We weren't asking for any handouts, we showed-up even as a inconvenience to our schedule, and wanted only decent food and service. Ultimately we were disrespected and literally run-out of the restaurant after my wife received a water she ordered and the head bar woman delivered an extra water (unordered) to my apparel that happened to be a 1500.00 silk/wool suit. I was soooo lucky I wasn't wearing one of my more expensive HUGO-BOSS $2500.00 suits!
I wish I could actually give them a zero star rating!!! The worst service I have ever seen, I used to run a franchised sit-down restaurant in the mid-west for 14 years and we never spilled a drink on anyone (on my watch) but did on rare occasion, have to refused service to the most disrepective souls.
My store even was the only store that didn't get a window busted out during the riots in the late 90's (Walnut Hills). We greeted you at the door with a smile, set your table after you were seated (with crackers), made sure you had/understood the menu, even suited and tied you with a bib if needed, and then respectively took your order.
I myself was only going to "Admiral English Pub" located at the same location of Travinos in Bristol RI, because we were in the neighborhood and a high-school friend of my wife was working there. We are from Ohio and had limited time but were potential paying customers, none-the-less. I love fresh fish!!! This was an opportunity to take advantage of one of the small jems that might-could-have been on our annual stops. But NOO!
DO NOT show up with a smile on your face, do not ask where the restrooms are only to be pointed to go out the door and across the hall, do not have a drink before you show-up, but do be ready to be treated to an entertaining episode of having your joy stolen from you.
We arrived from a wedding that had a cash bar a couple doors up that had one bottle of red and white wine on each table for 8 people to share. That is one glass of wine and one glass of champagne per guest. That equals one glass of wine and one glass for the toast at a wedding reception that started at 5pm and ended at 10pm. Most of the people at this event left being able to legally drive and that include us, but with a well proportioned dinner for our intake.
I am a smoker and was lagging behind my better-half because so. Another bit of sound advice while in NEW-ENGLAND, don't ever order a Miller High-Life. That doesn't exist as we know it...
This establishment didn't ever seat us but we did have a seat at the bar that we sat at briefly, until the bar BizWitch swooped in and told my wife that they were not serving us due to their self proclaimed (weird) perception of moral consciences. This happened after we had placed an initial order for two drinks. My wife was frustrated and I calmed her, she asked for a water and the head of bar service seemed to change her tune. The most CRAZY part is I didn't ask for a water and as she arrived at the bar with two ice waters I was doused with an ice cold glass of water in my wool/silk suite. WOW!!! I wanted to eat and drink , not necessarily alcohol. We didn't expect to be wearing any of it either.
My wife even pleaded with the fake-looking chief that claimed to be the owner. Heads-up, this is not the way anyone likes to be treated. Hands-down has beat any bad situations like being seated next to the bathroom on your anniversary or messing up the dish with chicken when shrimp was ordered as the dish! I usually can figuratively let it roll off my sleeve. The absurdity of the situation, lit my fuse and would have anyone that was preparing to enjoy themselves at an expense. These folk are sadly mistaken if they think stealing someones joy, especially if they think that there is a fruitful future for themselves in service.
Being denied without ever having/seeing a menu in front of you is not only disrespectful, but down right prejudice. If no one is slurring/fall-down drunk why would the crazy, head of service, bring an extra water that wasn't even ordered to just dump in on someone with an expensive suit on.
There is no reason for crazy BizWitches, but I can think of every excuse...I even paused and looked at her for more than 4 seconds after it happened. She had no remorse in her eyes and only tried to offer her non-genuine apologies after I was on my feet stepping backwards more than 6 seconds later. I was livid to say the least and think that all should know what kind of low-life that actually give service a bad name. There was no one at the bar and two tables in the whole place that did have menus provided for them. This happened at 10:20pm on a Saturday night? Crazy-Insane!!! I am kind of glad we did not hang-out long enough to support/enable this establishment with even a penny. Seemed to be a big hassle and waste of time. Skip this place, it isn't worth it. read more
