The food is so good I've only ordered pho, but it is such a great comfort food and I've ordered it to go. Every time I come in to pick up everyone is very nice and welcoming. The setting of the restaurant is very relaxed and comfortable there is an option to sit outside for when the weather is nice or to dine inside as well. The Saigon Café was recommended to us by our hotel concierge, and we were thrilled with the lunch experience we had there. We were the only ones dining in the casual, yet nice, dining room, but we did not mind, because the service was fast and friendly. We each started with hot coffee, which was served in a little kettle that was steeping the grinds. The coffee was bold, rich, and delicious, though rather pricey at the $7 we discovered later on the bill. For my meal, I had the Com Ga Hainan, which started with a base of ginger rice that had been cooked in a clay pot. It was topped with pulled chicken, ginger, soy sauce, cilantro, and onions. The chicken was dark meat and served at room temperature, and I thought there could have been more of the included soy sauce. However, I knew that was how the dish was supposed to arrive. The chunks of cooked ginger had infused the rice with a strong, zesty essence that was insanely delicious! The dish was served with a side of cabbage salad (like a cole slaw without the mayonnaise) topped with peanuts. My boyfriend had ordered the Ga Xao Xa Ot, which was a straight-forward stir-fry made from lemongrass chicken, chili peppers, onions, and garlic. He had the spicy, saucy meal with brown rice and loved it! After we were done with our tasty meal and on our way out of the restaurant, I noticed a "YES" sign be displayed in the other room. Apparently, Kelse S., the St. Louis Community Manager, was about to host a Yelp Elite Squad event there! It was such an ironic experience, but also so nice to meet a fellow Squad member when away from my home chapter! Saigon Cafe served one of the best Vietnamese meals I had ever had, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

I hate doing this as this is one of my favorite restaurants in the CWE. I ordered quite a lot of food yesterday early evening. It was ready and they were nice and accommodating on pickup. I left them a decent carry out tip. I really like the way they pack a large order. The numbers from the order are on top so you know who gets what and if there are two containers for one order, you can match them up. That's where things went wrong. I had two bags of food and matched everything up (I had one order but for two different households). My Pho Ga broth was there but not the most important part, the insides of the soup. I don't live near the restaurant. I had spent the day at Barnes with my sister who is recovering from surgery. Because I didn't have what I ordered, I called just to let them know. They offered to remake it but I'm not close so that won't work. The manager then started to tell me that it is virtually impossible that they left it out because they double check bags two to three times. They asked if I checked all of the bags and I told her that I did (even drove to the other house to check and checked the car). It wasn't anywhere to be found. I wanted them to know that it wasn't in the bag, be more careful next time. We were not asking for a refund and I wouldn't call if I had my complete order. When a customer calls, don't say that you can't have made a mistake. She kept saying it wasn't possible that it was left out It was a good chicken broth meal and it better be for $13.50. I was very disappointed because I was starving because I hadn't eaten since breakfast. Keep eating there, it's good but check your bag before you go if you have a carry out order. read more

Waited 35+ minutes for salmon spring rolls and bo kho. Waitress didn't check on us once until a couple minutes before our food arrived. She told us that the cook burned the salmon and that they're remaking it. That's still not a good excuse for how long we waited for the food. Especially after not being checked on after waiting over half a hour. The food was not good. The salmon was extremely dry, and the bo khó had no flavor. The picture on the menu showed that it comes with bread. When I asked the waitress, she said it only comes with rice. We only took 1 bite out of the salmon and she still charged us for it. Came to STL for the weekend and walked to this Vietnamese joint. Had appetizers including shrimp dumplings and spring rolls - waiter confirmed that shrimp dumpling filling is made in house. Dumplings had a vinegar/soy based dipping sauce which made them feel light and the spring rolls had a sweet/tangy sauce - complimenting them nicely. I had the B1 which was the lemongrass beef with vermicelli and meat egg rolls - great dish all around - beef was slightly chewy which was not unexpected or a negative just a different texture. My wife had the salmon which had a good sauce but was a tad salty and the fish itself left a bit to be desired as it had a mild toughness to it. Let me start by saying that I absolutely love Saigon Cafe. I've loved it since it was known as Little Saigon. My wife introduced me to this lovely little spot while we were dating. Yes, pro tip here: this is a great place for a 1st date.....or 2nd date......or, well you get the picture! The space is rather small, but it works really well. It's very inviting and the staff is extremely friendly. The front entrance is a bit weird as you have to walk a short narrow corridor from door to service stand.....it can get tight with folks walking in and out. They also have a cute patio with ample seating and great views of people walking along Euclid. The CWE is a fun people watching zone. Okay, let's get to the food. I have yet to have a dish that was less than fantastic. For this visit, my wife ordered the E1 ( Bo Luc Lac) with tender cubes of steak, black pepper, onions, tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce and a sauce called Nuac Mam. I don't even know how to describe it.....how about delicious? I should also disclose that she orders this dish every time. It's so good, she can't change it up. I normally order the pineapple fried rice because, well you know, the pineapple thing. But I switched up entirely by going with the Vietnamese fried rice (E10 - Com Chien Trai Khom). It's okay, you can laugh at this, but it was fantastic ....chicken, shrimp, eggs, onions, peas, carrots, more of that magical nuoc mam, and Chinese sweet lap cheung sausage. I apologize to those of you who may be drooling right now as I wanted to take a picture, but it looked so good when the server laid my plate down, I dove right in and completely forgot to take a picture. Trust me, it looks as great as it tastes. The topper of the evening was our surprise to see none other than Joanna Serenko (top 9 contestant from season 18 of The Voice) serenading the diners. If you have not had the opportunity to see Joanna live, you really need to make it happen. In fact, you can make happen on Friday, July 28th here at Saigon Cafe! Located in the heart of CWE this place is loaded with shareable contemporary Vietnamese cuisine. They are knowledgeable about their menu including food and beverages. They have speciality cocktails as well as mocktails. The bartender can make just about any drink! All the food was delicious, we had an array of different foods. My favorite was the spring rolls and tofu! The tofu was crispy on the outside and cooked perfectly! Highly recommend coming here! Only disadvantage is parking in the CWE. Ordered the Pho Tai and it was actually pretty good, maybe the best pho I have had in the St. Louis area. I really appreciated the broth which was on the lighter side so you could drink it by itself. Sometimes the broth in pho is too sweet and so it's hard to drink because it's super flavorful. The beef was cut too thick so it wasn't exactly tender and didn't cook well in the broth and so it was still raw. Ended up not eating a lot of it. Overall, solid pho place (especially the broth) minus the raw beef. Would come back to try some of their other items. read more

Have been making it a mission to try more places near my apartment. Found Saigon's cafe was about five minutes away and for them to be so delicious is dangerous. I know I'll be returning here far too often moving forward. We ordered carry out so I did not get the full on experience of their restaurant but for the short time inside I would say it's a spot I'd love to sit down and have my meal in. The menu was very descriptive and helped us decide which entrees we'd go with. (See picture for list of entrees purchased) The dish I had came with very tender and well seasoned beef, noodles, onions, a mini salad and two beef spring rolls that were delicious! 10/10 The second entree that was order was chicken, veggies, peppers, onions, and rice. Seeing that there was nothing left on the plate, I knew it very enjoyable as well. On the side we also got some shrimp spring rolls and their vegetable medley. This place is amazing! Our neighbors introduced us to Saigon Cafe and we absolutely adore it. I love everything that I tried. The food was fresh, healthy and delicious. I didn't feel heavy after dinner and felt extremely satisfied. I will most definitely be going again in the near future. This will also become a staple for sure. Saw a post of this restaurant on IG and immediately put on my places to try list, and it did not disappoint. My husband really enjoyed his cocktail. I'm not much of a bourbon drinker, but it was really good. It was too hard to decide which appetizer to try, so we tried 3 different ones, and they were all very tasty. After a long cold day, I knew I needed some soup, and Saigon Cafe delivered. I ordered the noodle soup with shrimp dumplings and pork and it hit the spot. It was flavorful and warm and exactly what I needed, they also have chili paste, siracha, and hoisin sauce on the table. My friend ordered the non-alcoholic guava and ginger drink and it was delicious. I ordered some plum soju, but it wasn't for me. If you are into soju, more power to ya, but it just wasn't my favorite drink. All in all, I would definitely come back and try some of the other entrees on the menu and get that guava drink because it sure was tasty. read more

The food here is amazing. It feels like comfort food, but it's really fresh tasting and doesn't weigh you down at all. My favorite dish has been the stir fried lemongrass beef. It's tangy, slightly spicy, and served with two of the best meat spring rolls I've ever eaten! I love the fresh herbs that it's served with and has al dente pieces of onion. I also love their veggie rolls, pandan cake, and mix veggies. I've never gotten anything from here that I didn't love. I first visited Little Saigon Cafe while they were open for curbside pick-up during Covid so I can't speak to the atmosphere, but I can tell you about the amazing service!
