Went again last week to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Generally as good as usual BUT a less than flavorful pho broth! We (hubby and I) share the beef pho with the sliced beef. Generally VERY flavorful beef broth,,rich w flavor. This recent order we got the egg rolls(, good, but tasted a little too porky?) their Yummy Pork fried rice w grilled pork (the best!) and the beef pho. The pho beef broth was lacking in flavor- felt watered down! PLEASE, make sure your pho base is yummy! Just spice it up and deepen the beef flavor! Also offer extra fish sauce! This is a regular spot for me, but I usually do takeout only. It was a treat to go in and actually sit down. The owners are always there and give you very fast service! The veggies are fresh, meat is fresh, everything- the best tasting fresh Vietnamese food. I usually get the spring rolls with extra Thai basil, those are my go-to all day everyday. Today was cold, so a soup was on the menu. This may look like a whole in the wall, but the food is top-notch! You can have large parties if necessary as there are table tops as well as booths. My Fiancé and I were trying to decide at the last mitigation where to go for dinner, I wanted to try something new and I recalled seeing reviews for Saigon Bowl here in Yelp so we decided to give it a try. We walked in to this dark, cozy and intimate spot that surprisingly for a Friday night wasn't too crowded. I wasn't too hungry since I had a large lunch so I decided on trying a bowl of their wonton soup and my fiancé had a craving for fried rice and chose the house special fried rice. My soup was light and flavorful and the wontons were very tasty. I tried the fried rice that my fiancé order and it was really good with generous amounts of shrimp and large pieces of chicken and pork. The service from our server and the owner was very attentive! This is a mom and pop that you know has perfected their craft. They have nice comfortable booths and plenty of seating. The thai tea, the pho, the service was top notch! Additionally our server was great she also remembered her regulars and their order. I love stuff like that! My mom, gma and i all order pho. They got chicken while i got beef. I would avoid this place. The food isn't anything special but the service was horrible. The soup my friend received barley had 3 small pieces of meat, the pho was like warm at it best. We had to reheat and add more spices and meat for him to eat. Just avoid and go somewhere else read more

The quality is questionable. Very very questionable. Not authentic like other Vietnamese places. Reminds me of going to a friend's for dinner unannounced where they would whip up anything / whatever was in the fridge, maybe even leftovers. That's the quality of the entrees here. For a restaurant, that doesn't sound very good. The pho, bun bo hue does not taste authentic. More of the box noodle taste or pre-packaged noodle packs as their broth. The portions are small (like 5 bites & you're done) & not filling like a normal Vietnamese place. The pho I would rate 0/10. Bun Bo hue 0/10. Egg rolls 0/10. The place is empty the couple times I have gone here. Not a single soul dining in. Never seen another Asian person dining here. That says a lot. Seems to be more take-out than dine-in. The owners are Vietnamese & they asked me how it was. I had a blank stare. Kind of shameful to call it anything Saigon when the food is far from it. I hate giving bad reviews to Asian restaurants... it is just not the quality of authentic Vietnamese. This place, however, I can see that it may do pretty decent as they don't have any competition as to Vietnamese restaurants in Clearwater. Came in for a quick lunch and left with a tasty vermicelli pork dish. After adding the cost of two egg rolls, the price of the dish was almost $20, which seems a little high. But the service was quick, the portion was tasty and fresh. read more

I witnessed one of the employees answer the phone on speaker phone. Some lady asked a question and she just hung up because she didn't understand. Wow what an amazing experience. We were so hungry we ordered fried egg rolls, vegetable fried rice, beef pho, coconut curry soup and beef tips. We took the pad Thai, beef special and fried rice to go. So yummy!!! I drank every last drop of the soup. The two male and female server were sweet and efficient in clearing the table, refilling drinks, and very fast about the food. We came 30 minutes to closing and left 5 minutes before. The beef pho lacked some flavor but was overall alright. As for the shrimp pho, my mom didn't enjoy the mix of random vegetables which included broccoli and carrots--not customary for pho--in her bowl. It's easy to grab seats on a Monday night at 8:30 pm, and I'm grateful they stay open late. There aren't many Southeast Asian spots in this area, so I do have to be forgiving. read more

I wanted to like this place because of the older people working there appeared to have been there a long time. I came here on Monday after class and it was super busy, Families eating and Uber/pickup orders filled the storefront. I was seated in a timely manner and they had a reasonable sized menu. There were photos to help along with descriptions. Most of the food is 10-17 dollars. The actually Phó itself was steaming hot and served with a side of vegetables ( bean sprouts, mint, jalapeño) they had three sauces on the table to add as well. The bowl was filled with a lot of noodles and beef. There was definitely beef with every bite and the broth was contrasting between flavorful and refreshing at the same time. My Thai tea was a 2.5- I'm unsure if it was the brand of tea or the milk they used but it was like drinking food colored milk with a pinch of Thai tea. Not my favorite but I order it with my Asian noodle dishes every time so maybe next time it will be great They had stellar reviews and seem like a neighborhood favorite. read more

This was a very good choice for authentic Vietnamese food. There were many good choices on the menu, but my wife and I tried our staple Pho Tai in order to compare with other Vietnamese restaurants we've been to. But I also got the Bun Bo Hue noodle soup because I wanted to compare with one I had in Los Angeles. My wife was very satisfied with the Pho Tai. She said the meat was not quite as tender as we had it elsewhere in Los Angeles, but it was very good. It really hit the spot and covered her craving. The Bun Bo Hue was a great recommendation by our waitress. I asked if it was going to be too hot, and she said spicy, but not hot. I wasn't sure what she meant and was a little nervous, but I got it anyway. As I ate it, I could feel the spice in my mouth and a little in my throat, in a good way, but I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I finished it completely and realized that maybe I would find out later if it was too spicy for me. Later, I found out that it was no problem at all. No indigestion, no reflux, nothing like I've had at a Mexican restaurant recently when I mixed up the sauces. Well, the noodles were a little softer than I would've liked, and was used to, I don't have any complaints, just praises. The meat was delicious. The flavor was delicious. We also had the eggrolls. They were very good. Similar to good eggrolls we've had elsewhere. We shared a Thai tea, which was very good. Our waitress was very nice, as were all of the other people there who helped out. It was clearly a family restaurant, run by a family. When we entered, there were no customers. Within a few minutes of our car being parked outside, another couple came in... And then another couple. Within a half hour a large family type group entered, all of them Vietnamese. That's always a good sign. Soon after, another large group of Vietnamese, and then another. This restaurant is clearly favored by people who are sensitive to quality and authentic home cooking. As soon as the restaurant was filled with Vietnamese people, I realize my opinion on whether I should recommend this place or not was really not that important. My having been to Vietnam many times and eaten Vietnamese food many places in the United States, was less an endorsement than the number of Vietnamese choosing this place for their family meal. read more

I saw the amazing reviews on Yelp from this restaurant and with this colder weather I was craving soup. I am a big fan of Pho, but this restaurant was just okay. The pho was average, but the restaurant itself was underwhelming. It didn't feel very clean. The restaurant was dated and appeared to have been a buffet restaurant previously like Old Country Buffet. Everything was sticky from the table to the sauce containers on the table which made me weary. Service was okay. I brought home my leftovers and didn't end up finishing it, which is uncommon for me. Saigon Bowl was just a smidge better than ok for me. I am a hars judge when it comes to the flavor I enjoy from Phó and noodle soups. Service is friendly so I definitely appreciated that. The menu has a decent amount of offerings from both north and south regions of Vietnam. I started off with fresh spring rolls. The pork was very porky. I have a restaurant in Hillsborough that I much prefer these there. The accompanying peanut sauce was very good but also used a lot of soy, fish sauce and Sriracha that was on the table. Speaking of Srircha the lid was so clogged up when I squeezed it to use it it got everywhere! I mean all over me everywhere. I had to laugh but it created quite a mess. Next I ordered their version of BBH. They call is Spicy Lemongrass soup. It was not spicy to me and the flavor was good. Not over the top but good. Their bowls are huge so I appreciated the value for my money. All in all I will likely explore more menu items here again but may try another spot in the area first. read more

We decided to try Saigon Bowl for an early dinner because our kids had sports and we wanted some Pho. We started with egg rolls and spring rolls both were really good. The kids had fried rice, I ordered the house special pho and my husband choose the spicy lemongrass soup. Kids devoured the fried rice and egg rolls the pho was delicious. My husband liked the soup but said it was definitely different and he would be trying the pho next time. Saigon bowl has a pretty large seating area perfect for big families. The waitress was nice as well. The only thing negative I will have to say is cleanliness of the high chair and napkin dispenser at our table were pretty dirty. We will be back for more pho and to try other items on the menu. Love that this place is just up the street from us! P.S. The iced coffee is pretty good too! read more

Sometimes I feel like the places that have the highest ratings on Yelp and Goog are the ones that simply purchased reviews. We are consistently disappointed by restaurants with anything close to 5 stars. It seems like a lot of the time, the reviews are misleading. This is one of those times. Negatives: The kids pho for $6.99 is not a good value. Tiny portion with 2 or 3 slivers of meat. The big wonton soup was so-so but skimpy on the wontons. For $13.99, not a good value. The vegetable pho had 3 or 4 pieces of broccoli and barely any other vegetables. They asked if I wanted to add tofu for an extra $3. What? I don't think I've ever been to a pho restaurant that makes you pay extra for the tofu in the veggie pho. It was reasonably priced, but with the tiny amount of veggies, NOT a good value. The bathroom door is gross (see picture). I was afraid to touch it. How long would it take to clean that? 3 minutes? The paper towel dispenser and the soap dispenser in the bathroom do not work, so they just set the paper towels on the wet dirty bathroom counter. Gross. Positives: Big parking lot. Easy parking. Average service (just what you would expect from a pho place) We will not return here. read more
