This little hidden GEM is a real treat! This is the second time I have been here, so my review is a combination of both visits. THE FOOD: 5 stars The food is AMAZING! It is fresh, viabrant, flavorful and the portions are perfect! I am a VEGAN and tofu is one of the protiens included at no extra charge. The prices are reasonable as a whole....wish I could give it 10 stars! THE SERVICE:3 stars First time-service was a 5, the second time service was just OKAY( so 3 out of 5 total) They seem to be understaffed especially for a saturday. There were only 2 servers and I believe only 1 chef (that is all I saw but could be wrong) during peak lunch time. We were a party of 4 and there were a total of 14 people in the place. Our main entrees came out at different times ---first out to last entree out- served was a 10 minute delay spread. Removal of dirty dishes from app's cluttered the table until we had to request them to be removed because the tables are so small and no room. THE AMBIANCE: 5 stars The restaurant is really cozy, tastfully decorated and set up well. First time we visited we sat outside which the weather was beautiful and the tables outside are quaint. This time we had to be inside because the weather was cold and rainy. We did not feel crowded in the space and we were very comfortable. We have only been here during lunch service both times, I look forward to coming for dinner service sometime! THE SCOOP: 4 stars We REALLY LIKE this place! In fact, we travel 2 hours north to get here and meet up with family who travel south here from Bay Area. Next time I think we will meet a touch later so we are not stuck in the peak service hour. I really love the food and this restaurant BUT the poor service we had this time really took away from the whole amazing experience. for 4 people--- shared appetizers, 2 drinks each and entrees our bill was $135 without tip....this is not outrageous but it is not a cheap lunch either by any means... I do expect better service to make this price -FOR LUNCH--worth it! That being said, maybe they should consider an extra chef and extra service person during peak times on the weekends so parties like us eagerly come back. I am not sure if the family will want to come back. They are pretty hardcore about service and they are the ones who paid for it... we will see. We were so bummed about the service in this place. The hours state that they close at 3pm. We arrived at 2:30. They promptly told us they CLOSE AT 3PM. We made our selections pretty quick (appetizers) and it took us 10 minutes to flag someone down to take our order (2:40pm) As soon as we put our first selection in they said OHHH, SORRY OUR GRILL iS NOW SHUT DOWN. It was my first time here, small menu but my dish was delicious. This place is very clean and spacious, staff is very nice and friendly. We were served quickly and the food was made quick as well, I had the #R5 Sausage fried rice, and it was good! I must say it's a 10/10 and now whenever I am in Gilroy, I will make it a habit to stop by here for some tasty Vietnamese dishes. Portions are big and you definitely get your moneys worth. A little quaint restaurant with big flavors. They are tucked away in a big shopping center in between a cleaners and an Italian bakery. There is plenty of parking but may be scarce when busy. There is a handful of seats outside and 2 bench like tables outside. I ordered the following to-go: 1. Saigon Special Pho Noodle Soup beef with egg Noodle substitute: my son was craving pho as he had a little bit of an upset stomach earlier. He said broth was rich and felt good. 2. Jasmine Rice Plate with pork chop: vietnamese style. Pork chop was marinated in lemongrass and grilled yummy. 3. Pad Thai tofu: son #2 wanted pad Thai. You can opt for protein but my son is vegetarian so I ordered him the tofu, veggie and egg option. He said it was flavorful and everything you want in a pad thai. 4. Pork Egg Rolls: crispy, plenty of well seasoned filling. Comes with sweet chili sauce for dipThai. You get 5% off if you pay in cash. I don't think I've been to any restaurant that offers that perk so it was nice. $60 for all of the above and substantial portions. We'll be back! I do understand hole in the wall or greasy diner goodness and this wasn't that either. When you say Thai you need to deliver. That's why all the low star reviews. I'll give it three stars. Came here after craving something spicy after shopping in Gilroy. I like thai food and get it often, so I was excited to try this place. I got the chicken satay as an appetizer. It was some of the most tender chicken breast I've had! The sauce was also great with it. The beef (crying tiger) was pretty spicy and tender as well. The carb options were a bit of a letdown. The drunken noodles were not my favorite. I've definitely had better- too much veggies, noodles weren't amazing, and too sweet. I think think the meat was the star for me! I ordered Chicken Pad See Ew, my usual, but sadly it just missed the mark. Since we had a great experience on our last visit 3 yrs ago. We decided to eat here before a soccer game. We ordered the Vermicelli bowl with bbq pork and the rice plate with bbq pork. Now I'm not Vietnamese BUT the Vermicelli bowl is my favorite Vietnamese dish besides Banh Mi! and I've ordered it 1000's of times so I'm 100% sure that the noodles are not supposed to be served steaming hot! Even after I poured the fish sauce on top, it still was steaming! All they had to do was place the noodles in an ice bath for a few minutes and then serve it the proper way! Even the dipping fish sauce was bland. No signs of red chilli or garlic. Also, the pork for both dishes was not grilled! Imagine having a slab of Char Siu(Chinese BBQ pork)then it's placed in a Pho and lastly it's placed on a rice plate and or a vermicelli bowl! That's what it tasted like and looked like it too! Was craving thai food and came to this place and the staff was super friendly. It wasn't terribly busy on a saturday night but it was close to closing time. Tucked away in a bigger shopping center and you may just miss it. Got the Kuey Teow since I don't see that on the menu very often, pad see ew and chicken satay to go. The food came out quick and was just piping hot when I got home. The portions here are pretty big and 1 entree can easily be shared with 2/3 people depending on your appetite. Saigon-2-Siam has been our go to Gilroy restaurant for the last many years. After a visit to Gilroy Gardens we always stop by and grab some dinner. Easy kid options and large shareable adult plates. We haven't been too adventurous with our order after finding what we like, we have been sticking with Pad Thai, Larb, and Chicken Satay (although the kids have recently fallen in love with the Fried Shrimp). Easy parking and a Dollar Tree close by for kids to pick up some dinner toys/drawing. read more

The one star is only ok because atleast the beer was cold. We went once before and had the pad thai. It was decent so we went back to try the banh mi. We ordered one bbq pork and one spicy beef. The bbq pork was rubbery and cold. The bread not toasted and had a weird old texture. The second sandwhich was wrong, after taking a couple bites we realized it was cold white colored chicken. We told the young man they brought us weird chicken instead of beef and he said. Oh sorry. We love banh mi but this was horrible. Drunken Noodle (pad kee mao) is my default choice for noodles at a Thai place since I've never been disappointed by this dish before. However, I was very disappointed with their version of the noodle. I've had other drunken noodle where there were more veggies than noodle before, but this one felt like it was 80% veggies + grilled pork and 20% noodle. The entire dish was covered by huge slices of carrots...so if you love carrots, you might like it. The noodles were also cut in smaller pieces, so it didn't give me the satisfaction of slurping the noodles. All entree options comes with rice, which I thought was nice. Their beef and chicken tastes great, grilled pork was just okay. I didn't like the quality of the rice, but technically it was free so I shouldn't complain. Some part of the rice was a bit too wet and some parts too dry. When we asked the waitress how spicy is their Thai spicy, she replied with "it'll make you sweat". LOL. I'm happy to report that their Thai spicy does indeed taste spicy. They didn't compromise the spice level. The restaurant also have containers of spicy sauce (it looks handmade) on the table. I accidentally added too much of the sauce, so I couldn't tell which spice flavoring is from the dish and which was from the sauce. The spicy sauce condiments tasted great though. Overall, I'd recommend their meat options, but not so much the noodle. read more
