The address I used in yelp took me around the corner. Keep in mind this is located in the Indian plaza where there is ample parking. The lady in the front was nice and let me sample a bunch of flavors. I like how they're unique and tropical. You can tell from the taste that it's homemade flavors. One scoop is 3.25 and you can choose from a sugar cone, cake cone or cup. I wish the ice cream was a little colder/harder because it was like melted soft serve. I think they shoulder lower the temperature in the tub freezer to solidify the ice cream a little more. In addition, some flavors tasted grainy and overly sugary like guava. I got lychee and pistachio which were the best flavors imo. It's hard to miss really. The saffron and rose were a little too sweet for my taste but definitely sample the flavors to see which one you really like. The lychee had chunks of real lychee in it. Yum! read more

We tried four different flavors and the best of the "exotic" flavors was Kulfi Kreme. Lovely notes of cardamon and other spices. Note that Kulfi Kreme is not included as part of the multi-scoop offers (we also ordered a triple scoop boat). KK is charged differently. This is hands down the best dessert spot in Artesia. I've been searching for a spot that compares to kulfi from India and this is the closest thing I could find. If you're trying to get more bang for your buck, get a kulfi Falooda to go. It's a larger portion and you get several scoops of ice cream inside so you can try many different flavors. Overall it's cheaper than paying for three separate scoops of ice cream. The staff is very friendly and if you ask, they'll let you sample as many flavors as you want. If you're a first timer make sure to try the Rajbhog, Kulfi Creme, Pista, and Gulkand Ice creams. They'll remind you of home in an instant. For the Falooda make sure you ask for the frozen chia seeds. My only complaint is that they advertise fresh sugar cane juice, but never actually have any sugar cane in stock. When we lived in the Bay area, it was always an Indian ice cream place we'd go to for ice cream as we preferred the unusual and exotic flavors over the more traditional, and we found that the Indian ice creams had better flavor in terms of creaminess than those which added weird emulsifiers to their frozen treats. I was already stuffed to the brim by the time we walked out of Ashoka the (not so) Great, but I wanted to try something. Like always, I just sampled what everyone else got. Hubby got this flavor which I can't even remember the name of. It was yellow and had cardamom in it and had a weird name -- ok it was Rajbhog. That was pretty good. The other one I liked was the kulfi which Mike L got. THE Judy got pomegranate which was nice and refreshing. Ordinarily I would've asked for samples of the chikoo and also the rose. After two visits to this place, I'm still not sold. The flavors are exotic but doesn't taste high quality to me. I judge the quality of ice cream by my stomach. For me average ice cream gives me a stomach ache; high quality (organic) ice cream doesn't. This place gave me a stomach ache so I know it's not high quality. Texture was a bit icy on some of the flavors as well. $2.95 for a single scoop of ice cream seems a bit steep for non organic ice cream. I can get two scoops worth of high quality organic ice cream for about $3.50-$3.75. These are the flavors I tried: Pistachio - flavor is pretty good but tasted artificial. Didn't taste like pistachio other than the little chunks of pistachio inside. Sitafal - Not quite sure what this is but tasted like mild cheese. This was my favorite. Rose petal - tasted exactly like rose petals. Little too strong. I enjoy artisan flavors like honey lavender but this tasted like sweet hand lotion. Falooda - this isn't a flavor of ice cream. I came by here with my husband a little over a week ago on a Saturday to meet with another couple of friends for some chilly treats. We arrived a little after 1:15 pm and it was not busy. We tried a few flavors of their ice cream and ended up getting: 2 scoops ($4.75) of Saffron and Gulkand. Saffron had a nice flavor that reminded me of the spice. The Gulkand was also really nice, as it had a great rose flavor. Really liked both of these flavors and would get them again. 2 scoops ($4.75) of Vanilla and Tutti Frutti (what my friends chose). The vanilla was pretty standard but the Tutti Frutti was a real interesting flavor. It tasted like a candy flavored ice cream with bits of jelly like pieces in it. I thought it was good. Waffle Cone ($0.50) Sugar Cane Juice ($4)-. My husband got the small size. I am not a fan of sugar cane and thought this was too sweet for me but he really liked it. ------------------------ (Total= $14... don't forget the check in deal where you get 10% off your total purchase. Unfortunately my husband forgot to check in and so he paid full price for his drink). My friend ordered Kulfi ($3.50) just to try. It came in frozen slices/ pieces and tasted like ice cream. But it did melt rather quickly and ended up being one pseudo-drink in a cup. And the vermicelli noodles were an interesting take, but I would have prefered just the scoops on their own. Saffron Spot is my favorite spot for eating Indian ice cream. You will find this gem in a crowded plaza in Little India in Artesia. You won't see them from the street. Have to enter the plaza parking in order to locate Saffron Spot. Their brochure pretty much says it all. "Get ready to experience a new taste sensation!" They have created many unique and exotic flavors. The young gentleman who assisted us was kind and patient. He let us sample quite a few flavors before we made a decision on what we wanted. My father n' law is not very adventerous. He had the basic flavors of chocolate and raspberry. He said they were good. I settled on two flavors that you don't see at normal ice cream shops. One scoop of Rose which was delicious. One scoop of Raghjoob. This unique flavor is made up of pistachios, almonds, cashews, cardamom, and saffron. I highly recommend Raghjoob! Since the scoops were a bit on the small side, I had room to try my wife's order. Malai Kulfi and Pista Kulfi. They fully satisfied! Both flavors were very good. I slightly preferred the pistachio flavor more, but would be happy with either. Wish the prices were a bit lower or the portions a bit larger. Other than that, I have no complaints with this tiny ice cream shop. I look forward to trying more of their ice cream and other products in the future. We got the ice cream Falooda, the lady served us the scrapes of the ice cream leftover from the container. I honestly thought she was going to open new carton. But no she served the icy left over. The goal was not to find the best ice cream parlor, nor the worst, and to see what was out there, instead the goal was to have a frame of reference when peeps or fellow Yelpers ask, suggest, or check into places. Last stop from official list of LA Ice Cream Crawl, with "armed with an appetite and not afraid to use it"!!! PARKING: Small lot (Little India Village Food Court) Street parking INTERIOR: Vibrantly painted walls and bright, colorful accent shades to match the glowing colors of their fresh juices, shaved ice (gola), and ice cream. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The young ladies were helpful and patient as cohort and I sampled quite a few flavors. ORDERED: A split scoop of gulkand [pink] and kanu dash [rum raisin] for cohort, split scoop of chikoo and sitaphal for me. Chikoo had a sweet, malty flavor, sitaphal was fragrant and sweet, as well, and resembles and tastes like custard. IN A SCOOP: Parking was acceptable. We found street parking about half a block away.
