This is for the Saigon Bangkok in Hamburg village that just opened. I was not wanting to leave this review, but hopefully the workers there will see this as what to fix rather than a bad review. For months, me and my boyfriend were excited to have something new other than the usual american food in Hamburg. We love Thai and Vietnamese food and usually go out of our way to get some. So you can understand our excitement when we found out Saigon bangkok was opening near by. We decided to go for lunch and ordered the Red Curry with the Tom Yum soup to-go. His father ordered a pork dish and soup along with a few other friends. The curry wasn't bad. I've definitely have had more favorable curry at other places. Sort of the same reaction with the others. The soups on the other hand was not good at all. They looked like greasy dish water and was super sweet. We did call them to let them know and the staff was super nice to offer us another soup, however we were running a little late and had to pass on the offer. Side note: I know it's not the soup because I've ordered this soup many times before from other places. We do realize that this is their 2nd day and that mistakes like this can happen. So I decided to give you a 3 instead of a 2 star. Overall we hope to give you guys in Hamburg a second chance in the near future and hopefully a better review :) read more

First dine in experience since COVID-19 shut down their dining room. We'd had take out a few times since the pandemic began. The Panang and Green curries were top notch. My wife had the seared duck which she reported was very good. Sometimes appetizers are all you want when you come here, and you'd be well served. Their Tom Yum soup may be the best soup in the world, and that may only be slight hyperbole. The soup combined with Summer Rolls is a meal in itself. It is too easy to lack self control when at this restaurant, so you order a main dish anyway even though you are full. Whether its Pad Thai, a curry, fried rice or a stir fry, it is easy to rationalize ordering too much food at Saigon Bangkok, you can always take the rest home and have a terrific lunch or two with the leftovers. read more

I used to visit this location years ago but I'm not sure what stopped me from going. I regret not visiting more often! My friend and I visited for lunch because we tried going to another place recommended to us but was closed. By the end of our meal, we discussed how happy we were the other place was closed. My friend and I were hungry after a morning of shopping so we decided to order a few things and split. We both started with a bowl of won ton soup and split a Vietnamese pancake and chicken pad thai. Won ton soup is one of my favorite soups so I was excited when I tasted it and found it to be one of the best won ton soups I have ever had. The broth was flavorful with slices of chicken and the dumpling was freshly stuffed with chicken and pork, and not overcooked. The Vietnamese pancake was huge and stuffed with shrimp, pork, onions, bean sprouts, & scallions. It comes with a vinegar like sauce to pour over it. The pad thai was traditional and delicious. I did need to take away a star for their speed. It felt like we waited hours for our bowls of won ton soup to come out. My friend and I discussed how long it took and were growing impatient. This stretch of Niagara Falls Blvd doesn't have the best options for restaurants, so I'm happy to make the drive to eat here. The owners are always present either to greet you as you enter or to refill your lime water table side. There are 4 menus to choose from; their lunch menu which is served Monday-Friday. You have a choice of soup, veggie roll or spring roll along with your entree. There is a vegan and gluten free menu for those who have dietary restrictions. We've ordered food from here MANY times and always enjoyed it. Tonight we placed an order to pick up and were told they were out of white rice would brown be ok... not a problem. When we arrived to pick up the order they said no one by my name called in an order, asked what # we dialed then rudely walked away as I was pulling it up on my phone. Even after showing them the # and repeating that we were told there was no white rice (how would we know if we hadn't spoken to someone??) they insisted we never called and continued to treat us very rudely. They never apologized and said "you can order now" then completely ignored us. It was clear that someone made an error but rather than admitting it and apologizing they treated us as if WE had done something wrong. I've always enjoyed Saigon Bangkok, but nothing has ever blown me away. It's a great go-to restaurant when you have a thai-vietnamese yearning. The decor is pleasant and seems standard for most asian fusion restaurants. The service is reasonably fast, and I've always had good food. The curries are really their strongest dishes. All are somewhat creamy and flavorful. My favorite is the green curry, which has a hint of coconut, but can also get really spicy. They can flavor your dish from 1-5 star heat. 4-5 star heat is for people accustomed to eating hot food. Last night I had the Thai Salmon. It was a nice red-lemongrass curry on the house specials menu. It was very tasty, but none of the flavors in the sauce complimented the fish. Coming home from spending a weekend away and having nothing in the refrigerator for dinner. I told my girls that there was this new restaurant that I wanted to check out. I didn't know that this was their second location. Located at Maple and Transit in the former Touche restaurant. We went on a Sunday night and after waiting for a table to open, decided to take seats at the bar. Only being in business for three weeks, I was informed that they still had not acquired their liquor license. Plenty of room around the bar to enjoy a drink and maybe some appetizers if one didn't feel like sitting down for a dinner. I don't know if the decor is left over from the former restaurant, but we found it very pleasing inside. Will be looking forward to returning and checking out their selection of wines. I'm not familiar with Thai or Vietnamese cuisine so me and my girls were very anxious to taste what we ordered. My oldest tried the Chicken Satay with peanut sauce for her appetizer and was very satisfied. Three skewers of chicken was more then plenty for her so she shared some with me. I tried the Spring rolls and was very pleased that they weren't greasy, but nice and crispy. For our dinners my youngest tried the Pad thai which is stir fried noodles with chicken and enjoyed that very much. Never having curry I tried the Mango curry with chicken and was wondering if it was going to be on the spicey side, but was very happy that it was a sweet dish. My oldest ordered the Ginger scallion with chicken and complimented on the dish several times. Their portions are deceiving and you get quite alot more food then you think. I always second guess seafood when its not from a steakhouse. The shrimp was cooked perfect and very fresh. My friend I was with had Salmon and it was cooked perfect as well. For dessert, I had the cheesecake and that was good as well! I am hard to please when it comes to food because I feel if Im paying for a meal, its needs to be perfect. Saigon Bangkok is a very lovely restaurant that has been around for about 14 years. I am a prof. at University at Buffalo and have always enjoy my dinning experience at the restaurant. I have introduced several of my colleague and none of them have ever been disappointed. Saigon Bangkok is a family own and operated business and every thing they do is with passion and care. This can be seen through the food and decor. Every dishes seem to be very well thought out and executed with the utmost care. I, for one, do not care if it is not authentic since America is a melting pot of cultures and what best to have a mixture of fusion between the two cultures with well balance and excellent fusion of flavor in their dishes. Some of my favorite dishes are listed below with description from the best of my memory. Vietnamese Pancake: A crispy crepe filled with sauteed pork and shrimp serve with garlic sauce and a large helping of side garnish of lettuce, cucumber, and pickle dicot/carrots. Cube Steak: extremely flavorful tender steak cut in small cubes, well seasoned with what seem to be a mixture of garlic/black mushroom sauce served over a bed of lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. Dancing Seafood: Spicy but not too overwhelming. Full of flavor from the lemon grass and red curry. A mixture of shrimp, Sea scallop, fish, calamari, and mussel. Beautifully arrange served with a clay pot of steaming hot rice. Definitely a must have for seafood lover. read more

My partner and I were excited to try this place given that we are from out of town, and we follow a vegan diet. That excitement quickly turned to disappointment based on the service and food we received. We ordered spring rolls, summer rolls, green curry, and tofu vermicelli. The spring rolls were delicious, so we got a second order of them. The summer rolls were standard, but I'm used to having them with peanut sauce rather than hoisin sauce. Both entrees needed more seasoning. The green curry was very bland despite having two spice level indicating stars next to its name on the menu. Maybe I'm spoiled by the variety of vegetables that I receive in my green curry back home, but it seemed like this curry was thrown together with no care. It had a couple pieces of tofu and snow peas in it. 98% of the time, I will eat a dish that is brought out to me even if it does not taste good, but I asked to return the curry after two bites because even my hunger could not mask the glob of tastelessness that it was. I asked to trade it out for the tofu vermicelli because this dish was decent after we added salt and pepper to it. When we made the request to our server, he went over to the owner/manager to check if it was okay to make the trade and she dismissed him and told him to have one of the other servers check on our request. The new server took the curry and put our new order in. As I waited for the tofu vermicelli to come out, I watched the same manager who did not come over to check on our table after I made my request for a new dish personally joke with, bring tea to, and check on all of the other 3-4 tables that did not have occupants who are minorities. She had to walk past our table to do so. She walked past us and did not say a word to us. I wouldn't be so bothered by this if the restaurant was busy, but it was not. There were a bunch of open tables and she was not occupied. By the time I got my food, my partner finished his meal. We had to salt and pepper the new dish just as we did before. The manager only made her way to our table when we were ready for the check. As we left, the server wished us a good night, but the manager, who was standing right next to her, did not. I watched through the glass as the manager quickly returned to our table to check the tip that we left. The food was mediocre and the service from management was discriminatory. I am a big fan of this restaurant I love Pad Thai and on numerous occasions have ordered this for my dinner. However on Tuesday A group of 3 of us went out for restaurant week and I went outside my box and ordered chicken Pad See Ew and was presently surprised! It was a large portion and had lots of flavor! We also got an order of the crispy vegetarian spring rolls (which I was not to impressed with- they were very small and lacked flavor unless dipped in the sauce provided), Tom Yum soup (really good! never had it and was surprised by the sweet and sour flavor), and Papaya Salad (also very good loved the sweet dressing). The other two guests ordered Green and Red curry which were huge portions and they loved it (not a fan of curry cannot speak to the flavor!).
