DONT GET A CAKE HERE! Called me less than an hour before pick up to let know they didn't have the toy/item that comes on my cake. Okay, no big deal I guess even tho it's a pretty stupid looking cake now. I get there to pick up my cake and had to have a worker be told by his coworker to help me multiple times until he finally did. He showed me the cake, and it looks awful and cheaply made. It's whatever though since it's for a 3 year old so I bite my tongue. Finally get to start eating it at the birthday party and it's not what I asked for at all. They used sugary fake buttercream all over my cake when I asked for the real whipped cream. To top it off they ran out of cake boxes and put it in whatever was the "next best thing." The whole experience was so bad I had to double check my receipt to make sure I wasn't wrong. It's just not worth the time, money, and effort at all. Wish I had a picture but it is what it is. Genuinely unfortunate to call this my neighborhood market. Ive lived next to this location for about 8 months now and every visit is just as bad as the last. Ive put off leaving a review because maybe its just luck but every time im here every employee is extremely rude, has an attitude, and is extremely unaligned as a team. A team is supposed to be knowledgeable on product and align but no team members ever have the same answers and are always on something. Lines are extremely long, even with them adding the self check out. The biggest problem is that so many items are locked up behind glass. To get simple items like hand soap you have to ring the bell and wait for someone to come and unlock the glass. Sometimes you have to ri g the bell several times before someone even comes. There are some good employees that have been there for years that are very helpful like Miriam or Tommy. Starbucks is also hit or miss whether or not someone is actually behind the counter. i used to work here, they made me work close to 12 hours without being able to take my last break, this was during their grand re-opening. during my time there, they over worked us, did not listen to our suggestions to make things work smoother. they never even thanked us to our face for all of the hard work we did. the only reason i was able to go home, was because i had a mental breakdown. they don't care about their staff, they only care about how everyone views them. and their hot meals to go, are always cold. they also have the longest lines, there is not enough staff. they need to hire more people read more

I experienced very poor customer service at the Safeway on Waterman Blvd in Fairfield on March 5 around 8:40 p.m. with the cashier at register #4, Shawn. I always greet my cashiers upon entering the line. I greeted Shawn twice because I thought he just didn't hear me the first time. Shawn completely ignored my greeting and had a very bad attitude. After he aggressively rung up my items, I was then told that I needed to bag them myself. When I asked do they no longer bag the items for us, He became upset and yelled at me stating that I can bag them myself instead of standing there and watching him bag them. Shawn proceeded to bag a few items but then refused to bag the rest. This interaction felt embarrassing, dismissive and unprofessional. I've reported the incident to corporate because this is not the level of service customers I should receive. I spend a-lot of money with this company and to be treated this way was unacceptable. read more

Went in at 2pm on a Friday to get a bottle of spirits. Everything is locked up and you have to push a button to request assistance. Waited there for 20 minutes. During that time, over the loudspeaker, someone is saying, over and over, "customer needs assistance in the meat department." After 20 minutes, I went to the front counter, waited for 10 minutes behind a couple of people in line while the poor woman at the counter is dealing with radio calls and the busy atmosphere of the place. A frustrated customer threw her arms up and walked out the door. The woman behind the counter got on her radio and said, "The customer that wanted all of that meat just walked out, you can put it back." I'm standing there looking behind me at the single open checkout lane with an ever-growing line of customers and I'm wondering just how long it's going to take me to get out of there. Call me picky, call me old fashioned, call me an alcoholic, but I'm not spending 45 minutes trying to buy a single item from your store. Went to Raley's a quarter of a mile away, booze isn't under lock and key, they had three registers open, and I was in and out in 5 minutes. read more

Was passing by Fairfield today when I made a pitstop to this Safeway to pick up some groceries. As many other Yelpers have mentioned, there is only 1 way in and 1 way out. This honestly did not bother me too much, although the front entrance gets rather congested if you attempt to stop to grab something displayed at the front. I attempted to pick out some fruit, but quickly decided to head to the produce section instead due to the above-mentioned reason. As well as the fact that they apparently failed to place any plastic bags at the front for me to put fruit into. While this Safeway is decently sized with well-stocked shelves, the aisles themselves are very cramped together. So it was often difficult for people to maneuver around each other while shopping. Despite this, all the patrons I encountered here were all very friendly and cordial, and we all just yielded to one another as we passed. The self-check out registers are at the very end of the store here, and also serve as the exit for people not purchasing anything. Surprisingly, despite lines at all the other registers, the self-check out registers was completely empty. Guessing the placement was not very obvious so most people did not know it was there. All of the employees I briefly encountered here were all super friendly. The restroom which I used briefly had filthy floors that definitely could have used a good mopping. But this seems to be a common problem at many Safeway locations. The parking lot was huge, but was quite full when I visited. One glaring thing the lot was lacking was cart corrals, so I was forced to either abandon my cart in an empty spot like everyone else did, or walk it all the way back to the store. read more

This is the most frustrating Safeway I have ever shopped in. I have ordered groceries for pick up in the past, and can't park in the Drive and Go spots because of people being parked in the spots to shop. Some of the basic items they don't carry. They only have 2 cashier's at a time, with 1 being the express line of you have less than 15 items. The food in the deli does not look fresh nor appetizing. It's difficult to find employees for help on the floor. I would not recommend this location. If you can, take a drive to Vacaville to that Safeway. This store is not it. read more

I placed an order for delivery on July 8th to be delivered between 3 and 7pm. At 6:40p they sent an email to tell me there was a "delay". By 9:00p no delivery and no communication. I phoned customer service and they told me I would get a call from the store and get the delivery that evening. No call. At 8a the next morning, I called the store to inquire about my grocery order. I was told there was a "price adjustment" that needed to be made before delivery. She supposedly made the adjustment and said the order was "ready for delivery at that time and it should arrive very shortly". I asked for some sort of compensation for the delay. After speaking to her manager, she offered me "free delivery and $20 off the order" I told her that the delivery was already free. She offered to refund $35 off my order and I agreed. But ~ it is 8:45, no delivery. Safeway, and other grocery stores are really struggling with quality dependable business practices. I am needing these services to be 'spot on' because of my current health condition and going into the store is not an option. (**food has been delivered! I was once harassed and held up by other shoppers who were a married couple w 2 babies here and not one employee helped me or called the police. They didn't do anything but watch as the. married couple w babies berated me and try to prevent me from walking away. Other customers stopped shopping to watch and tried to say something but the married couple had a hold of me and my cart. I finally decided to start swinging my hands to protect myself and this is when the couple ran away. I asked an employee why they let it happen but they didn't say anything and just stared at me and the manager was no where to be found. I did nothing to the couple, I just walked by. I don't know what their issue was. I have heard of another persons experience here where they were also harassed and not one employee did anything to stop it. So I shop at food maxx and raleys now and haven't experienced any of this at those stores. Avoid this grocery store. Edit: I also wanted to mention when once I stepped up to the deli waiting to ask a simple question to an employee and he just looked up angry and yelled "what! What! What do you want?!" I lived in Fairfield for the past three years and this Safeway has a lot of rude employees. I've gone to this location at different hours but the worse time to go is at night when only the self check out counters are open and no one acknowledges you, not the person supervising the self check out area, not the security guards no one and they could be right in front of you. Last time I was there, the security guard, the person in charge of supervising the self check out, and it looked like potentially the manager or supervisor they all were chilling at the register in front of me, and not one of them acknowledged me or even bother to say hello bye or thank you they were gossiping and chilling. read more

This is the worst Safeway I've ever been to. For the past 5 years, there are only 2-3 checkers, even on a friday. This past friday, there were 2 checkers at 3:30pm with 10+ customers in each line. And, this must now be considered a bad part of town multiple safety measures installed: they only have one entrance/exit door now, the one on the right side has been boarded up. When you enter, there is a gate and you turn around and go out if you forgot something or had to go back to your car. They now have self check out, but, there is also a gate to exit. If there is a fire, it would be hard to exit the store quickly. Now, in addition to clipping coupons, they have coupons that you have to use your phone for, if you're not tech smart, forget about it. I had problems using it, and so did the checker. read more

The whole set up seems draconian and heavy-handed, like all customers are suspect. Grim and unfriendly all around. I shop here often because its so close and has long hours which I like, but - the parking lot and entry areas are always dirty, the milk and dairy refrigerators smell like mildew. One has to be very careful watching expiry dates because they're all on the end of the freshness date - usually a month or two so never stock your pantry here. I bought crispy taco shells awhile back and they tasted awful - I looked at the date and it was 1 week in the future but obviously they were already done for! I've purchased items that were bad already - peperoni that was all discolored and thankfully it smelled bad or I might not have noticed! I purchased Sonoma pizza sauce that once opened had a spoiled layer of mold on it. Often the pizza dough on the shelf is partially raised in the bag and thusly no good. If you arrive too early in the morning the donuts and bagals are not done and they proudly say - come back in an hour or two!! I find this very odd because don't the bakers arrive early enough to get the baking done? They bake sliced bread but then don't slice it until you ask for it and than over half the time they say the slicer is broken! The donut baker - Dana - makes terrible donuts which taste like the frying oil is old (even saved over for a day makes the donuts taste bad! Please stop doing this!). Debra was an amazing overall baker and donut maker! But she retired darn it!! The checkers are nice in the early morning mostly but any other time its a challenge to get a nice checker. The prices for some things are ridiculous - Cigarettes 12$ a pack!!?? Really? Cigarette stores charge 9$. Eggs 9.99 a dozen?? They randomly carry a great product and then you'll never find it again - "Real Good brand chicken cordon blu" for instance!! Why? Over half the ice cream carton flavors are a variety of vanilla. Why? Flowers - especially roses, you must read the date otherwise you get them home and the very next day they're half dead already!! They say you can bring them back if they die the next day but they argue ferociously to try and blame you for making them die. Basil in the produce department is normally half dead inside the package (you really have to open it and lift the leaves to make sure its not already brown and weepy.) The blueberries are very often so soft and mushy its as if they've been frozen and thawed. Don't they know how to store their berries? The personal products isle is ridiculous with locking cabinets down both sides of the entire isle - which they never answer the call buttons to come unlock it. Too bad. It has the potential for a nice store and was quite a few years ago when the super store manager who got transferred to Sacramento was here. read more

I have been going to this location for at least 20 years now and whenever I have to deal with customer service, I want to gouge my eyes out. Safeway always had great fresh baked bread. But lately the bread has been so weird. It's like the dough is not mixed right. Or it's not baked right. I don't know, but the quality is lacking a lot. Perhaps someone will actually read this and do something about it for other clients. I have lived up the hill and shopped here for over 5 years. Now that they closed one entrance that leaves only 2 handicap spots close to the entrance. The 3 logical spaces that should be added near the entrance are the online pickup spaces. I sent a comment on the Safeway website and never heard back. They don't care. I wonder if the ADA can get involved. I drive the extra miles to another Safeway that is much better. read more

She helped me regarding a price discrepancy - an associate reluctantly did a price check but didn't remove the expired sale sign from the item which would prevent other customers from expecting the same sale price.
