We've been here many times over the years, and about two weeks ago when we visited the restaurant had a very safe and conscientious approach, everyone was wearing masks, tables were being sanitized in between seatings etc. Today we were surprised to note that not a single staff member was wearing facemasks. I'm a big fan of Sage Biscuit, have gone to the second location downtown multiple times. But I was very upset when I saw I could put myself on the waitlist for this restaurant and it wasn't accurate. I put myself on the waitlist for 3 people and it said to check into the hostess stand when I got there. I arrived and was told they have "no access" to the waitlist on Yelp. Please remove the waitlist from your Yelp account then, this is giving people inaccurate wait times. Please do better and update your Yelp account. Super upsetting and unprofessional. read more

Lord knows I live for a good brunch. There's a surprising lack of brunch spots where I live so when I find a place with all my favorites (eggs benedict, huevos rancheros, pancakes, skillets) I get excited. My boyfriend and I headed right over after getting off a very early morning flight from NJ to Tampa. We were ravenous with hunger. I started my mini vacation with a peach mimosa. I wish this used peach juice or nectar instead of an artificial syrup. It tasted good but I prefer the more natural option always. Coffee was good, too. To eat I had the crab cake benedict on biscuits with side of potatoes. Everything about this dish was deeeeeelish. Eggs benedict on crabcakes is one of my favorite things. The biscuits here were f-ing awesome. The potatoes dipped in the rich hollandaise were to die for. Even the slice of orange garnish on my plate was the sweetest orange I've ever tasted. Wide selection of breakfast items and generous portions. The food is very good and the service is friendly and experienced. On this particular Sunday of a 3-day weekend, during snowbird season, there was a 45 minutes to one hour wait. We, a party of 3, did see quite a few people in groups waiting and wondering in the ample courtyard but noticed the tables were quickly cleaned and the wait staff was greeting you quickly. We put our name in and were able to get a shady spot to sit and watch. It was nice to watch the outdoor seating with fans blowing and doggies chilling as their folks waited for their food. There is the reason for the 3 stars, I slowly started noticing that although the staff was efficient in turning the tables when they were vacated, and it do not appear like anyone was just hanging out, most if not all the tables outside had drinks but no food. No food at many tables, would account for the wait time and the fault lies with the kitchen. The food might be great but if you cannot get it out of the kitchen, then this place needs help. Unfortunately, it took us three over 35 minutes to get a basic off the menu brunch items and it seem to occur to pretty much all the tables around us. Folks were just sitting around with refilled drinks waiting for their food. That's really a huge bummer since the food was delicious, once it did arrived. I also felt bad for our server who kept apologizing when not once did any of us say anything about the delays. I did hear her apologize to several tables. Guess it's frustrating to the servers, if you have a crowd of people who are hungry and waiting to be served and no food comes out of kitchen. Hard on their tips too, less people fed, less money. We were kind with our server and she even smiled with appreciation. I may try this place again, after snowbird season because the food was good. read more

An absolutely fantastic breakfast experience as this was one of the best breakfasts I have had to date! I ordered the key west omelette and at first I must admit I was nervous about the concept of shrimp in an omelette. The omelette was simply fantastic and it couldn't of tasted any better! The shrimp were a great size and the cheese on top just made this delicious. The breakfast potatoes and sausage were top notch as well. Service was excellent and quick which was really great for such a busy place. Overall this is my favorite breakfast spot now and I am very excited to return!! read more

I had high hopes about this restaurant from reading some reviews and reviewing the menu but was somewhat underwhelmed as soon as I arrived based on the atmosphere. The decor is dated and dingy. I feel they needed a makeover like on Restaurant Impossible. The menu some great options which was a plus. Unfortunately, we waited over 30 minutes for our food once we ordered. While waiting, I observed a multitude of flies all around (gross) and saw a waitress handle money then grab a pickle with her bare hands and insert into a Bloody Mary. I was grossed out and was ready to leave but our food arrived 5 mins later. The food was good but due to the atmosphere, cleanliness and slow service, I won't be back. read more

Cute little spot with a nice patio. I appreciated the vegetarian and vegan options. I went with the portabello wrap, potato salad, and chickpea salad. The flavors of the portabello wrap were too overpowering - just too much going on. I think perhaps replacing the sauteed onions with fresh red onion to cut the taste, and creating a blue cheese spread instead of straight-up blue cheese, would have been better to appreciate the portabellos. The potato salad was OK, hard to explain but it just tasted off. My favorite thing of all that I tried was the chickpea salad. We ate here three days in a row and all three times were amazing. The service was incredible. I think we had Courtney one of the times. Great breakfast menu, but if you get there later and want lunch there are lots of other choices. The Crab and Avocado Salad was a clump of field greens with nothing else tossed in with the greens. A huge portion of crab with avocado underneath and topped with chopped tomatoes and corn. The crab had very little mayonnaise, which was a good thing. But there was no seasoning to make the crab special, (not even a lemon wedge). The staff is very friendly. But be ready for someone to sweep the floor right under you while you're eating. They're located on a busy street with a parking lot across the street. There's outside seating in the shade or indoors in the chilly air conditioning. read more

I have a rule of thumb, always go to a restaurant with word "biscuit" in its name. So far this rule has worked out beautifully for me. I had bookmarked Sage Biscuit right away and was super excited to give them a try. Safe Biscuit was everything I could hope for and more. First off, for the area they have the best prices because food in this area can be pretty pricey. While the food is super affordable, the quality is high and the taste is outstanding! Because we all know I'd bury myself in a bed of biscuits, I had to try their biscuits and gravy. Guys, it was seriously one of the best B&G dishes I've ever had. Gravy was beautifully seasoned and those biscuits! Come on! Those things are insane! I'm going to need like a dozen.... for snacking purposes. And for $7.99 that's literally giving away the best B&G money can buy. If you're looking for a more traditional breakfast but want a bit of a sampling, their Sage Biscuit plate is the way to go! You get two eggs, choice of meat, choice of French toast or pancake and choice of biscuit or toast. If you're right if mind, you'll get the biscuit. Anyways, it's a simple traditional choice but boy is it good! My wife and I tried Sage Biscuit Cafe for the first time this morning. We arrived at about 8:15 AM. and were seated without any wait. We continued to sit, and sit, and sit. Another couple them came and sat outside as well. Then we both sat and waited for about 5-10 minutes with no server. The other couple went inside to ask if they had a server. They were immediately helped. Their server took their order and while walking inside looked at us and continued inside. I waited a couple of more minutes and then I went inside to inquire about a server. I still had to wait several more minutes until our server came out to take our order. The wife and I both ordered the jalapeño, bacon and fried green tomato eggs Benedict. We opted for it to go on top of the Sage biscuit. I also ordered two chocolate chip and coconut pancakes. The food was fabulous. It is the only reason I would be willing to go back. In hindsight I would only order one pancake because they are very big. The biscuit, fried green tomato and egg were a delicious combination. Once we got a server the service was fine. I would recommend Sage Biscuit Cafe to anyone in the Bradenton area. read more
