Let me start by stating 2 facts. 1. I grew up right next to Little Saigon in Orange County, California which is home to some of the best pho outside of Vietnam. I know good pho. 2. This is the WORST attempt at pho I have ever seen and the WORST food I have paid for in my life. It smelled like the Astoria dump. Opened the lid, I smelled that familiar scent of summer time rotting municipal garbage dump. I wretched. I still had to take one bite to make sure. It was unusually slimy and I spat it out. Immediately dumped it in the trash. My cousin didn't even bother taking a bite. He threw it in the trash as well. Also the egg rolls were not Vietnamese egg rolls. We saw two Asian ladies with big bowls of pho at a table and thought it must be good. It was cold outside so we gave it a try. First bad sign was a no refund sign at the counter. Second bad sign was that nobody was manning the counter (had to yell for them a few times because they were in the back chatting). Third bad sign was that the Asian ladies had left while we were waiting for our food, having hardly eaten their pho. The pho is huge but also with a big price tag. It tasted horrible. This isn't the Pho you are looking for... We made a quick stop and ate here during one of our excursions to Seaside. The place has a divey feel to it. After reading all the bad reviews of the place we still decided to risk it and try it out. You Live Only Once/ YOLO right? The place is located right off of Broadway in beautiful Downtown Seaside. It is basically right near the little mall they have there. There is street side parking and also a parking lot in the back of the building with plenty of spaces. The tables/ seating are joined with the other smaller restaurants that share the building with Saigon Deli. There is also a bathroom around the back that is accessible. After placing our order we found a table and waited for our food. The pho had noodles, meatballs and meat. The broth was OK tasting, but there was not a whole lot of meat or other ingredients included (tripe, brisket etcetera). It did come with sprout, basil and lemon wedges as garnishes. The meat did not taste all that fresh and it looked like it was just thrown into the bowl with the broth instead of nicely spread out. With the cost of a bowl of Pho being around $10 there, I was not impressed with the Pho that we paid for. I wouldn't recommend the Pho here at all. The other dishes did look good from looking at the pictures. But, I would not order the Pho here again. While it is the only place around Seaside that serves pho you are not going to be happy with what is served. read more

I was spending the weekend here in Seaside OR. and while walking the Broadway strip, I saw this Vietnamese food place. It's inside what looks like a food court and it's basically fast food. Just eat and keep going, not a place to linger in enlightening conversation. Too bad the food tastes like what you'd expect in a mall food court Viet place. Not a lot of depth to the flavors and meat was tough. Skip this if you're walking the strip. I you do really just have to have pho, it's the only Viet place in Seaside. read more

Ok. For fast food Vietnamese food. I eat lots of Pho and this place is not the best. But only Vietamese restraunt in Seaside Oregon. It's like eating from food court at a mall. The price is little spendy for the quality you get. I guess if you really desire Vietnamese food this place will do. Very dissapointed. The food and chef were alright but the management of the front two women were terrible. They weren't doing anything and chatting the whole time causing the cheff hard time. They made us wait 15 minutes because the two front staff forgot to place the orders to be made. I asked for the order togo and they gave me a bag and was Criticized by another customer because they didnt give any napkins or utensils. Those front staff should of got more training and should be ready for a job, if i was the boss there I would of fired those two on the spot read more

Wasn't sure what to expect. Reviews were either amazing or terrible, but my friend wanted some Asian food in her belly stat and we were worried about early Sunday closing times. We ordered just before 7 and it took nearly 15 minutes to get us our food (rice with pork and vermicelli with shrimp). We were the only ones waiting for food. It was $9.50 each and cash only. Yikes. We were asked multiple times if it was for here or to go. Again. Only ones there. Ample sauces to choose from while you wait. Seating very limited and the place isn't exactly spic and span. Right on the main stretch through town, so expected it to be a little overpriced, but again. Desperate time, desperate measures. While we waited, the girl you order from (maybe 14??) confused a guy named Earl's name with Girl. The wait for our food was approaching 20 minutes when it finally arrived on the counter. Service was subpar at best and parking was tricky being on the main stretch. The food ended up being alright. We were starving by the time we ate it, so that definitely influenced our opinion. I went to Saigon Deli to get a bubble tea today. When I got the drink it was watery and not blended like it is supposed to be and how it is pictured on the website. I've always been happy with bubble tea from here but it was not made right this time. When we went back in we explained what was wrong and he said in a condescending tone "well that's how we make it." I told him that was not true as I had been there lots of times before and it tasted just fine in the past. The drink should have a slushy consistency. I think he forgot to put the Ice in it before blending. The counter person offered no resolution to the issue and did not offer money back ($5.00). I couldn't drink it so I threw it out. Perfectly respectable Vietnamese noodle soup. And something important to remember, it's the only game in town as far as Vietnamese. There are two Thai restaurants in town, but only one Vietnamese. I was in the mood for asian food I found this place on yelp and decided to check it out. I ordered a Chicken Pho soup and Iced Coffee and to go Vietnamese Sandwich for later. The Pho soup was really good! It definitely hit the spot and very tasty. It had fresh vegetables on the side to add to your soup bean sprouts, mint leaves, Cilantro and peppers. The coffee was great too!! I had my sandwich later on that day and I wish I ordered two!! It was very yummy. I will definitely come back here. I got the beef sandwich and it was very very tasty. This place has the best bubble tea I've ever tasted. There are dozens of flavors, a selection of boba, popping boba, and jellies to put in the drink. This bubble tea is made smoothy style with a real bubble tea plastic seal instead of just a plastic lid on the cup. If you've never tried bubble tea, Saigon Deli is definitely a great place for your first experience. The owner will even help you choose a flavor. I recommend taro, red bean, lychee, or coffee. Salad rolls were very good but the pho soup was a bit on the sweet side and this is before I put hoisin sauce in it. We squeezed lots of lime and siracha sauce into it which made it better. We also had the pork fried rice and it was a little on the salty side. I've had better but slim pickens at Seaside. Would definitely go again. Best Pho I have ever had. One time I did have to ask for Basil, and one time there was a misunderstanding with the order. I have been to many pho places but I am still on the hunt for a place within 50 miles of my home that is as good as here. Broth is very flavorful. Can make two meals out of one bowl. Spring rolls are also good. I cannot wait to go back. I'm always thinking of their pho. I will never visit Seaside without going here. You may have to wait a few minutes for a table, but it's worth it to us. The owner(I'm assuming) is also friendly. read more

boba tea tasted like ogre piss and milk

This place is OK for Seaside I guess. I mean there aren't alot of Vietnamese options out there. I stopped by Saigon Deli on my way back to the car and ordered a grilled beef sandwich. Got my sandwich and I loved that it was warm and toasted (just the way I like my banh mi) but they do skimp on their filling. Maybe that's how they roll in Seaside but back home in Seattle or even if I'm in Portland or California, the banh mi's are always filled with meats, cilantro, cucumber, pickled veggies and jalapenos. A bit disappointing but it filled my craving for some comfort food that I know. Maybe that's just me having high expectations since I grew up on Vietnamese food and know how a legit banh mi should be. Would I go back? Probably. I might try their pho but I know it won't be as good as my mamma's. read more

Not impressed. Asian food from two young white kids. We ordered in it took absolutely forever to get our food. My kids got food from the Mexican restaurant next-door and then we had to get our kids an elephant ear just to tie them over and we still had not received our food yet. The kid behind the counter seems like an absolute newbie and doesn't know what's going on. The food finally came out and the egg rolls are disgustingly greasy and burnt... Under new management and it really feels like the child working up front, yes I said child, didn't want to be there nor was trained on how to greet/talk with customers. Stopped in yesterday to grab a quick bubble tea. There was an older vietnamese man working the counter - I am assuming it was the owner. It was THE WORST 2 minute consumer experience I have ever had. As I was giving my order the man held up his index finger to me to have me stop, muttered something incomprehensible, then walked straight into the back (where he was still visible) and then took his cell phone out and answered it. After talking for a moment he turned around facing me and continued to talk (it was all in vietnamese). Then he walked back up to the counter and proceeded to talk right in front of me! I was so disgusted that I just walked out. A few minutes after that, as we drove around the corner I glanced over and that man was STILL yacking on his phone while now leaning over the front counter. Shame on you mister! I only hope that you don't treat other customers as you did me and that you may learn a few basic manners meanwhile. If you are against having respect and manners then have your son work the counter and you stay behind the scenes. At least he knows common courtesy. read more

My husband and I moved here recently, and we were missing having Vietnamese restaurants nearby...thankfully this place opened so we can enjoy pho soup this rainy Oregon winter! And the Vietnamese sandwiches were delicious as well. We were easily able to get everything to go. read more

Ok so this evening I was craving some Phó, been having a sore throat and it usually helps greatly. I walked in to see they jacked the price up to $9.50 a bowl!! Just what do you think you need to charge so much for?? They need to change the price point, good luck eating here for less than $15 per person if you want a drink. The service is terrible, mediocre English at best, chicken tastes old and dry, not consistent, and always on their cell phones in customer view, hello health hazard!! And to boot the Phó is really not very good it's just the only place in Seaside to get it. With that being said I have had phò all over Portland that is impeccable, served the same every time and for the tune of $5-$7. Really disappointed. To all the other people on here who say it's good, get a pallet. Try Phó Tan Tan it's the best above all! read more

If I want pho at the Coast I go here. It's the only place you can find Vietnamese food on the Oregon Coast. Its located in a random spot. A food court style setting with 3 other restaurants. It's run by the owner. He's either cooking your food or taking your order - so be patient. The salad rolls and lychee bubble tea was also good. We enjoyed those while waiting on our pho. read more

So here's the thing, last year this place was my favorite restaurant hands-down. It was the only place to get pho within 50+ miles, and even with the 30 minute drive and the usually 20 minute wait it was well worth it. However, my last three visits over the last few months have been really disappointing. It's still the only place to get a bowl of pho in 50+ miles, and it still takes an average of 15-20 minutes to receive my order after I've paid. But the soup has changed... What used to be a delicious medley of raw beef (cooking gently in the hot broth), rice noodles, and generous portion of onions, fresh basil, cilantro, and bean sprouts, has become a sad, weaker version of its former self. The cilantro, basil, and bean sprouts are no longer served to the side of the dish, and the beef is now served in a tough gray clump on the top of the noodles. The portions of herbs and bean sprouts have been reduced by more than half, and the sweet onion slices no longer exist. Considering it still takes 15-20 minutes after ordering I no longer think this pho is really worth the trip... My theory is that ownership has changed, or at least that the owners are no longer working in their restaurant, and that the help are simply not trained to the level of craftsmanship I have experienced here in the past.. For example, the other weekend I watched one poor boy struggle in making three bubble teas for about 15 minutes before having to stop and start over for the THIRD ime. I never even received as much as a glance from him so I never placed my order. Saigon Deli, please re-train your help!! read more
