Thank you Yelp! I was craving some Vietnamese pho and wanted to try out a new place. There are few other restaurants that serve Vietnamese near by, but based on the reviews, I picked this one. As most local Asian restaurants in the area, it offers basic no frill decor, yet it was tasteful and clean. I was very happy to find Bobo Teas on the menu. Variety was outstanding! I settled on papaya and was not disappointed. Not sure why it had some whipped cream on it, sounds a little Americanized, but it was very tasty and even creamer when expected. I ordered pho soup. To my surprise, they brought we small dinner salad that came with it. It was fresh, crisp and had home-made ginger dressing. Very nice touch and was appreciated. My soup was good, can say that it stood out among local restaurants, but it was consistent and flavorful. This place is a definite keeper. What an amazing restaurant! My husband and I just got home from a month long trip abroad and, this Vietnamese food is and authentic and delicious as anything we had overseas. The service was fantastic, our drinks were never empty, the Thai tea was great and my husband just loved the Vietnamese coffee, the cocktails were perfect and at $3.95 an incredible deal. We had spring rolls and fresh rolls to start which were simply superb. My husband got the "H1" a noodle dish with squid, crab claws, shrimp, and pork which was just delicious and I had the beef curry which had just the right amount of heat and such great flavor. Awesome place to go to if you want to eat at a sit down restaurant, with the convenience of being near USF. Love it! I went here with a friend from class after being drained from a Chem test, and was looking for a place to unwind and stuff our faces. She is new around Tampa, and hasn't ever been exposed to very much Vietnamese food, so I thought this would be a great place for her to try it. We walked in, and the place was nice and clean. We were a little indecisive, but our server was patient with us and very kind as she explained everything to my friend. She ended up ordering the lunch special with included a little bit of everything: fried rice, a protein, and an egg roll. I decided to go with the round beef pho. Everything came out hot and fresh and the portions were plentiful. I felt like I was eating my soup for a good 15-20 mins and barely made a dent in it. Great value for your buck! I have to give credit where credit is due. This Saigon Bay Vietnamese Restarant met my best expectations for me trying it out for the first time. I had quail...A plus is the rating from me. The quail was fresh, tasty, exquisite, and the skin was golden brown and crispy. Just like I like my chicken but this quail was better than chicken. I also had a dish with grilled shrimp noodles and a vegetable mix. It was delicious also. I was very well pleased with how inviting and friendly the staff was. They were all very friendly and kind. They answered all questions that I had without hesitation and was courteous while doing so. Kudos to you Saigon Bay! Came to this place after one of our performance and this is the closest as everyone is hungry, starving and tired. As always it's hard to pick a dish from the menu and I don't want to keep on ordering some pho that I usually get. So it took some time for me to decide in what to order. The server suggested some dish but I don't want to try it. Everyone already decided in what to order and she was waiting for my order and I guess she was in a hurry to get my order and again she suggested to order something that I don't want to try and I eventually told her to get the order on the other table and just come back for me to get my order. I'm kinda pressured to order in a hurry because of that. I wasn't happy about that. The feeling of being rushed! So I ordered spicy pho. But after that event it was all good when the other member of our group saw a fly in their soup and told the server. The server said SORRY and gave them a new soup. Maybe my best experience eating at a Vietnamese restaurant in Tampa. I didn't really order true Vietnamese food, I had their ~$5 Sweet & Sour Chicken Combo which came with spring rolls and rice, a good deal. I ate the chicken, but didn't really eat too much of the rice. The chicken was tender enough and the sauce tasted good. I also order some fresh rolls, which were great with some hoisin sauce. They apparently have bubble tea here, so I'll have to come back and try it sometime. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere to it and the smell wasn't strong like at Pho Quyen. They had some bamboo decorations and nicely colored walls. Service-wise the waiter was friendly and took good care of us. read more

The first thing I ordered was hot tea. When it arrived it was Jasmine, but certainly not hot. Barely warm might be a better description, which means by the end of my lunch it was totally cold. After ordering my bún with charbroiled pork & spring roll, I was presented with chopsticks and a small plate of spinach leaves drenched in the kind of "Oriental" dressing typically reserved for all-you-can-eat hibachi joints. I guess this was some attempt at "salad", although I've eaten at my fair share of Vietnamese restaurants and never had it before. The vermicelli in my cold noodle bowl were not the kind I usually see in this dish. They seemed more like angel hair pasta than rice vermicelli. So be it. But there was so much leaf lettuce in the bowl that I wound up picking a good two cups' worth out to get a good balance of greens to noodles. Maybe I shouldn't have wasted my time because the pork was overcooked & so chewy, I had a hard time eating it; the spring roll was "ok"; but there wasn't much cuc, pickled radish/carrot, bean sprouts, or mint in there to liven things up. No cilantro. Watered down nc mm pha poured over top & mixed around didn't improve the flavours. BTW, this wasn't the first time I'd eaten at this restaurant. Starters is the complimentary salad with "Thai" peanut sauce. Random, yes. I shouldn't complain since it's "complimentary" but the portion size of the salad is quite small, no, ridiculously small! I was done in two bite, no lie! But the sauce made up for it, I suppose. Like others, I had their popular Charbroiled Pork w/ Vermicelli. The portion this time was finally plentiful. Unlike other Vietnamese restaurants, the pork were actually on skewers(thumbs up), laying across the bowl making it that much more appealing. The meat was perfectly grilled as it was not too dry or too juicy and the flavors were marinated well. After the first bite, I could tell the meat was made in a patty style then grilled because the meat would fall apart nicely in your mouth. Their fish sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste but still complimented the meat, veggies, and noodles well. They also had Grilled Squid on Vermicelli which is I would think is a wild dish but it wasn't as wild as I thought. Just like the Charbroiled Pork on Vermicelli but with squid instead ... I've been eating at Saigon Bay for years! The Spring Rolls are THE BEST!! I love the Charbroiled Chicken Vermicelli bowl-- it's filled with rice noodles, fresh mint, veggies and chicken skewers and its served with this yummy brothy sauce. I'm also a big fan of the fresh rolls! The Jasmine Tea is awesome, and they actually make a pretty fantastic Long Island ice tea! I've also had the chicken soup to go and it's fresh and delicious. My only complaint is that my order has been wrong a few times, but they are typically really apologetic whenever that happens. read more

I ordered the Com Suong Nuong Bi Tau Hu Ky (charbroiled pork chop, shredded pork, and meat cake), Krabmeat Ragoon, and the Fresh Rolls through DoorDash. While I did enjoy the krab ragoons and fresh rolls, the pork chops I could not eat. It look appetizing and smelled delicious but as soon as I ripped a piece of the pork chop off and all I saw was pink on that piece of meat and the bone. I will give this place a 5 star. The pho is ON POINT. Flavors are so unbelievably good! I go there once every week day being close by to work. I always order beef broth with chicken and meatballs. It's an amazing combo since the beef broth is anyday more flavorful obviously than the chicken broth which comes with the chicken pho. Tried their grill chicken is pretty okay as well. But this place rocks in pho. Two pho comes to around $20 which I believe is not bad considering you leave feeling pretty full! read more

We ordered Togo and after one look at the food we ordered we decided they gave us some old left overs. The egg rolls were old and gray. It was a very rainy summer afternoon and I had already driven to and from South Tampa twice as I had forgotten my house keys at my beau's apartment. I live on the opposite side of town-a good 30 minutes away. I was tired, frustrated to high heavens and was on the verge of a pounding stress headache. I needed some comfort food and I needed it fast! For most native "Tampans," food like chicken noodle soup, Mac n cheese and fried chicken would be the likely "pick-me-ups." Not I. For when I'm feeling down in the dumps, there is only one thing I crave: Vietnamese Pho. I've had Pho at many fine Tampa Vietnamese establishments but there happens to be a very good (and very cheap) option near USF, just 10 minutes from my home. I walked into Saigon Bay and wondered why on earth they were so slow. This place is awesome! I've truly never had a bad experience when I've dined here. Knowing exactly what I wanted, I placed my to-go order for the Beef combination Pho and threw in "fresh rolls" for an added palate perk. With a $2 tip for the to-go service, I spent under $15 on one HUGE bowl of Pho and 2 shrimp stuffed fresh rolls. When I got home, my belly was aching for comfort from the steamy hot soup. I poured half of the broth into one of my medium-sized mixing bowls and then added the meat- only using half of the generous portion of medium rare beef slices and meatballs. I topped it off with the traditional pho ingredients that Saigon Bay had so nicely packaged separately. Bean sprouts, jalapenos, cilantro, mint, glass noodles and even a bit of srriacha were added to the aromatic beef broth. With fork and spoon in hand, I devoured half of this fresh and healthy soup in no time. Four hours later, I indulged in finishing my comfort food favorite and ate the fresh rolls for dessert. No complaints Saigon Bay. No complaints at all. read more

I have to say that this is the best place for pho by USF. My pho is always fresh and delicious. I love that I can come here on my lunch or between classes and get a good meal for a great price. The atmosphere and waiters are so inviting, which helps to add to the overall appeal. They also offer boba tea and Thai tea which makes it a one-stop-shop for me. The only reason that I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have a go-to pho place by my house that is insanely amazing. Overall, this is definitely a great place to grab lunch and decompress for a while. The portions are more than adequate and the prices are great.
