Nice little shop right within the Ritz Carlton at Northstar. It's incredibly convenient if you are…read morestaying at the Ritz Carlton as it is all within one place. They even have a pass "office" here, so you can buy your passes or get physical pass cards if needed. The shop has everything you need for skiing or snowboarding, including clothing, helmets, boots, goggles, gloves, etc. The selection isn't huge as the shop is small, but it's definitely good enough. I'm not sure if it was just this shop, but there were also no lines which is a huge bonus. They also offer the demo skis and boards if you're looking to rent nicer equipment. If you can, my suggestion is to rent from this shop. We were staying at the RC, but I don't think you need to in order to rent from here.

The other, in part it's not their fault as it's the beginning of the season and they seem to be poorly trained, however their inattention to their own fellow staff members is sort of shocking. A cashier was trying for several minutes to get the attention of a group of ski techs - who were all huddled in a group, laughing and having a generally great time - which is awesome, great when you get along with your coworkers. The reason she had been trying to get their attention, was because one of them had not pressed the 'enter' button to send our final check out ticket to her machine. Tim H - extremely poor customer service on your end. I tried to get your guys' attention by saying, 'hey guys, is there anything we can do, to help us get out of here faster?', and yes that was louder than speaking voice but they were bellowing and laughing and couldn't hear us or the cashier the previous 5-6 times. I'm certain all this is on camera, it's the Ritz after all. Instead of acknowledging that the staff was being so aloof (or frankly, don't acknowledge it, they're your guys, I get it) but the fact that you had to step in behind the register, ask the clerk what the issue was, walk over to the group of techs, personally press a single 'enter' button because they couldn't hear you either, walk back to the register and sort the rest out.. and you chose to be hostile, which isn't particularly appreciated as we had been plenty patient throughout the process despite it taking the route it did. Thumbs up for the gear, the better trained team, even the guys who helped us as they were friendly. Massive thumbs down for Tim H and a negative attitude.

But for the value, it's definitely worth it. My daughter got new skis and boots last season and the staff were very helpful. There is a buy back program that gives you discounts on the next set, which I haven't used but will likely have to this season.
