Went back to this place because last time was pretty good. Boyfriend ordered corn beef hash and loved it! Green and red peppers in homemade hash we're exceptional! I went with the smoked salmon Benedict again but I ordered it with capers. It was scrumptious - lots of salmon, excellent eggs and hollandaise. The capers kept if from being too rich. Mimosa's to complete the brunch were reasonably priced at $4. Betty, our server was helpful, friendly and quick. Stopped at Sage Biscuit this morning for the first time. Since it was a weekday before 9 they weren't too busy, and we were seated promptly. The menu is pretty diverse- my daughter had the apple cinnamon brioche French toast- which was so good she ate it without syrup!. I asked for the waitress' recommendation for my meal, and I had a very tasty spinach and tomato eggs benedict. Very, very nice hollandaise sauce and two perfectly poached eggs were the stars. My side of bacon was crispy and delicious. My mom ordered eggs and bacon with home fries and a biscuit. She loved the potatoes- but the Biscuit (is that THE Sage Biscuit?) was perhaps the worst biscuit we've ever tried! Dry and chewy with a cardboard layer at the bottom, and the slightest hint of flavor that made us ask "Is that Sage?" Really bad. Coffee was mediocre but hot and plentiful and I like the little pitcher of cream straight from the kitchen instead of little plastic artificial creamers. The staff was nice, but didn't really do any more than was absolutely necessary. I really want to love this place, so I will try again, but in a town full of really great breakfast diners Sage Biscuit will have to do better to earn my continuing business! Sage Biscuit take #2, and I'm really glad we gave them a second chance! They were really busy today, but the service was great! I had the Key West omelet- if you've ever wondered about an omelet with fresh Florida shrimp, jack cheese, red peppers, and hollandaise, don't wonder anymore! It was amazing! We stopped for brunch here before going home from visiting AMI. The cafe is in a little plaza which made parking easy and had plenty of spots. There was no wait time and we were seated immediately upon arriving. The menu had a variety of choices and prices on average frim $7- $10 per plate. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring our drinks were always filled and we had what we needed. I ordered the jalapeno bacon, fried green tomato eggs benedict others had the biscuits and gravy and the sage biscuit skillet all of which were excellent. The portions were very generous so you will definitely need an appetite when visiting. I didn't get a chance to try the mimosas however they had 5 varieties all of which sounded tasty. I will have to sample them the next time I'm in the area. If you have a pet you can bring them but must be seated outside. They provided water bowls for the pets and it is shaded underneath the entire outside area. Great spot for breakfast or brunch! read more

I discovered this place not long after they opened their first location. Now they have a second location, 14th St, just South of Manatee Ave in the high-rise financial building. Frankly what that building has long needed was a decent restaurant after several awful or lack-luster occupants. Now they have it with Sage Biscuit Cafe. I have often used the Cortez Rd location for business and personal meetings, the entire menu seems to be good and I have a few favorite items. My FAVORITE is the Meatloaf Sandwich, the meatloaf has portabello mushrooms in it and on its own it would be wonderful, with their nice bread it is even better, but that's just my take. All the meetings I have taken at this place, no one has ever been unsatisfied with their food, a pretty good recommendation. Service is usually good, but there have been instances of inconsistency over the years, one of the reasons for only 4 stars. They seem to have reigned that problem in, but with help being what it is in this area, and they now have two large restaurants to staff, I would understand an occasional lapse. Price wise, it is on the higher side for breakfast/lunch places, there are many places you can go where you can eat for less, but you get what you pay for and Sage Biscuit is decidedly better than these no frills places. Expect to pay $10-$15 per person, drinks and extras included but not tips. If this is out of price range, then stick to the inferior coffee shops that dot the town. read more

Someone new, and all started out good, until I asked her, when she was going by our table, if she would bring a portion of the forgotten meal that I had ordered. We stopped here for breakfast this morning, and, to be safer, sat at one of the outside tables. When our waitress came to the table from inside, she was not wearing a mask. After we asked her why, she said it wasn't required. Manatee County, Florida had revoked its mask mandate several days earlier, but we still expected that a responsible restaurant would care enough about protecting its older customers against COVID-19 to continue such a basic safety factor as having the waitresses wear masks. Apparently, for the management of Sage Biscuit, this isn't the case. We got up and left before getting a menu, and will not be returning to Sage Biscuit.
