AVOID Don't be misled by their Yelp reviews [they damaged my car] I took my car to them to replace the front door glass on both sides. Since I was in a rush, I chose them over Safelite, thinking it would be a quicker option. I waited while they worked on my car, and an older man "who seemed to be the owner" handled the job. Once he was done, I immediately noticed several issues: the door panels were damaged, the paint was scratched, and the door panes weren't installed properly. When I pointed out the damage, he was dismissive, and after a frustrating argument, he finally admitted they were responsible. He promised to get a paint patching kit and call me, but that never happened. To make matters worse, he charged me for cleaning up the broken glass, yet I can still hear pieces rolling around inside my doors whenever I drive or open and close them. read more

Here is my story. I had a crack. I called my insurance. I told them I wanted to go here because it came highly recommended. I made an appointment. I went and they were expecting me. They immediately started working on replacing the windshield. There was not much discussion as I would have liked. They finished quickly. I signed paperwork. Paid my deductible and that's it. I was heading home. I had a vacation planned so I left and a week later I came home. Then, I took my car to the car wash. And as the machines were blowing it dry, something started flapping. This place is a lifesaver! I had my Tesla Model S quarter window broken into over the weekend and on Monday I gave this place a call and got a quote for $560. On top of that, they said that they have the parts already in stock and that I can come in the next half an hour to get it fixed. Next thing I know, I'm over at the shop and dropped off my vehicle with them for 2 hours. After 2 hours, I picked up my car and the results were great! Unfortunately, this has been the second time within the past 10 months, I have had to go to Peter Pan Auto Glass. Both times, the service has been simply phenomenal. The first time, he made a special effort take care my car, because Oakland was going through one of those heavy rain periods and he did not want me out there with a missing window. This past Thursday, my car was broken into while I was in downtown Oakland. We had a small crack on our Honda Accord's front windshield, and we kept putting off getting it fixed. Over a few months, the small crack became a large crack and we knew it was time to get it fixed. I called them one day, and they said they had no wait if we brought the car right then. So, I sped on over, and their crew immediately descended on the car. The front windshield weather stripping on my car was old and cracking like chapped lips and I had put this repair on the back burner for too long. Knowing the potential for El Niño to strike the Bay Area this 2015 winter, I knew I had to get it replaced immediately for fear of leaks coming through. I had called several local places and got either very high quotes to replace just the stripping alone OR that I would have to replace the entire windshield in order to replace the stripping. Are you kidding me?! In the end, I decided on Peter Pan Auto Glass. The owner, Peter, gave me a great quote I couldn't refuse and I made an appointment to see him this morning. When I arrived, Peter promptly greeted me and started to tear away at the old stripping. I didn't want to hear what he told me next. He said he couldn't replace the stripping and that the entire front windshield (which was perfectly fine in my opinion except for a few chips here and there from flying rocks and debris) had to be replaced to do the work (he was afraid that he might crack the glass while trying to replace the piece of rubber). Was this just a ploy to get me in here and pay for something I really didn't need? The cost would have been an extra $200 on top of what he already quoted me, which was not pleasing to hear (Friday the 13th might have been in play?) but was a pretty good quote if I had to go this route (and I didn't want to start calling other places again since he already started ripping off the old stripping). Realizing I was disappointed about this additional repair and cost, he said he would try his best to replace the stripping without having to replace the windshield, but that there was no guarantee that the glass wouldn't break. I agreed with him and he started the repair again. Carefully working his magic, Peter removed the old stripping and caulking, washed down the area squeaky clean, and took his time to get the new stripping in and sealed completely. Wow, he really did it, the windshield was saved, and the repair I had originally come in for was done perfectly! A job well done by Peter and dollars saved for me! In the end, I left here as a very satisfied customer with the excellent work performed and will definitely return here for any future and necessary repair/replacement. Doing this sort of work since 1992, Peter is an expert at his skill and trade, displays utmost professionalism and courtesy, and is a pleasure to work with. My first impression about a possible ploy by him was completely wrong and unwarranted, and I know now that he's an honest, reliable, and dependable businessman. If you come here, there's a 10% discount if you check in on Yelp, but his quote might be low enough that he won't offer the additional discount which happened to me (according to Peter, most of his cost is labor and he makes very little on the material). He accepts cash, check, credit card, and I believe auto insurance proceeds, too. So with the rains came potholes on 880. And with the crumbling freeways comes rocks that are magnetically drawn to the windshield of my 2012 Camry. I called the shop specifically asking for Pilkington windshield glass. Person on the phone assured me that he had that brand glass in the shop. When I visited the shop, he said he did not have Pilkington brand, but instead had another equivalent premium brand (Saint Gobain). I went ahead with that glass. They did a great job with the glass replacement. Its been a week and I have had no problems with the new windshield. At first, this business seemed convenient. You have a broken window, you call them, they come out and replace the window at your location (sometimes even the same day). Then, it's downhill, really far downhill. They say they'll be there between 10-11am. After calling their receptionist (who is not the best at English) multiple times and being told 'they're on their way right now,' the guy shows up at 2:45. He replaces the glass, scratches up a metal piece attached to the window, does a cursory vacuum job, and asks for his payment. The window rattles, the guy says all windows rattle. I check the passenger side window and it does NOT rattle. He says he'll have the owner come and fix it in 3-4 days because he does not know how to fix it. 4 days later, the owner arrives at 2:15 (supposed to arrive between 1-2, so 2:15 is not too bad), doesn't call to say he's arrived and doesn't come to the door. Instead, he looks like he's trying to break into the car. I unlock the car and come out before he can even get his tools out. He opens and closes the door and says there's nothing wrong. I shake the door and the rattling sound is obvious. He says there's nothing wrong, all windows rattle, and the scratched metal pieces are damaged very easily and aren't a big deal. He demands payment and stupidly, I pay him, believing there is nothing more he is going to do. 3 and a half weeks, 5 phone calls, and 10 lies later, the owner schedules a time to come out with a newly ordered metal piece. Owner arrives at 3:10 (supposed to arrive between 11-12) with NO metal piece, saying that the metal piece was sent back (for no reason that he could tell us) and he plans to SPRAY PAINT the metal part on the window on our car. At this point, I am laughing (in disgust) that it took all this time for him to replace the metal piece, schedule a time to come out and do the work, and then he shows up without the part! I get him to take apart the door to look for the reason for the rattling. He opens it and we see that a wire and plastic part connecting the security alarm is just dangling inside the door (this is the rattling sound). He says his guy didn't break the alarm thing (like I took the door apart myself and did it???) and he will TAPE it back into place. I demand a refund, which he reluctantly agrees to give me (after threatening to sue him for a refund so I can have the work done correctly). He doesn't have the exact amount and needs $10 change. While I am looking for $10 to give him in my apartment, he follows me to my door, then knocks on the door when I take a couple minutes to find some change for him. I tell him I am looking for another dollar and he should just wait outside. He starts asking random people in the complex parking area for $10! Honestly, this owner was rude, condescending, and did VERY POOR workmanship. If this guy can stay in business, anyone can. Please do not use their services. There are plenty of other glass businesses that will come to your location and do good work on your vehicle. This seemed convenient at first, but was definitely not worth the hassle. read more

Finally got my car front glass fixed @ Peter Pan Auto Glass. Find Peter via my insurance company. It was close by my house so I went there right away today. Peter was friendly and fast. It took him about 45 minutes and he was all done. Not that I have any experience with auto glass. Just in general, Peter looks pretty professional and he also attempt to make small talks so it won't be just silent. My only question is I wonder how much he is going to charge my insurance.
