled for one of the hottest summer days that was 95. The person scheduled to do my job late in the afternoon got ill working in the unusual high heat. I am an absolute idiot for trusting these people. I showed up with an appointment, confirmed they had the glass to replace my windshield. Confirmed that they could do the work. Took an uber home at my own expense. An hour later they call me and tell me "they keep having problems" with Volvos so I'll have to take it to the dealership and then bring it back. OH GEE, IF ONLY I HAD CONFIRMED THAT YOU MORONS COULD DO THE WORK... Are you fucking kidding me...? I could spend the next 3 months slamming my head in a car door and still not be 1/100th as incompetent as these people. Absolutely embarrassing in every way. And its almost like they just think its funny. "haha we wasted your time and money." DO NOT GO HERE. EVER. My insurance company made me go and this was so bad I'll be switching insurance providers. edit: after they wasted hours of my time for literally no reason, I dared ask that they bring my car back so I don't have to waste even more time. Unfortunately I didn't get the sense that she had the ability to feel shame since you would have to be a decent human being for that. She kept going back to this whole "yes, we have issues with this same volvo over and over but we didnt want to tell you because if we did we would be 'holding you hostage'" I genuinely don't understand. We booked an appointment with Safelite (which was $100 more expensive than others) because they could get us in on a Saturday. Spoke with Rose at 11:30 to confirm a 2:00 appointment and ask some questions. Because we went to the wrong location we were 10 minutes late (they have a 10-15 minute grace period). We called to let them know and they told us they had overbooked and so can no longer take us. They said they would have had to reschedule us even if we were there at 2:00 because they were overbooked. When I talked with them at 1130, at no time did she indicate a problem with booking. In fact she was very nice and helpful. When trying to reschedule us, the Manager said we could leave our car there but they wouldn't be able to get to it until Monday. Needless to say I canceled and will go with a less expensive company for a Monday repair. Would not recommend Safelite. Glad I didn't prepay for the service!! read more

Bait and switch. Got a quote online and scheduled an appointment. At a later time I got an email letting me know the price was adjusted and a $750 recalibration fee was added. After discussing with an agent, they let me know it would require driving the car to complete the calibration. All they are doing is removing the existing calibration from the car and the Tesla is calibrating itself. If they charge for this, they should tell people up-front. Also, charging $750 to tap on the screen to remove the existing calibration is absurd and bad business practice. Go elsewhere. read more

This is kinda a mixed review. I'll start with the good: The staff at this store are super nice. Very friendly and knowledgeable. From the receptionist to the techs- their great. They were able to clearly explain what was going on, what I should expect, etc. the facility was clean and easy to find as well, all good things. Now the bad: The reason they only get three stars is due to the warehouses handling of product. I arrived on time for my 10am appointment to have a windshield replaced. My Jeep was taken back and about two hours later I was informed that the windshield they had received from the warehouse was scratched. Bonus points for caring enough to see that and not install it. They explained they could run to the warehouse and be back in about an hour. Fine - I drove almost an hour to get there so I said I'd hang out while they did that. The second windshield came scratched. And a third. Finally, almost 6 hours later and four windshields later I was on my way. This isn't on the store at all, but I hope someone within their management sees this and can change how things are handled at the warehouse. read more

Horrible experience, I originally booked for a 8am to 12pm, window replacement since I work the graveyard shift, so it would workout with my schedule. However 1 day prior to the appointment I get a phone call, in which they move my time frame back, from 12pm to 4pm, although you have to be ready and alert until they come, I still agreed knowing I'd miss out on some sleep before work. I had the truck at the 64th & South Tacoma Way site by 9:00 a.m. I was told by the manager it would be finished by early afternoon. After not hearing from Safelite at all, I headed back up at 3:30. My truck was parked in the bay but no one was working on it. Finally a tech began the work at 4:15. It was finished an hour later. When I took delivery of the truck the passenger door was filthy. The truck had just been detailed 3 days earlier so it was spotless. When I asked the tech about cleaning it, he said, "I can get you a paper towel to wipe it down." Unfortunately, the rear window isn't tracking correctly and is noisy. Sure, Safelite offers a lifetime warranty on their work, but I can't trust them to do the job correctly and certainly can't sacrifice another 9 hours for the work to be completed. I fell victim to what I think is a homeless person breaking my window to steal my wife's lunchbox :(, immediately thought of the commercial and headed to this location. Waited for one person in line to get my window scheduled the next day. Took about 1 hour and I was out of there with warranty for any future problems with installation! Would definitely recommend if you just want your window replaced and not deal with a lot of paperwork or unnecessary wait times. So, I was originally sent to the other location in Tacoma, apparently they didn't have the right kind of glass to replace my windshield, which they knew and tried it anyway (they knew they were gonna have to recalibrate so why they made this decision is beyond me). My safety features would then not recalibrate and I was told we'd need to do a second replacement at the location with the right glass - also that they'd be notifying my insurance my safety features will be disabled until then. This second install on south Tacoma way was less than half the first install time - so why wasn't the broken glass cleaned out like it was the first time? My mother had her windshield replaced at the same location on the same day - they cleaned all the broken glass from her car. So again, why wasn't this done for my car especially since it had to be redone by their mistake and not something I did? This was awful and took a month. I spent 20 minutes on the phone, trying to reach a human being at this local location. I tried every option, I got disconnected multiple times, and I finally gave up. No matter what you choose the robot on the phone only ever gives you the option of using the website or a chat bot. Whatever happened to personal service? I'm not a senior citizen. I have a smart phone and an iPad and a laptop. I use apps for many things. BUT, SOMETIMES I WANT TO TALK TO A HUMAN BEING!!! I have complex questions that don't fit into the robot menu, and aren't discoverable in an online form! It would've taken five minutes if anyone with even a basic grasp of their job would've answered the phone. I don't care if I have to pay out of pocket because my insurance company "prefers" only Safelite. Totally worth it to never have to use a company so detached from the art of customer service. The only thing I see a lot on the reviews are that scratch windshields are found at the shop that came straight from the warehouse, because it happen to me as well. just wondering that either no one is paying attention to detail and making sure when they issue it to the shop that the checks are being done to ensure time is not being wasted and hopefully have someone at the warehouse QA inspect it to ensure time is not wasted at the customers behaLt. Preston did such a great job with my window chip. I had bad spidering that went into the black part of my window near the wipers so he wasn't able to use the tools he normally would, he had to do more of a manual method, but he did a great job. Should have known better... Made my appointment one week in advance. Received an aggressive amount of reminder texts leading up to my appointment. I arrived, checked in, gave my credit card, called my Lyft and as I was leaving, I was told my glass never arrived. The technician couldn't care less, the manager couldn't care less. Not one person apologized or tried to figure out where the glass was or offer any amount of help. I requested that they reimburse me for my late Lyft cancel fee which they did. It's the only reason I'm ok leaving a 1 star review. Otherwise, they deserve 0 stars. Took the are early AM but didn't start working on it til 3 so I was car-less many hrs when I didn't need to be. All warning sensors failed after the new windshield was installed. I've been a customer for years, I had to schedule a appointment in Tacoma instead of the Olympia location Because it didn't have availability. The service was quite fast for how busy they said they were for Saturday after picking up my vehicle I inspected the work and first thing I notice how the covers that would be removed before placing the new windshield was improperly put back in place and we're lose as well as finding a missing plastic screw on the other end of the windshield tried to address the issue to the tech and I was told that the vehicle came like this. I drive this on a daily and I'm 100% sure that before bringing my car in I had no missing plastic screws on the covers and that they were not loose. They got the job done But seem like they rushed it because they wouldn't have misplaced a screw when putting things back together and put them back properly instead of having it be loose. I know no one is perfect but when a customer sees you made a mistake, at least be honest and own up to it rather than saying, it came like that.
