AVOID this Safelite at all costs. Highly unprofessional, dishonorable service, lackluster communication. They deserve -5 stars. I had scheduled a windshield replacement for Saturday, and was originally given a 4 hour window from 1-5pm, for their technician to arrive. At 1:00pm I received a text, telling me that instead their tech would arrive from 5-6pm. At 6:00pm I received another text, this time from the technician himself Akbar, that he would now arrive from 6:15-6:45pm. 6:45pm comes around and no one shows up. I called Akbar's phone number directly and someone picked up and then hung up immediately. So I called Safelite directly and they informed me that their technician stated he knocked on our door and made repeated attempts to call me, to no avail. We have cameras and verified that NO ONE at any time came to our house, nor did I have any missed calls. This should have been my first warning. After speaking with a Safelite representative who seemed helpful, she assured me that a different technician would be sent out, but Monday was the earliest they could do. I scheduled the appointment. I then received an invoice for the repair cost with the quote - OEM windshield for $875. Monday comes around and the technician arrives, but its Akbar, the same guy who LIED about coming and wasting my entire day on Saturday. I was assured I would receive a different technician. Just wanting to get the service over with, I tell him to go ahead and he proceeds and removes my windshield. About 45 minutes into the process, Safelite sends me a new invoice, this time quoting me an additional $500!! I call immediately and send both the original email and quote, as well as state the California Business and Professions Code Section 12024.2 - stating a business MUST HONOR the quoted price. Even after escalation, they would not honor their original quote and my windshield was left unchanged. This was a serious waste of time and resources, including an additional day of work I had to take off, and now more time being spent to find another repair shop. I would NEVER recommend doing business with this Safelite and strongly advise you find another dealer. They hire dishonest employees and do not abide by state laws. This review isn't biased or based on previous experiences -- it's about the one we just had with Jonathan on Monday afternoon. My husband and our 11-year-old were playing catch outside on a Sunday morning, and unfortunately, my husband missed a catch -- but our 2021 Kia Telluride didn't. The ball hit dead center, right where our camera is. There was no fixing it -- we needed a new windshield. Safelite.com made it extremely easy to get quotes and schedule an appointment. It even let my husband submit an insurance claim directly through their website. We set up an appointment for Monday at 1 p.m. My husband arrived a little early on Monday, and it took Jonathan a bit of time to come out. He was very detailed with my husband and let him know it would take about 3-4 hours. Thankfully, we have a second car and work from home, so that wasn't a problem. We paid and left. Because of all the cameras, our vehicle needed a recalibration, which can take longer if it doesn't work correctly. I tested the cameras today, and all the sensors are working perfectly. The service took longer than originally quoted, but when Jonathan called, he explained they were open until 6 p.m. -- maybe even later -- because of how busy they were. When we picked up the car, the glass and overall work looked flawless, like nothing ever happened. My stickers and FasTrak were all put back exactly where they were. A different technician came out to take care of me 45 minutes later than my appointment time. Completely unprofessional !!!!!! Horrible work!!!!! 2018 Tacoma broken rear left window replaced 7/15. Was quoted to replace all 3 windows (two fixed and one electric slider in the middle). I was told if they don't need to replace all three cost would be less. They only replaced two windows but cost was the same. BIGGEST PROBLEM: Safelite broke the wire to the center electric window. They told me I needed to pay to have it replaced.. They said they would send me a quote for the new wire they broke. they never did. Now my center sliding window does not work. June 15th I talked to my insurance about a chip in my 2002 Vette and was told to contact Safelite, which I did. Safelite came out to take pictures and said they would call me to schedule once they had the windshield since it's a classic car. No call back, nothing....they wouldn't call me back or pick up their phone. I finally had to call my insurance agent and THEY had to call them to find out the molding was discontinued and they closed my order without telling me! I'll spare the gory details - let's just say it had been literal ages since I had gone to a particular eating establishment that happened to me in Newark, Ca (screw it, ok- it was BJ's) one fateful evening post work with one of my colleagues & friends to catch up this past Tuesday, June 25th. It had been quite the while and I had had a huge life "thing" that recently transpired so we were there about 1.5hrs only to observe a gentlemen (who we found out later was BJ's manager) come abruptly running inside the establishment yelling for all patrons "Everyone go check your cars, we just had several break ins!" Insert proverbial record skip. Fast fwd to what was like a blur, folks frantically running outside to assess their vehicles only for me to discover mine - yeah, peace loving mind my business ME... my car was one that had been burglarized. Busted window, glass all over the damn place. This was the last damn thing I need after again - having some major life stuff recently transpire in my family. "Safelight repair, safelight replace!" Whoomp, there it is. Popped into my head not long after the initial anger and shock and Alanis Morisette "Isn't it Ironic" viciously circled my brain. Had to stick around hours later waiting on Newark PD to come take reports from all (there were 4 other cars that got targeted that day) - it was then too late to make any plans nor was my brain calmed down enough to conduct business with anyone. Next day I looked into their website after discovering Geico with my full coverage doesn't cover glass and that it would be my $50@ deductible (again, some bs). My grand total according to Safelight would be close to $300. D'oh. Whatever - unfortunately their satellite repair option for someone to come to me was booked out over a week at the time and I could not wait. Luckily I found a slot (all day drop off ) appt for the next day -the text instruction plain and simply advised to drop my car off by 0930, follow key drop instruction. I arrived there early since I start work at 0800, only to find the flippin secure box to drop keys in was taped up at ng arrival at 0730. Why?? Sooo, bo time to waste, I checked the business entrance, door was locked. Shortly after in desperation, I asked a young lady who was I'm sure half asleep and barely about to start her day who mentioned someone must be inside and apologized. Shortly after she entered, the tape and advised I could drop my key then, which was good because I had already coordinated my rideshare to get to work. I was told I'd get text updates all day to keep an eye on my phone, but by 3:45pm, I had received no a single one. Worried, I called their office as I needed to rideshare my ass back to pickup my vehicle which clearly stated would be completed by 5pm. The lady placed me on hold and said it was showing in progress, so not to worry. Still no updates... I caught my Lyft back to Safelight and arrived around 4:30pm. The waiting room was decent and air conditioned with plenty of chairs, TV, and vending machine for my snacking pleasure, so at least I could wait with the other 4 folks that had already been there. Still no text updates. What gives, dude? My patience at 5pm was then nonexistent so I approached the window and asked for status and explained I had no updates all day as the text instructed there would be and further told the ladies it said they have all day to complete my repair, but that it clearly said would be finished by 5. They looked at each other momentarily, then one offered to check in the work area with the technician to see what was going on . Two seconds later I suddenly get a text update (it was now about 5:15pm) to say the work had just STARTED. What?!! Take a chill pill, Jeanie - My brain said - she came back and attempt d to explain that sometimes there are delays. Well, damn. Went and sat my exhausted, annoyed, defeated self right back down pissed off that I was going to need to shell out money for something that never should've happened that I couldn't afford at the time and now was running way over the time I was told it would take to complete. I just wanted communication as I was promised, lifetime warranty on the work or not. Oh, but she was quick to get my payment squared away though. The tech who happened to be very nice finally came out to me, the very last customer remaining in the lobby around 5:45pm to inform me he successfully completed his work. The work was done great, his personality and communication was great, I'd give 4 stars based on him alone but it wasn't his fault. 3 stars for the lack of updates and completion in timely manner as well as the very lackadaisical, kick back and gossip while a customer sits waiting receptionists. For this service, I didn't have enough time to wait for in-home service so I decided to use Safelite's drop off (Drop + Go) service, where we had to leave the car the evening before the day of the appointment. I made sure the key + a piece of paper showing the referral code and my name along with the car info are in a ziplock that I put in the drop box. However, in the following day, the day of the appointment, Safelite's automated call handling made it verify difficult for me to follow-up on my car. Turns out, the person who picks up the phone calls (510) 400-8345 is offsite and has no actual information on the car and the appointment. For the entire day of the appointment, I didn't receive a phone call until around 6:30pm (1.5 hours past their listed closing time of 5pm at the door). I didn't realize they are open until 6:30pm! At any rate: I learned that the Drop + Go service is where the customer drops off the vehicle at their location. And the Safelite tech will not call the customer until the vehicle is actually serviced, which is End of the appointment day in my case. Usually, other car service companies allow the customer to call to follow-up if the car left the evening before is received successfully. Not with Safelite. Next time I work with Safelite, I'll just use their home service, where a tech comes to my house and do the windshield replacement in my driveway. read more

I absolute worst customer service I ever have my life from this company. First they hung the glass wrong on my back hatch and broke one of the springs that goes on my hatch. The technician anything to me. He just told me he was done and left. I had to find out on my own by looking at the that was done that it was not done correctly. Then I had to go down to the company and have them look at it. I had to wait outside for over a half hour because they had children running a muck in their waiting room climbing over chairs and no one was saying anything bumping into the other customers and yet the people behind the front even try to ask the mother to wrangle her kids. After that I was told that they had to order a special part to fix where the spring was broken, so I waited almost a month. when it came time for them to fix that the manager Valerie called my grandfather who had asked multiple times for his phone number to be removed from the account because it's my car he was just the one paying for it. Well she asked for me to call her at a certain time the next morning and when I made that phone call it was her day off which is horrible. She should know when she has the day off and shouldn't ask for someone to call her on that day. When I show up to get my car fixed and drop it off, I get to the rental car company and they put the rental car under the wrong name. It was under my grandfather's name instead of my name who again I remind you asked to be removed multiple times. I was then told that I would be called by the end of the day and that my vehicle would be done by the end of the day. Well 7:00 pm rolled around and nothing from so I had to call the next morning only to find out that my car was not ready. It did not get fixed and that they were Going to have to keep my car another day. I was also told that I would get a call from the technician to let me know exactly a timeframe. I never received that call and after talking to the technician during pick up I found out that he was never even asked to call me. The message was never relayed to him. I asked numbers to get a hold of a district manager or some sort of corporate office and I was refused. I will never use this company again and I also hope that no one else with the ridiculousness that I had to deal with on a sidenote when I walked in there. And I was told by technician that the store doesn't have the glass and they will order and call me once it's delivered (which was fine). On July 3, I went to the store and asked the young lady at the reception for the status of my order. And she told me that it's pending, and will give me a call once it arrives (again this was fine, I understand that the delay happens sometimes). On July 5, (after waiting for over ONE WEEK!) I went to the store again in person and asked the same young lady for the status. And this time, she told me that they didn't place my order at all!. She said she will email the internal team to arrange it (this is NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!). I was shocked by how irresponsible your reception is! If she doesn't know how to check the status, please be honest. And I was very disappointed NOT ONLY by your reception BUT ALSO by the technician. The first picture is the part behind the driver's side door handle, and as you can see, it was broken after the visit. And for the second picture, when the technician removed the glass, but he didn't put 2 screws back so I had to get those from other place by myself! This was my first visit to your store located in Union City. And I was super disappointed with the entire experience that I had (people I dealt with and time I wasted). Probably one of the worst services I've ever received. Ended up taking my car in for a windshield replacement. Took about 3 hours, okay whatever. They were supposed to recalibrate my front windshield sensors/camera and change my windshield wipers as well. Apparently, they didn't recalibrate or replace my wipers. Had to come back in a few days later and get that done. In both of my visits, some "mysterious" scratches showed up. One of my driver side mirror head and on the driver side panel above the tire. Mind you, fresh scratches. I always walk around my car and did so before these appointments and these weren't there prior to my visit. Conveniently, the techs pics of my car from my initial visit "didn't save" and he argued that the scratches couldn't have come from him cuz he wears a scratch resistant apron... The scratches are minor and I can over look them, but techs should be more careful when handling customer property. Placing anti scratch coverings on side mirrors and panels is a great way to ensure cars don't get scratched. read more

I was quoted 90 minutes to replace the rear sliding glass on my F-150 I ended up waiting over 5 hours. The tech repeatedly came out with excuses, but at the end of the day, it's 16 bolts and some adhesive this shouldn't take an entire afternoon. Worse than the delay was the overall disorganization. The receptionist juggled missed appointments, delayed timelines, and constant excuses it was clear this wasn't a one-off issue. Customers were being pushed out days or even weeks due to poor scheduling and communication. Avoid Safelite AutoGlass at all costs. I called my Dealership and got quoted 1850.00 for windshield OEM glass replacement. Then set up an appointment with Safelite for a price of 403. I went back contacted Safelite asked for OEM glass they said that would be 23.00 more. Wow let's do it. Still skeptical I was gonna get OEM glass, tech showed up early with OEM glass and said they do allot of OEM glass replacement. I was so pleased with having Safelite do the work !!!!
