Great brunch spot! I've done lunches and dinners here too. The cocktails are spectacular. The food is very good, wonderfully seasoned and has punch in its flavors. Amazing food and ambiance! Walked in on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate my sister's birthday. We walked in and had no reservation. We got seated 20 min later. While waiting we went to the patio area and ordered some drinks. The view is pretty nice up there and they have their own bar. As for the food, everything was so delicious. The menu is pretty straightforward. We ordered the lobster and crab cakes, yum! My sister ordered the mushroom rib melt, delicious! I ordered the trip tip. They got all of our orders correctly and my meat came out medium rare as ordered. The alcohol beverages were amazing. My sister got the hibiscus while I opted for the class Moscow mule. Came on a Saturday for brunch at 11am and waited for about 1 hour and half, got seated outside. We ordered the tres leches French toast, BBLT, truffle fries and mint chocolate ice cream sandwich. For drinks we ordered the mimosa and beer. The French toast : 5/5 recommend! It does get a little too sweet when you eat the second toast. BBLT: 5/5 recommend! The flavor profile is phenomenal. Portion is on the small side. Fries: 5/5 recommend! It goes so well with the french toast! The bill was about $30 per person Since we waited more than 15 mins for our food, the manager was kind enough to offer dessert on house- we picked the mint chocolate ice cream sandwich and it was perfect! Best to make reservations ahead of time, as we did a few days before and were only left with really early choices (5pm). Not that big of a deal for us. We were seated upstairs and I really liked the decor and atmosphere. Very chill. Charcuterie board with 3 items was a bit scant, as our server did describe accurately, and he did hook us up with extra bread. The duck meatballs were yummy but i couldn't discern any duck flavor, and the texture was more bready than meaty. Loved the gnocchi with oxtail. Very decadent from all the butter. I also enjoyed their cocktails. Maybe this place is meant to be more classy and upscale, and given the location, the prices were $$$. Service was top notch. There were 5 of us for a pre theater dinner. Two had a dark IPA and one a Mai Thai all which were very good. The service was excellent and there was no wait with a reservation. There is a bar on the ground floor and another upstairs. Everyone selected something different, starting with appetizers of Spicy Calamari and tuna balls. For dinner I had an Asian chicken salad which was delicious. One in our party had striped bass, another Caesar salad, another a large burger with everything on it and fries, and the last had fish and chips which appeared to be a half of a large fish. Each one commented on how delicious their food was. Dinner was topped off with a layered mousse which was enjoyed by several of our party. My partner and I went to the restaurant tonight with three friends from out of town. I have to be honest, I used to go to Saint &Second a lot, but I felt that the food had really fallen in quality, and I refused to go after a while. Anyway, my other half had been a couple weeks ago and he thought the food turned a corner and improved. We decided to try it, but tonight was a great disappointment. We started with the duck meatballs, and the goat cheese and truffle flatbread. The flatbread was delicious, but the duck meatballs were heavy, oversalted and served in a sauce that had too much cornstarch and not enough flavor. His burger, which he ordered, medium rare, was served burnt. The fries were soggy and cold. I had the quinoa salad, which was nothing short of terrible. The beans had no flavor, and the quinoa was bitter and overcooked. The ambience of the restaurant remains lovely, and I think the upstairs patio is one of the nicest in Long Beach, but I won't go back, even though I live two blocks away. read more

Restaurant decor was appealing, I'd describe it as rustic modern-ish. Lighting gives it a nice romantic feel. Our server Gloria was amazing. She was knowledgeable, patient, attentive, and knew the the menu inside out. If you happen to come on a Tuesday, make sure to ask for her, you won't be disappointed! Food was delicious and quality as described by server. For starters, the house tequila is Herradura! For you tequila drinkers out there, you know Herradura is actually pretty good so to have it as a house tequila was very impressive! We started off with the potato and broccolini soup at the suggestion of our server and it was delicious, just as she described! The S & S burger was delicious. Your palette will thank you because of the flavor combinations and different textures. The wild mushroom and sausage flatbread was also a hit! Dessert black and blue hand pie- was fresh, fruity and tarty not overly sweet. Totally worth the calories. If there's one area of improvement, I would say is dusting off the light fixtures at the tables, but definitely not a big deal on our end! And one last point on our server, while we're writing this, someone behind us is complaining about the potato and broccolini soup. I guess when you're accustomed to Progresso or Campbells soup, it's probably hard to appreciate such flavors and quality. I suggest reservations or just go hang out upstairs, people watch along the rail and pounce on a spot when it opens up. Vegetarian review. Truffle fries- have blue cheese sauce drizzled on top, which is really, really mild in terms of blue cheese flavor and more like a cream sauce. There are some blue cheese crumbles on top. Very good. Veggie burger- also very good. The brie- great choice of cheese. Patty is house made, so much better than store-bought. Truffle fries can be subbed in for $2. Brussel sprouts, bacon on the side- also tasty. Parking- on 2nd St.- sometimes difficult depending on the day. Service- wonderful. Only down side- there's not really another vegetarian main course (for those who care). Lots of sides and one flat bread that can be made vegetarian. read more

Our first time coming here was just alright to me. I didn't understand what was so special. A couple of months later we came back without friends and this place was delicious. We had a great server named David. He was very attentive and knew when to bring napkins and water. We never had to ask for anything. He even put the cloth napkins down for our laps. It was so nice We weren't too sure why to order so he gave us a lot of suggestions. We picked the oxtail risotto and pork chop. It was so delicious. With so many wine bottles on the wall, I couldn't help but order a glass of wine. There were so many options I got a little overwhelmed, but decided to go with a Chardonnay since I was ordering the scallops for my main dish. The boyfriend ordered their version of the margarita and it was super refreshing. We ordered the brussel sprouts to share, scallops for me and a lamb dish for him. The brussel sprouts were good, but I feel it could've been roasted a tad longer. The scallops were fantastic as they weren't overcooked and didn't have a chewy/rubbery texture. Finally got the opportunity to try this spot. We sat outside on the second floor where I had always wanted to. It's first come first serve. We got there at lunchtime, but the menu wasn't as I expected. Online I saw they had several things that weren't on the menu when we went. Maybe they change out their menus? My friend got the chilaquiles and I got the biscuits and gravy. We both enjoyed our food. I would say the only downside was the lack of variety in the menu. There weren't too many options that were appealing which I think is why we opted for breakfast. Overall though, it was good and will probably be back to try it again or have a drink at the bar. The food was really good. Quality for oysters were delish! The bone marrow was priced so well and the portions were ridiculously generous.
