Two words I generally hate to hear when co-workers are suggesting dining options at the noon hour: Lunch Buffet Color me (and my taste buds) pleasantly surprised. The decor and vibe of the place is legit. You are treated to a wide open view of the kitchen and Tandoor ovens so you can see how some of your food is made and what a clean environment it is. The seating area holds quite a few folks and it is pretty intimate. There appears to be an upper level as well. Seating was comfortable and while tables were close, you still had a lot of room to move around which is important with a buffet. The buffet is set up along a wall of the kitchen and has a nice little divider from the seating area. Not totally obscured but enough so you can see where it is but NOT give you the cafeteria feel. There were 10-15 options on the buffet and, to be honest, I wasn't paying enough attention to what I tried. Everything I tried was fantastic. read more

Came here for the first time and had the lunch buffet, which is reasonably priced at $12/person. It was really nice. They had a good variety of foods and their flavors were great. Not too spicy which is what I prefer, but I'm sure people that like some heat could request something on the side to add to their own. The buffet always seems to have about 4-5 meat options and 3-4 veggie options in addition to salad, soup and a dessert. Service was fast and friendly and their atmosphere is where they really shine. It's a nice setting and a great spot for a cozy date night! I will return. read more

Yum yum yum! Another amazing restaurant by Lavanya and the Saffron Group. And this place is absolutely gorgeous. And necessary for the area. I stopped in the day after they *officially* opened, a friday, around 12pm. I was in the general area, and figured a stop in was needed, as I don't go this far south very often (ever). When I got in, it was dead - a filled table of 2, and that was it. It was also during their lunch buffet time. I quickly looked over the buffet options, and then asked one of the servers if any of it was vegan. It wasn't... which is kind of weird for an Indian buffet. I was starting to think I needed to go elsewhere, but they let me order off the menu. My #1 Indian Food fav is a tassssty Veggie Coconut Korma, and I feel like I need to try each restaurant's take on it. So I ordered that, as well as one of their vegan dosas. I've heard a lot of about the dosas made at Saffron locations, and hadn't tried one until now. For my food to come out, it took surprisingly longer than I thought it would - me being the only person ordering in the building (but maybe they weren't ready for it, being buffet time?). It was about 30 minutes I waited. My food all came out at once. Saffron Circle's Coconut Korma had more veggies in it than I've ever had in this dish before - and for that, I loved it! It wasn't as flavorful as other kormas, but still tasty, and I'd for sure order it again. My korma came out without any added heat, as well (I think I wasn't asked about my heat preference by the server), and I love my Indian Food with a bite. The Dosa was so so tasty. The three chutneys (tamarind, mint...and..... one more) paired well the dosas, as well as for an added flavor with the korma. I don't know how I can ever pass up a Saffron Dosa again - it was so perfect stuffed with curried potatoes and veggies! (Though on the pricier side - 8-9$) This restaurant is so beautiful, and definitely deserves a stop in, if you're in the area and into Indian cuisine. It's so far off the path for my travels, so I can't say I'll be back soon (I'll hit up the SLC ones instead), but when in the area I'll be sure to visit this locally owned, flavorful place, as opposed to the corporate restaurants that are highly saturated in the area. read more

We were able to try this new restaurant last week! The newest venture by Lavanya Mahate from the Saffron Group, it features Indian cuisine and is located in Riverton. The interior design is so elegant and filled with beautiful art and thoughtful decor touches throughout meant to invoke an Indian love story. We had a buffet of delicious food including masala vada, chicken roast, paprika potatoes, Chickpea Salad, Peking Cornfry, Shrimp 65, and Tawa Egg Masala. So delicious! LOVED the Strawberry Lassi!! Huge lack of communication happening on the floor to serve diners. Tonight, I just wanted to order some Biryani and other items. We were sat very quickly upon coming in and that's where the good things ended. We've been here before and the food is delicious. Which is why I already knew what I wanted by the time the water came. They did not seem under staffed in any way as many workers kept coming in and out of the area we were sat in and tables sat open. And yet, after twenty minutes not a single single server, despite multiple attempts to get their attention, had come to take our orders. If there's a delay due to whatever is going on in the background, proactive communication would have been appreciated. Rather than never being served. A simple gesture indicating they'd be taking our order soon would have gone over very well. With that. I'm still going to come back because I never got my Biryani. read more

If Indian fusion is your jam, definitely come here! I went here for lunch with friends and got the lunch buffet special so I could sample a lot of things. It was a pretty sweet deal for naan, palao rice, tikka masala, curry chicken, a Chinese Sesame looking and tasting chicken (it was delish though), salad, and these egg plants that were yummily spiced up. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it all tasted great. It wasn't quite the strong flavors or a typical Indian restaurant but it was pleasant! The price wasn't bad either. I look forward to trying out a few more dishes outside of buffet. Super clean chic spot. I loved the ambiance-very modern Asian. Parking was great. Wheelchair accessible. Overall: Solid Indian food with a gorgeous dining area-an excellent romantic date! Check this place out. Food: Flavorful, well spiced, and balanced. Everything was beautifully plated. I love that they had a "for two" menu with the option to have paired wines. My only complaint, and the sole reason I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 (I wish I could do a 4.5!) is the chicken was slightly dry. The sauce was delicious! Service: We arrived shortly before close, but were seated and served without hesitation. The waitress was patient and helpful as we made our selection. Out drinks were kept full and our food was delivered in a timely manner. Ambiance: I love having a place like this-something you'd typically find in SLC or Park City, in Herriman. Oh wow were we in for a treat! My family and I decided we wanted to do something different, my husband and I love Indian food but don't do it all the time... the kids never really experimented with it before. Usually when we go for Indian we go to another restaurant I will not name. But this is our new favorite. It was delicious. I have a 13 year old boy and a 16 year old girl and my husband and between everything we got to eat it was just like flavors were exploding everywhere! I highly recommend this restaurant to those who like Indian food and to those who have never tried it. The spices and the flavor profiles are just amazing. I give it five stars for sure. It' would be pushing it to give this place 3 stars. We try every new Indian place that we find because we really enjoy it...but this place was disappointing. Let's start with the good. You walk in and see the tandoori ovens--what a great impression right as you walk in! The place was hopping! The vibe was great and we were really excited to try it for the first time. We started with the saffron sampler. It looked great coming out. The tamarind chutney was the best I've ever tasted. I'm guessing they use the jaggery sugar needed to make it authentic. It was delicious. The fish pakora was also on point. I don't know what kind of fish they use but it was light and buttery. Not at all what you're used to when you order fish in land locked Utah. The chicken pakora was also delicious. They clearly used the tandoori chicken from their ovens. It was juicy and flavorful and I was sad we were sharing the sampler-it left me wanting more. The naan was just what you want naan to be-buttery and soft. (One of them was, sadly the other one was a little thin and overcooked to the point of being crispy.) Sadly that's where the good ends. The samosa on the sampler was pure potato. No peas, no spices, no flavor. I doused it in the chutney and it was edible. The other pakoras were one piece of vegetable-carrot, potato, onion, bell pepper-dipped in their flavorless pakora batter. Again the tamarind chutney saved them and made them edible. Next we ordered the shrimp coconut korma and the cilantro chicken. The korma was okay, solid 3 stars. Nothing exciting, just a run of the mill korma. The cilantro chicken was just bad. There's no two ways about it. And I love cilantro! But this was so flavorless it was cloying. I was so shocked by the lack of flavor. The one thing I never thought I'd experience is flavorless Indian food. Slow service. Flavorless food. I'd go to a fast food Indian place before coming back here. read more

My husband and I order Naan and curries on a biweekly basis. We tried Saffron Circle for the first time and weren't impressed. Spice levels were high compared to other Indian restaurants around, but the curries were pretty bland. We tried two different Naans but weren't impressed by those either. read more

No means no. That's what I would've said to our server, Ruhul, when we were making our orders. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious food at Saffron Circle but the service will keep us away. Maybe I'd consider take out but no way will I really want to sit through the experience we had. Whenever we tried to talk, he would condescendingly talk over us and tell us something we should get. If we were less insistent about having six entrees no appetizer, drinks, or dessert, we would've ended up with a five course meal. Yes our party wasn't going to be a big check, but I promise you; my in laws do not eat very much food at all. And he kept changing our order of 3 naans to 5 naans. The back and forth on the number of naans we wanted and the number he wanted us to order took what felt like an agonizing amount of unnecessary time. When we were done eating, he asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu. When we said we were too full, he was yet again being condescending. Saffron circle a great addition to Riverton packing a delicious fresh taste from India the currys really are good what I liked was the mild curry was good and not spicy great for our two children who loved it! The butter chicken samosa were my favorite dish here and it's only at this location! If you're in the Riverton area add this to your list! read more

We pretty much helped to keep this place open during 2020, and now they've repaid our loyalty with absolute rudeness. I went tonight and had the chicken 65, which is one of the best around, and the paneer dosa. Both were really good. After 45 min and literally once I finished, the waiter came by to give me the check and demanded that I leave because some other group wanted the table inside and didn't want to sit outside. The really bad thing is that I had asked to sit outside originally and he said it was closed! I remember way back when they first opened and they were so pushy about getting reviews on google. One our favorites in the southwest corner of Salt Lake Valley! The food is always fresh and delicious and not too heavy (which can often be the case at some "fast" Indian option around town where the gravy's and sauces are too heavy or oily). The menu has a great mix of different Indian cuisine options and we've enjoyed everything we've tried. They also do a good job of tailoring the spice level for what's requested (since we like only mild/moderate "heat" but still enjoy all the wonderful flavors of Indian/Nepali spice). We love the interior design and decor of the place as well, so we'll done! The service is also great and usually there's not too long a wait... and even when there is a wait, it's worth it! Overall one of the best Indian restaurants in Salt Lake IMO. read more
