The restaurant has an older, cozy atmosphere, and the service was excellent: quick, friendly, and efficient. Pandan had better texture, flaky and pairs really well with the coconut cream. Banana was somehow not as flaky and has more of a subtle taste but still paired well with the coconut cream. From my IG feeds and as a starting point, I got their bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich), which comes with all the works of a regular banh mi sandwich, though I was kinda surprised how brightly orange the grilled pork was. Regardless, it was tasty and the meat was juicy. The pork pate added a nice savory touch to the sandwich, and no other condiment was in excess that it took away taste from the flavorful grilled pork. Staff was very kind throughout, and refilled my water every now and then. It was also nice chatting with one of them about our day and other recommendations from the menu. There's so much to have on their menu so I need to make the drive here again to have more of their stuff!

Service the last three times I went was good--friendly and efficient. They also have an excellent happy hour if you drink and like wings and such. If I lived closer, I'd probably go there all the time, but I don't, so I go whenever I'm in the Capitol Hill/First Hill area around lunch or dinner time. The only thing I don't like is they charge for takeout boxes. I think last time I ordered a pretty big order for myself and friends, I was charged 3%. Not cool. Food: 8.5/10 Saigon Deli offers some seriously tasty eats. The Pandan Butter Mochi was a standout--soft, chewy, and just the right amount of sweet with that delicious pandan flavor. The Banh Mi is a steal at $5-6, though it's on the simpler side. I tried the Grilled Pork Banh Mi; while it wasn't packed full and far from the best I've had, the low price definitely makes up for it. The Rice Crepe with Meat was also really good, especially since I got it fresh out of the kitchen, still warm and super satisfying. After doing some research on where to get good and cheap vietnamese sandy's- I landed here at the Saigon Deli. First off, it's SUPER CHEAP! $2.75 for a Grilled Pork sandich!!!?? That's crazy talk. The meat was delicious, the vegetables were just right and the baguette was fresh and had a perfect crustiness. We ended up ordering 2 Grilled pork sandwiches, 4 rolls, a small cup of fried fish (the little ones) and a fried banana for a grand total of $9.50!!! That's deals! I saw a platter of something that was deep fried and the shape of an apple fritter- to my delight it was fried banana! So, I had to have one. However, by the time I got home and was ready to take a bite, it was really greasy and cold. I didn't even attempt to eat it. This is the only reason I did not rate it 5 stars. I am a bit of a banh mi connoisseur and this place is just amazing as far as their sandwiches are concerned. I have tried banh mi from over 3 dozen places in Southern California, Northern California, and Phoenix. I've also had home made banh mi from a few different sources. When my girlfriends aunt came by with a bag full of banh mi from Saigon Deli I was expecting something just average, after all the other Vietnamese food I've experience up here hasn't all been spectacular. This place was just ridiculous! I have never had a better banh mi, in fact Saigon Deli is the only place I've eaten at twice since I've lived in the Seattle area. If you are looking for authentic Vietnamese southern style cooking then I absolutely recommend going here. The grilled pork is amazing and the spring rolls are so amazingly fresh. I have been to Vietnamese places all over the country and it is absolutely difficult to find real authenticity. After the places that I have gone to in Seattle and the surrounding areas i lost hope in finding a real good place. Until i stumbled on to this place by a referral and I am glad that the referral was made because this place is great and i definitely would recommend it to anyone who wants to eat good asian food. read more

WOW! My friend brought me here the other day since I mentioned I had never had a bahn mi before... I think my life has changed! I've been back twice now, going quite out of my way to get there, too! Cheap, delicious food is so worth the trek. Order the tofu sandwich, just $2.25! Only complaint is that it gets busy during lunch time, and there is no proper line to take orders/pay. It's a bit chaotic and took over 5 minutes of standing at the counter before an employee acknowledged me. Then another 10 minutes for them to assemble the sandwich. The old man working here is a child molester and a women abuser. If you come here then you support his movement. This place is not worth your time or money. The food here is mid at best. In the heart of Little Saigon (the Vietnamese section of International District), this place became my all-time favorite spot to purchase banh mis. Not only you can get a banh mi for less than $5, but they also have a variety of deli items, including spring rolls. During one of my visits, I got a full meal and a few other items for a total of $11. The food is OK and cheap. Agree with the other guys/gal about the gloves etiquette. You think they take gloves off before & after using rest room? I wish the food safety officer can tell them that using clear salad plastic container for hot food is not a good idea. The more you eat at this place the closer your get to cancer of some kind. Best banh mi in Seattle! I always go here to get my Vietnamese sandwiches and when I do go somewhere else, I come right back here because they're the best compared to anywhere else. They also sell chè and to-go lunch trays like spring rolls and nem nuong. I usually order #1 thit nguoi which is basically three ham (I believe is $3.50 each) 4 stars because the parking location is horrifying and tiny. The best time to come is around morning-afternoon. This place is good for fast food deli, but buyer beware when you buy your meal make sure you know the price. They have cash register, but they don't use it for calculation. They add the price buy mouth, you don't get receipt. If you pay under $15 dollar, they charge your credit card transaciton fee. The sandwitch is good. I think they add a lot of msg in the ingredient. Alot of wontons with shrimp and pork inside of them. Let me tell you it was an absolute treat. The spring roll were yummy. I think I got one free. I've got these little cookies that were crunchy I loved. The shrimp those were something to write home about. I think I paid nine dollars for that container and it was absolutely fantastic.
