I came for lunch on a Tuesday. First impression was not impressive. The place is run down with no flare and seemed a tad dirty. I was poorly greeted by the owner or manager who talked across the restaurant with the other workers pretty much the whole time. I started with a side salad, literally lettuce and yum yum sauce. Next was the summer roll. I was hoping it would be as good as what other reviewers said but unfortunately it was pathetic. Cucumber, imitation crab, lettuce in soy paper with duck sauce for $6...!!!! Ordered the Tomo roll and fire roll. They both were very small for the price, rice was flavorless and a tad under cooked. Tomo roll had the smallest, thinnest pieces of fish I've ever seen on sushi and definitely was not spicy yellowtail. A sushi/hibachi restaurant without ginger dressing and peanut sauce...the McDonald's of both. I most likely will not be dinning here again. Seems like someone has lost the flare for cooking and is just ripping people off. read more

wow they're awful! let's start with customer service they have none. one guy is sitting on a chair texting and can't bother to look up. finally we get seated. When we sit the guy says what you want to drink in a rude form and then they take our order. We didn't get our sushi roll we ordered. next refills what are those? you want one get up and ask for it yourself. maybe a to go box lol go get one yourself even the bill. 93$ before type was a waste. take your money somewhere else. read more

We have been to Sushi places all over the country and we love this place. Come here when we visit the parents. The price is so affordable and the quality is so good. The rolls , the sushi was delicious. I posted pics of everything we tried and definitely recommend for people to give this place a try. They also do Hibachi but we didn't try that, maybe next time. Went with somewhat high expectations as family members said they were good. Staff were sweet and helpful. The food was extremely salty. If they added some minced garlic to the everything they cook on the hibachi, they wouldn't need to oversalt the food and there would be more flavor. We have been here multiple times and watched food sitting and waiting for pick up from the sushi bar due to 1 person being solely responsible or designated for this duty. The gentlemen at the cash register seems to only check people out and process " to go" orders. While another person only seems to get drinks and seat people. Of all of my Hibachi experiences, this was by far one of the best places I have been to. For starters, the teppanyaki chef was great with our kids and put on a good show. Now for the meat and potatoes... the portions were perfect, we weren't overwhelmed with rice or veggies. 10/10 stars from this guy and his family! read more

LOVE SAKURA! It's our new local sushi bar & teppanyaki grill. It's totally legit too with traditional Japanese sushi, sashimi & teppanyaki that rivals any big city joint. It's a pretty big place with a small sushi bar, "Full BAR" area with booths, tons of booths in the main area, several teppanyaki grills & a private room in back. They have a pretty big staff to match & they are all super cool! Some of the staff relocated from my hometown of NYC, a couple guys from LA & a few from China. Its so close to my home I can even ride my motorcycle there. So I go often & have had pretty much everything on the menu LOL YESSSSSSS! Everything is yummi yum yummmmzzzz scrumptious indeed! What's even better is the staff & service. There is one server that is from China, barely speaks English & she wears these giant "rocket scientists glasses" that just won't stay up on her tiny tiny face. She is so adorable, it should be a crime to be that cute. She just makes me smile from ear to ear when she is around. They are all so much fun I can't stay away from this place. I have asked them to customize most of my dishes & they never have a problem doing it. Not only do they not mind doing it, they do it with style & pizzazz! The sushi guy is impressive! I LOVE HIM. He can just whip up anything. You name it he will do it like a Samurai. He is my sushi Samurai :) His wife is also my favorite server she is my Chatty Cathy & loves it when I bring my hubby. She spoils him bringing him big giant sapporo's. Soon as she sees him she is running around saying "I got big Sapporo for you" she know what he likes lol The miso soup is so good it's addictive. No matter what I order I have to have one & I have never been a miso soup fan. The little salads that come with the lunch specials have a very good dressing. I don't know what it is but I could drink it. The sushi & sashimi is always spot on bc they make the best sushi rice. It's always super fresh, slightly warm, creamy, but firm & always sticks together. My rolls never fall apart. Excellent. They have tons of vegan options too, which is something we were lacking around these parts. I usually make my vegan at home but now I can get it here. Thank you Jesus! The vegetable pad Thai is very good & you can get it with tofu. O.M.G. The Japanese Aged tofu is so good my carnivore hubby is even addicted to it! *shocked face* They also make BOMB vegetable tempura that has, zucchini, sweet potato, broccoli, mushroom & has TARO ROOT in it. My fave. One day I ask if I could have a special roll made with the tempura taro root & avocado instead of a tempura shrimp & avocado. She says she will ask the sushi chef, who is her hubby, he tells us no problem & makes it for me. Of course it's now my new fave roll. Every time I come in, they make it for me. I would not recommend eating here. The shrimp hibachi came in a sweet sauce? Never had that before. Usually hibachi is seasoned but never comes with a thick sauce. The rice has no flavor, neither does the soup. The side salad sauce taste good however the lettuce taste like dirt. The fire sushi was so gross! This Sushi place was not the best. Waited a long time to get served; waiter's did not understand English. Even asked me what to put into a Hand-roll Eel. Asked for Noriki Sake & they gave me regular sake. I even started choking (too much washabi) asked 2 waiters for water before I got it. We ordered one roll a piece & they didn't ask me if we wanted anything else, while sitting at the Sushi bar, just gave me the check. We eat a lot of sushi, but didn't get the opportunity. Besides the service being horrible, the sushi was actually pretty good. I will have reservations about eating there again. read more

Very poor service, unfortunately so bad and we were delayed so long we had to leave without eating. The restaurant is split into half with hibachi on one side and a restaurant on the other. We waited for 45 minutes on the restaurant side and only at the end got our drink orders taken, not even close to food. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. We eventually went next door to Rib Crib. Apparently this bad service is well known to locals--just wish I'd known before. read more

As I sit here in the restaurant I can hear the staff members arguing and cursing about reviews and who was serving who and who should be doing what. Our waiter "Brave" was pleasant and nice but lacked some of the skills required to be a quality waiter. I think it will come in time but I can tell you from being in the food industry myself for many years, what this place needs is a good leader. The one who seemed to be in charge was NOT setting a good example himself. He was yelling across the restaurant and barking out orders and reprimands in the dining area. That's a big no no. It sure takes away from the dining experience. The best food in the world won't make up for a bad experience. Some professional training would go a long way. The place needs a good cleaning, don't brag about your damn tips in the dining area, and the employees (same guy I think was in charge) shouldn't be smoking outside the front door. On another note, the food was excellent. There wasn't too long of a wait time for our food which was a positive based on the reviews I read before arriving. Overall I think my review is fair and spot on. I hope you have a better experience than we did. read more

Went here after a friends suggestion and we have mix reviews. Nice location and easy to find with adequate parking. We were seated promptly and choose to seat in booth. Our waiter came and took our drink orders but did take some time to come back to get our lunch order. Wife had the hibachi chicken and I had the steak hibachi. Chicken was tender but needed salt, seems the chicken was cooked then just glazed with sauce. Same with the steak, needed a lot of salt, had no flavor to it and the sauce didn't help. The teriyaki had great steamed veggies and grilled shrimp and they were kind enough to put the sauce on the side like I had requested. Came here for lunch. I had a lunch box that comes with Salad and miso soup. Miso soup is almost a hot water and no flavor and salad was not fresh. But overall, it's good place to eat if they don't describe themselves as a Japanese restaurant. To me, everything is very Chinese, but food is not that bad if you are ok with it. Moved to Ardmore from Fort Worth and I am so sad that there's not even a half decent sushi place the tables and all menus were so sticky I didn't even want to look at all of their menu options . My husband had a lunch bento box and said his food was pretty good, I had the pick three sushi rolls lunch option and It was overall pretty nasty. The fake crab meat tasted stale and dry and the salmon and tuna (raw) had a strong metallic taste. It was very unexpected to find a true hibachi place in a small town like Ardmore. As good as expected, it wasn't top shelf entertainment but the food was delicious, very good. We had filet migion which was perfect, scallops--real and close to perfect and shrimp, unremarkable but fine. Generous egg fried rice but a bit stingy in the veggies although truly did not need the extra food. Don't bother with ice tea, certainly not worth the $2.59. Overall a lovely dining experience with very reasonable prices for city folk. Very attentive friendly staff. read more
