This is a very clean, nice, new-looking Safeway. Most items are always in stock, and the produce is pretty high quality. The Just For U app works well, and between the weekly ads and the app, you can get groceries at Safeway for a reasonable price. I wish they had self checkout lanes. It can get very crowded, especially if I go after picking the kids up from school in the afternoon. Self checkout would help with the lines. read more

I have been shopping at Safeway here in Rocklin for about 3 years. I want to write and Comment about how great the employees there are - Especially Meghan Henderson. I believe she's in customer service. Various occasions she has gone out of her to help me and my family from returns to help finding items and always greets us with a smile that can light up the room. I came home after purchasing bell peppers to make stuffed bell peppers for dinner for my boyfriend and I. and i was cutting them open, ALL of the bell peppers had black spots in them. Take better care of your produce. Not only did I waste my money, but luckily I noticed something was wrong with them or we would've gotten seriously sick. Disappointed. read more

Shop here at your own risk. Food safety is secondary to profits, here. In the produce aisle, there were bags of carrots that had expired two months ago mired in slime and mold. Bags of frozen blueberries laid on display ripped wide open. I bought a jar of almond butter only to discover it was rancid. As a consumer, it is among my basic expectations that a grocery store stock fresh goods that are stored correctly and this Safeway could not accomplish even that. read more

Haven't been to this location at all until tonight. Came in around 7pm, had trouble finding bread because it was super messy, nothing was in its place. I felt like the stocking isn't done as often as the pleasant grove store for other sections too. I felt like at least the cashier would be nice to make up for the experience. Nope. I asked the bagger to please put the cold with the cold items. The cashier didn't greet AT ALL, just started scanning items, no words spoken even when they were finished. No outspoken total amount, I had to squint to see the screen. Just terrible terrible customer service. I thought the horrible experience was finally over until I went to grab the bag with the cold items and all my groceries were scattered. Milk carton was on its side. Why? Bread was thrown into a bag with drinks/heavy cans. Ice cream was on top of cleaning supplies. I literally had to stand in the parking lot and re-bag ALL of my items meanwhile it's 30 degrees out. I mean not only do these kids take a training on how to bag items but I'm sure there are signs everywhere on proper bagging, or at least have some kind of common sense? Definitely not coming back. And not recommending either. I would've been super upset to come home with spilt milk and smashed bread! Step your game up employees. Clearly someone in management needs to be replaced. read more

I am not one to post a review but in this case I felt that it is very necessary. My family have been coming to this Safeway store for 5 years as it is very convenient and I for one, have never had any problems with an employee until today. After checking out, I went straight to the scratcher machine to buy a ticket. I pulled a $5 bill as that was the only cash I had. I didn't see any $5 ticket so I bought a $3 one and was looking for a $2 and they were old sold out. So I asked to get some assistance as the machine does not give change back. The clerk who helped me named ROSE did not appear friendly. I explained to her that I needed the $2 back or exchange it with a $5 ticket (I didn't see this originally) but she recommended that I buy a lottery ticket instead and I said I didn't want to do that. She then walked off hurriedly and muttered "I'll just give you your cash then" (which is what I asked in the first place). As she was ringing her register she gave me an attitude and I stated "you don't have to be rude". She then came back at me with "well I have a lot of things to do!" and proceeded to hand me my money and walked off. I went to asked for a manager and he came and advised me that ROSE is one of his top employees. DOES THAT GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO BE RUDE TO SOMEONE??? Long story short, I ended up giving them their ticket back and leaving them the money because I was so mad I had to leave the store. These people think they can just be rude to others. This store DEFINITELY does not have a friendly atmosphere. The only reason why I kept coming here is because it is very convenient. I won't be coming here unless they hire friendly and with proper etiquette people. This is what this world needs right now! read more

I came here today to buy some cupcakes for a potluck and they didn't have it ready. their spot for the cupcakes were completely empty. I looked over the counter and there they were sitting there waiting to be iced. I just wasn't impressed for the fact that they couldn't at least make 1 or 2 sets knowing they are completely out. read more

4 Airbnb owners including myself came in the store. The limit was two paper towels and two toilet papers per client. They said they can only sell us 6 even after mentioning the policy. They said its two per household. We are all Asian, they were racists and then assumed that we were all family. We all have different last names and brought our IDs but they did not want to verify it. The cashier Laurel was impatient, sarcastic and demeaning. She kept over talking Dachi and when I stepped in, she asked "How Am I being rude? The manager Hector Fuentes was requested and she had the audacity to say "You can go get them" Hector came over from his own cashier and was dishonest. He said he was standing there the entire time. He came from register 3. Laurel was at 1 next to the self checkout. Without greeting or asking what was going on, Hector swooped in and started talking about the limit. We have 4 adults once again with IDs, different last names. He said he said "Well regardless we aren't going to sell you anymore". Laurel was in the back smirking as Hector was rudely cutting me off with his rude demeanor. He said to us "We are done here" even though I wasn't finished speaking. If they were nice about it and said "Sorry, we have a limit of 2 and can only sell 6" that would be different. However Laurel and Hector appeared to be racists even with facts. Laurel isn't trained properly to deal with irate clients. She doesn't show any sympathy and uses passive aggression behaviors to treat clients poorly. I came back after asking for John the district manager. He said the best way was using customer service, Yelp or Facebook. So here I am wasting my time because these associates wasn't trained in proving excellent customer service. Hector felt rushed and was impatient because only Laurel and him was running the two lines. He literally just cut us off, told us he was done with us and didn't apologize sincerely. The difference between being robotic and being truly sincere is very noticeable. During this chaotic season, Asians are seen ay Costco stocking up and they assumed we are part of that minority. Such disgust and not surprising for employees in Rocklin. I wonder if I was Caucasian, they would actually be able to tell the difference in our faces? Utterly disappointed and will be posting on Facebook as well. read more

This place continues to be the best pharmacy around because of the AMAZING pharmacist that work at this location. I stopped in today to pick up my regular prescriptions and Steve, the pharmacist, was working by himself. There was a customer at the window asking questions, the phone was ringing and I had just got in line. Steve was calm, cool, and collected. He finished with the customer, told me that he would grab my prescriptions, and then answered the phone. When he returned with my prescriptions, I had a few questions regarding a medication. He took the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions. Although he was clearly spread thin, he did a great job of having a positive, upbeat, and friendly demeanor with everyone he encountered in person and on the phone. Download the Safeway app and in addition to the normal club savings you get extra coupons and it tracks what you usually buy so you will eventually get specialized coupons for the way you shop. Today I did my weekly shopping and spent $132 for a family of 5. I saved $50 with my club card plus earned two gas rewards saving me .20 a gallon. For pricing I really can't beat it. If you are not brand specific you can always find a deal. Produce however is overpriced in my eyes. They are a clean store and the employees are friendly. They open up checkouts as soon as the lines back up. read more

This an excellent Store. The people are very courteous, the Pharmacy Staff is the best I have ever come across (and I'm OLD) bur today I gotta focus on the RIB STEAK, aged, tender succulent, perfect. It is tender because of the natural aging process that Safeway allows to occuer, not because of all the fat. Tender wonderful steak. Aged is better than prime or choice meat because you don't have to waste or eat all the fat. With aged meat you get tender flavorful without the grease. read more

Overall this is pretty good Safeway. While it doesn't have all of the features of a brand new one, it has most. The people working at this location are, in general, very nice and helpful. They have a Starbucks, which is very useful...and a gas station. I would prefer a Wells Fargo ATM to US Bank, but that's not a huge deal. Safeway always has good sales on wine too, which is a plus. :) read more

I went into Safeway for the first time in a long while today. I usually go to target because there's an actual self-check out unlike this Safeway store. Anyways, I went up to the deli counter to get some pasta salad and the worker that was helping me was a young girl my age in her 20s and I was waiting to decide what I wanted and trying think about which one to get. Meanwhile I guess one other person showed up next to the deli counter down at the meats section and started waiting for someone to help them as well. It had only been like maybe 20-30 seconds of me deciding what I wanted and the girl goes "are you going to decide what you want already? Because there are other ppl down there waiting too" and then I asked for what pasta I wanted and it literally was so rude because it was only like 20 second of me deciding! And then throughout the whole transaction she asked me rudely what size I wanted and didn't say bye have a nice day or anything just handed my pasta to me rudely. And then there was another worker already helping the other ppl down the way anyways.. so it was unnecessary to even asked if I was going to hurry up or not. And it was annoying because the deli counter ppl always give me shit and are lazy etc so I might not come back for a long while again. Love Target way more! read more

Horrible customer service and they don't care when there is an issue. I have been there multiple times when the dairy case has had dried crusty milk in the case. It makes it very unsanitary and I walked away not buying the milk. I went and complained to the manager and then I was told it is too hard to keep clean. I was confused by this anyother store I have been in doesn't have this problem. Why is it so hard for them to clean?? This is where people buy food! There pharmacy is awful as well!!! They do not care and very arrogant ad rude! I will not be shopping here or giving them any business! If I could I would give them negative stars! read more

Amber in the floral department here is absolutely awesome. She is very friendly and very helpful. She helped me pick out two sets of flowers that looked good together and she even helped me pick out a vase to put them in for my mom's birthday. Not thrilled with this particular Safeway, though I do like Safeway stores in general. I was interested in purchasing in bulk some Valentines Day clearance items that at this time are marked down 50% (and probably will be marked down to 75% off within the next week). Because I was purchasing for a non-profit organization and buying in bulk, I requested a discount to 75% off in hopes to help clear their inventory. In addition to this purchase which was for a charity dinner for non-profit, I had a personal purchase of grocery items in a cart that I intended to buy (not at discounted prices). The manager said he would not discount his Valentines clearance any further because he could just return to his vendor to get his purchase price from it. I could wait until it's marked down to 75% but then I risk the chance of not having the quantity I would need. Oh well, I guess I'll take my business elsewhere next time...I do not ever intend to shop at this Safeway again and they can keep their clearance merchandise. read more

We moved to Rocklin a little over a year ago and found the Safeway near us. What a blessing! Had birthday party planning dumped in my lap a couple of days ago and I had to come up with the decorations. I called Safeway on Granite Drive and ordered a balloon bouquet. When I got there a little while later it was all ready, the attendant did an awesome job picking out the colors. They also had the perfect flower arrangement to go with it. The prices were terrific and I didn't have to drive all over trying to find what I needed. Safeway has never disappointed us in having just what we need and they're always courteous and helpful. The floral department here is awful! Every time I've come here to purchase flowers, the lady working behind the counter is SO rude! I walked up to ask if she could wrap my flowers in brown paper and she turned around and snapped at me, "I'm all closed up, you can't pay for those here!!" I wasn't even planning on paying for them there since I had other shopping to do so I said ok and I asked her if she could wrap them for me. She basically ripped the flowers out of my hand and slammed them on the counter top almost breaking them. She wrapped them cellophane which is not what I asked for, but I just wanted to get out of there and be done with her attitude. This is the second time I've had an encounter with this woman and I'm not coming back here anymore because of her. She should be moved to another department that's behind closed doors so she can't be rude to customers. You never know what reason people are buying flowers for so it would be beneficial to have someone out there who actually wants to be there and is nice! read more

The sandwich deli at this location is really bad. The ingredients look old and sad. I was losing my appetite as I looked at the dirty floor and counters behind the employee. The bread was dry and old, and the soda fountain looks like a science experiment. Never never ever again! read more

Honestly, I haven't shopped here much since moving back to California. But they had the Starbucks double shots in ad for $3.99 a 4-pack! Went in to pick this up and got sucked into to some Halloween purchases and using the Safeway app to receive my mega discount! Long story short the cashier helping me was unable to do math and got totally confused ringing me up. It was annoying and since I was holding up the line trying to help her do simple math, I decided to say forget it! I paid, headed out to the car to look over my receipt only to find I had been grossly overcharged on everything (except 4 canned items). Went in to get a refund etc swearing to myself I would never shop here again only to meet and be assisted by Jason Ryder! He not only got to the bottom of the problem, but, he was kind and genuinely concerned that there had been a discrepancy with the store app and my purchase which had resulted in me being overcharged! To top it off he even gave me a gift card toward my next purchase. Wonderful customer service and I'll be back to Safeway to shop thanks to this experience with Jason Ryder!
