We spent the weekend visiting Golden, Colorado for the very first time and started to look for a place to enjoy dinner. We are sooooo glad that we found Mountain Tap Bar & Grill. The sign out front saying "Welcome back. Go USA" which is exactly what drew us in! From the moment we walked in and the bartender Marie greeted us immediately and said to pick a seat anywhere. My 305 burger was the bomb and my husband had the chicken burger and loved it as well. While we were enjoying an ice cold beer, the owner Dimitri came out and introduced us and thanked us for coming it. We all hit it off like we were long lost friends. It was fine. I do like that it's a chill neighborhood bar and grill. They have a big menu... but the only vegetarian options are their two Greek salads. I brought my friend and her young daughter for dinner and we had a great time! It was trivia night and the crowd was lively and fun. The staff was extremely helpful and our food arrived quickly. Used to love coming here. However I came here recently for the first time without my boyfriend and was harassed by other regulars and the kitchen staff who called my friend and I b****es. Another customer was allowed to yell racist and sexist slurs and curses at us. Even when I asked for help from the staff, no staff asked him to leave or escorted him out. I will not be coming back and I recommend that no one visit this bar, especially if you are a woman. read more

The worst Management. STAY AWAY!!! Due to its proximity to my place of employment, over the past 3 years I have frequented this establishment with my teams on a semi weekly basis, which consists of 100 sales professionals, and have personally spent thousands of dollars on team outings here, even though service is horrible. Jessica and Marie (bartenders/servers) are THE WORST. They don't smile and are slooooow to serve. We kept going because of how close It was to the office- but absolutely will not be back moving forward. Due to a $25 dispute with one of my employees, which the Manager/Owner REFUSES to call me or her back to resolve- We WILL NEVER GO AGAIN and will take our business elsewhere. I will make sure to spread the word amongst the other 1,100 employees to boycott their establishment due to horrible customer service and loyalty! What a nice little change for this shopping center. Mountain tap is a pretty nice sized bar and grill, it's definitely a nice place to have a party. The beer is always cool and crisp and the burgers (well all of their food really) is awesome! Their gyro meat is beyond scrumptious, I could eat it on its own. Their green chile fries and their Greek fries are delicious too. And their baklava ice cream is a real treat. The service is pretty good, there are times where it's a bit lagging but overall it's really nice. I like the atmosphere and I really like how there's a seating area away from the bar area for people who would like to sit down and eat and chat with company. If your in the area and need a burger and a beer, or are looking for a new place to watch the games I would recommend coming in to mountain tap. I'm conflicted about this one. This is my most-local bar to have a beer and watch the game, so I want it to succeed. Food - I've had the gyro and the wings. The gyro was... OK. No lettuce or tomato, kinda weird. Wings weren't so great, swimming in sauce. Service - WILD variation, from the relatively new bartender who is great and seems like she knows what she's doing to the young blond woman who is totally.out.to.lunch. I was here once when she was working and the whole half of the bar I was seated at was laughing our asses off at how bad she was. We didn't have beers to drink so it was either laugh or cry I guess. Atmosphere - Divey, but that's half the point. I think you need to embrace the sports bar aspect a little more as every time I come here to watch a football or baseball game (and these are local teams or playoff games) they are playing music and I have to ask a manager to change it to the game, which the ENTIRE BAR is watching... 1st time that we have been to the Mountain tap. I was very impressed when I walked In, wood adorn the place on the tables for walls and the chairs very clean very inviting . Tiffany the server and bartender was very personable and friendly she was knowledgeable about the menu and the surrounding areas. Mike who's the cook came out and checked on us. Stumbled in late on a Monday. Hungry and in need of a beer. Not only did they gladly fire up the grill and serve me ice cold beer - they were awesome about it. The lady working was a perfect emissary for Rocky Mountain Hospitality. Sweet, adorable, helpful, and fun. The burger was out-freaking-standing. Seriously, the best burger I've had on this trip. We went on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't that busy. The service was just ok until the night crew came on. Service was terrible! The bar wasn't even very busy at the time. You had to go up to the bar to get a drink. Once you were at the bar you had to still had to wait. Three bar tenders, none were attentive to customers. We also ordered Nachos. They came covered with some sort of meat mixture that completely drenched the Nachos. They were served to us with soggy chips. They were terrible! The man friend and I came here within the first couple of days it opened. I had been in here before when it was named something else and several other people have attempted to do something here. I really hope that MTBG will stay around for a long time this was a great experience. It is located at the end of an oddball type strip mall so parking isn't really an issue. The owner(s) did a great job of renovating the inside, and having the tables, booths, pool tables strategically placed so you didn't feel like you were on top of each other. There are flat screens through out the entire place with just about any sport you can imagine on it. We sat down, and our waiter came over and greeted us. He explained that they had just opened and to please bear with them as they were still working out the kinks. I was kind of surprised (not in a bad way either) that he mentioned that. I am not sure I have been to any place else that has just opened where they were that honest about possible slow service or something getting mixed up. And in all fairness, I didn't seem to notice and kinks or quirks in the service. We ordered drinks and those came quickly and we ordered our dinner. We both had burgers although now I realize that I should have gotten a Gyro. I saw a couple of other people order them and they looked really good. They also had a Gyro burger which sounded awesome!! I guess I will have to come back. The burgers were not over cooked and had good flavor. The fries were tasty and had an interesting seasoning to them. As I said before, I am glad this place has opened up. There aren't a lot of options in this small little area for food so when a new place opens up it is like a breath of fresh air. I've been to Mountain Tap twice thus far and have had a great experience both times. Those of us that are local yokels in this neighborhood know that nothing has made it in this space since Andolinis (and with good reasons, the reasons being the restaurants and not the space or site itself). From what I've seen, the Mountain Tap owners are making all the right calls. The interior is totally new - rustic in decor, an attractive bar in the front, pool tables, TVs all around and comfortable space between tables - you're not constantly bumping tushies with your new BFF at the adjacent table. Service both times has been excellent - a nice balance between casual and professional, and always friendly, helpful and attentive. In my opinion the menu is very smart - it's relatively smaller than many, but plenty big enough - in some ways consistent with bar food (burgers, wings and sandwiches) but with some interesting Greek interpretations (gyro burger - ground beef and gyro meat blended together, and Greek fries - coated with olive oil, lemon, oregano and melted feta on top) and classic Greek items (gyros, souvlaki, dolmades). They round out the menu with a few appetizers, soups, salads and desserts. As for the desserts, I haven't tried it but I won't die a happy man until I've tried the baklava ice cream. I think it's a wise restaurant that focuses on doing a few things well, and that has been my experience at Mountain Tap. We've had a number of their hamburgers and they're not just good, they're really great burgers - half pound, thick, juicy, a great grilled bun (we're not talking Wonder Bread buns), and lots of interesting topping combinations. The gyro burger is unique and excellent as well. The salmon sandwich (cajun style with lettuce, tomato, onion and kalamata olives) is next on my list to try (but probably after the baklava ice cream). Mountain Tap is equally pleasant as a neighborhood restaurant as it is as a neighborhood sports bar. Food value is excellent - everything on the menu is under $10. Directly across Youngfield from Mountain Tap is another place with reportedly excellent burgers and an almost cult following (but definitely more expensive) - Tellers Tap Room. Here's my challenge to the Tellers aficionados - walk across Youngfield and try Mountain Tap and I'll cross over and try Tellers. I don't doubt that I'll like Tellers too, but I'm totally confident that you will really like Mountain Tap, and it's less expensive and much easier to get into. read more

I am the happy hour coordinator at my Engineering firm (100+ people). Our office recently moved down the street from Mountain Tap. Thinking it would be a convenient place for some colleague socializing I invited everyone there for a Thursday night Happy Hour. About 23 people showed up to play pool, darts, eat and drink. Little did we know that they host a pool league every Thursday night (which, of course, is normal and good), but we were kicked out of the entire area of the bar the pool tables are located in; mind you, is literally more than half the bar. We were forced to move all of our appetizers twice because the first time we moved we weren't far enough away from the pool tables. Not only did the blonde waitress/bartender not make us feel welcome or ask us politely to move out of consideration for the pool league (that reserves the tables every week), but her demeanor was very rude almost accusing us of stressing her out with a party of 23 people spending money at Mountain Tap. ***One of my colleagues forgot to pay her tab. I asked the blonde waitress/bartender if my colleague left her card at the bar or swiped it in order to charge it that way. She said 'no' (rookie mistake). Already irritated, I told her, "obviously that's your problem that you didn't ask for her card when she first ordered". Then she THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE. What? Over a $6.00 tab. The biggest problem this new place will face is people finding it. It's in the corner of an indiscript, small shopping center, and one just wouldn't expect to find a place of this quality at this location. The outside may be deceptive, but the inside is in step with the times. It's not the dirty, little bar you'd expect, but, rather, a nice, comfortable sports bar with an interesting menu, great beer, room to move around, lots of games, and lots of TV for watching sports. In an unusual twist, they offer some Greek food, and Greek "fusion" food on the menu. I have never seen this type of restaurant offer Dolmades, but you can get them here, among other, Greek offerings. I like the idea of the "Greek French Fries," but don't expect them to be quite as advertised. The say "melted" feta cheese is on these fries, but does feta really melt? Mine didn't. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the cheese in my fries, (kind of the way Minnesotan enjoy cheese curds in their Poutine), but the olive oil and spices just kind of pooled at the bottom. It was more like someone spilled something on the fries instead of an actual creation. Nonetheless, they were good fries, and it was good cheese. We also had the deep-fried mushrooms which were a big hit, and the Greek Salad. The Greek salad featured onions, green peppers, and tomatoes sliced LARGE on a bed of light lettuce topped with kalamata olives, and pepperoncini. It was pretty good. For the most part, however, this place seems to specialize in hamburgers, and they have some nice offerings. The beer, too, is good, with a large selection of Colorado brewed beers. In any other neighborhood, this place would be a hit, but, in this location, it might be a struggle. I'll definitely come back for happy hour, or when my mother-in-law wants to eat bar food. I especially thank them for the courteous service, and the nice "Living Social" coupon discount. I recommend trying this place if you like good prices, beer, burgers, and sports. This place was a little divier than I expected, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. We stopped in over the summer for dinner and sat outside. The server/bartender was awesome. Beer selection on tap was not great, but they had a little something for everyone. For dinner I ordered the gyros with chili cheese fries (what a wonderful place, where you have the option for both!). 2 of my favorite things, not normally found together. I went to Mountain Tap Bar and Grill for lunch on Sunday and was quite impressed. I am not a huge hamburger eater, but as soon as I saw the 303 Burger on the menu, I knew I had to try it. It was hamburger patty infused with bacon, cheddar cheese, and green chiles. The burger had a nice crust, but was still juicy in the middle. I tried a bit of my dad's gyro burger and that was delicious as well. All burgers come with steak fries, but you can substitute rice or grilled vegetables for free. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant seems well-suited for large groups. The food is reasonably priced, under $10. There is plenty of parking. The room is nice and spacious with plenty of dining tables as well as pool tables. I'm glad to see a new restaurant has taken over this space as it has seemed like a revolving door for years. I hope people will take notice of Mountain Tap Bar and Grill and they can make it in this location. read more
