Strip Steak, Shrimp & Chicken (lunch portion - $25)
    Melanie J.

I was thoroughly surprised with this location! I enjoyed my combination of steak, shrimp, and chicken with the fried rice and mushrooms. The chef was funny and quick and efficient with our food! The portion for lunch I thought was really good for the price and even two of our colleagues order veggie and tofu and it was abundant! The place itself is huge and have a lot of hibachi tables and open seating. I will say the only thing I wish was that we got more refills on the drinks we ordered. But the food compared to other hibachi places I've been too was clean and not too oily! Loved the onion and tricks the chef did.

The experience was fun and nice. But the shrimp was poor quality and also the lady took my order wrong so I was the only person without fried rice for my appetizer. That was disappointing. On top of that she was the one who made a mistake and probably realized it so she came back and asked me if I was the one who wanted steamed rice to make it seem like I ordered that which I didn't. Mind you we were already half way into our meal. Then I said no I wanted the fried rice which is what i initially ordered so she told me it will cost extra. Then I said whatever I am already halfway through my meal and my boyfriend shared with me his portion. Like Jesus lady you made a mistake and tried to put it on me that I want steamed rice. Also the chef totally forgot my boyfriend's families allergies and proceeded to cook everything together. But thankfully someone reminded him that they had a shrimp allergy. Jesus! Hopefully they get their orders right for someone else.

Was fun meal because the chef made it fun. My steak was overcooked, though supposed to be medium rare but was well. Very dry. Didn't eat it. The apps and sides were good, and I was full when I left.

Fun place to go for celebrations. Loved the way that the chef interacted with us, he was pretty fun. It definitely is a popular place since there are a lot of people there, but fortunately we got a seat together. The food is good, nice proportions for the pricing. I've came here before in december and it was nice to celebrate graduation here in may :)

It's been years since I've gone to a hibachi restaurant and I don't know why it's been so long! I can't believe I'm writing this about a hibachi restaurant. We were hit with a dinner lull and wanted something a little exciting. Having a kid, we wanted something fun and entertaining, and wow, this place hit all the marks. Our kid especially enjoyed the experience and gobbled up the soup, fried rice and even some of the meat! Portions were huge, chicken was super tender, shrimp was cooked perfectly, and steak was surprising not bad. I loved the fried rice and veggies and I mean, who can go wrong with the yum yum sauce? I thought the price was a little overpriced but for dinner and a show, I can't wait for the next time to go back. Service was prompt, and very attentive. It was packed for a Wednesday night and will def make reservations next time. Don't know about the sushi bar, but can't wait to go back.

I've been to Sakura before, but sat on the sushi side of the restaurant. This time, I went with a group of friends for hibachi. The chef put on a good show with flames and throwing food to catch in your mouth. I ordered the mushrooms appetizer, and shrimp & filet minon combo. I loved the filet minon so much. It was tender and juicy! I highly recommend it. My husband's appetizer was chicken livers. I honestly wish I got that, but the mushrooms I got were good too. Aside from the chef we also had a server getting us our drinks and high chairs, as needed. All in all, it was really good time. I'll definitely be back.

I never thought I would frequent a hibachi place for their sushi but it's just such high tier sushi that I always make a left at the hostess stand to get to the sushi bar (instead of right towards hibachi). The cuts of fish are thick, the sauce on the spicy rolls have the best ratio of fish/Mayo/spicy, and the seared salmon melts in my mouth. When I come here, I don't crave the fancy rolls with a bunch of ingredients because I know their regular rolls already pack a bunch of flavor. The sushi price at Sakura being cheaper than the surrounding area helps me justify eating out here so often. A meal for me to be full costs ~$22 (for 2 rolls and 2 pieces of seared fish).

Celebrated our daughter's birthday here and it was so much fun. The food was delicious as always and our chef was wonderful. He was very interactive and kind. Salmon, Steak and shrimp all cooked perfectly. Portions are well worth the money.

Recently, Eater DC published a list of what they considered the best steakhouses in the DMV…read more Randy's made the list. We were looking for a place to have our anniversary dinner. After seeing the list, we chose Randy's. Randy's is a Great American Restaurant, and I must say it's so good to go to a GAR with a menu different from the others. In the past, I've written about how one can go to Coastal Flats and get pretty much the same menu as, for example, Jackson's. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We arrived about a half hour early, so we asked if they could seat us right then and there. The people at the host stand said "yes". We were seated at a 4-top booth. Thus, there was plenty of room. The booths, which have mohair seat coverings, were a shade of green and quite attractive. The environment clearly says "upscale steakhouse." Our server was prompt in getting to us and asked if we wanted some water. We chose tap water. He gave us time to look over the menu. We decided to not have any appetizers as we didn't want to get too full. To drink, my husband got a glass of Catena Malbec while I got an Espresso Martini. Our server asked if we wanted some bread. We said "yes". The bread basket had 2 flaky, buttery croissants, plus a slice of white bread and a slice with raisins. For our main course, we both got the 7 oz. filet mignon cooked medium rare. We chose to try two sides. One side was "roasted asparagus" which consists of: "poached egg, parmesan (we asked for no cheese and our request was honored), truffled Bernaise aioli". The second side was "Honey roasted organic rainbow carrots," which were "dusted with candied walnuts". As for the food --- We both thought our steaks were properly cooked, However, my husband said his was on the dry side while mine was just right. We both really enjoyed the side dishes. The asparagus was unconventional, to be sure. Never did I have a poached egg with asparagus. I ate the egg, and it was properly cooked. Looking back, I should have thought to put some salt on it as there was none. The truffled sauce was creamy and added nice flavor. The carrots, to me anyway, were a pleasant surprise. The honey added a nice flavor along with the candied walnuts. They, too, were cooked perfectly. As for being "rainbow" carrots, most were orange, with some white and yellow ones. We had some room for dessert, so we decided to share "Tressa's crispy meringue filled with lemon curd and finished with passionfruit coulis". Since it was our anniversary dinner, a dollop of whipped cream was added to the plate. In that dollop was a lit candle, which was a nice touch. I found the coulis to be on the tart side. The lemon curd was mildly flavored. Service was excellent, though dessert took a while ,to arrive. All in all, a nice splurge and we're glad we came here. (Well...we didn't care for the traffic on Leesburg Pike, but the dinner made it worth the trip).

I did not find out until after we left the restaurant that both my daughter and my friend felt like their steaks were bit overcooked, but to the restaurants defense, neither one of them told our waiter what temperature they would like to have it cook to and so I, and they, agreed that they both had enough experience eating in steakhouses to know to ask a steak to be cooked to whatever temperature they preferred. So this is not on anybody except them. I would ask the restaurant in the future to instruct their wait staff to ask anyone ordering steak, regardless of size, what they're preferred temperature is. That being said they said that the flavor of their steak was still excellent! It was my first time here and will certainly not be the last! I am a very, very picky eater and this is one of the best meals that I've enjoyed top to bottom in a long time!

We chose Draper's Steak & Seafood to celebrate our anniversary and made a reservation in advance…read more Upon arrival, we checked in at the hostess stand, but no one asked if we were celebrating a special occasion or acknowledged our anniversary. During dinner, the restaurant was noticeably warm inside, which made the dining experience less comfortable than expected. To drink, I ordered the French 75, made with gin, triple sec, lemon juice, honey syrup, and champagne. It was refreshing and was one of the highlights of the meal. For my entrée, I chose the Roasted Herb Chicken, a daily limited-supply special featuring half a roasted chicken finished with brown butter sauce and served with fingerling potatoes and fried brussels sprouts. The vegetable portion was generous, but overall the dish was just okay and didn't stand out. My husband ordered the 14 oz NY Strip with demi-glace, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. The steak was cooked properly but could have used more seasoning. The mashed potatoes, however, were excellent and easily the best part of his meal. While the food was decent overall, we were disappointed that the restaurant didn't acknowledge our anniversary in any way. There was no special greeting, complimentary dessert, or gesture to help make the occasion feel memorable. Draper's delivered a satisfactory meal, but for a special celebration, we expected a more polished and attentive experience.
