Waited 30 mins to sit down and the food was worth it! Awesome hibachi

Sakura Japanese steak and seafood house is a longtime neighborhood favorite for families. Great environment if you're on a date and want to "impress" a new friend. I've been to excellent similar genre of restaurant and am not all in on this one because the food portions really are not what you're paying for or expecting. The cooks will entertain; I guess that's part of the allure. Frankly-, if I order chicken and shrimp, just give me your chicken breast portion and the same on the shrimp without cutting it up into enough pieces for 8 people. The rice serving is good, grilled vegetables are also good. Cocktails are so good here and nonalcohol drinks are also available. read more

I give this place 4 stars because of their Sake Sampler! It's SOOOOOO good! It's refreshing to find a Japanese Steak House that has a good Sake selection! If you find yourself here....make sure you get the sampler! It's totally worth it! read more

Food is really great, I just don't like the fact that you have to share a table with complete strangers. You really can't even have a conversation with the people you're with because the way the seating is arranged is just awkward. The wait to be seated is really long. Everything else is good, the food, the cook is usually nice and friendly. I've been once, and I would visit again, just next time I know to go with 10 people so that we don't have to share a table with strangers. read more

First time to try Hibanchi and I am very satisfied with my experience here. The food is not special, but the whole experience of enjoying the Hibachi is worth coming here every now and then. Friday night. Hibachi side only. Would be better with own bigger crowd since it seats 10 people on one table. Exciting and entertaining at first. Service is alright , kimono wearing servers looked cute. To my observation same sauce/seasoning added to cook for everything ( red meats, chiken, shrimp, scallops and veggies ) doesn t taste any different and special. Usually im impressed with the food and the cook when i go to any Sakura Restaurant but i was was very disappointed this time. As much as your bill is for a family of 4 you would think they would have the best cooks. To start off the cook kept dropping his utensils. Second, the shrimp, scallops and lobster were over cooked and burnt. Seafood is the most expensive on the menu so you would think they would do a great job cooking. He didnt squeeze any lemon on any of the seafood like everyone else does. He cooked the fried rice, rwd meats and chicken last which didnt make any sense since it takes the longest to cook. The fried rice was awful because he put a whole bunch of yum yum sauce in it when it was cooking and hardly of any of the other sauce. It didn't taste like fried rice at all. I will say i was very disappointed and wont be returning any time soon. read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant in town. The highlight of it is when they make the food in front of you and they do so many cool tricks! Like when he flips his tools, or makes fire to cook it. I've been there a lot of times so I've seen it all there's a lot more tricks than what I just told you. The food there is so good! i stumbled upon here after shopping at Target and craved sushi. i excepted better because friends of mine said that this place was really good. it was okay. first, they didn't have the roll that i always order from sushi restaurants so the i briefly explained to the sushi chef what was in it and he tried to attempt it but failed. i also tried the teppanyaki which was okay. it's not the best place but its okay. i LOVE sushi, so whenever i eat it, i better get what i want and be satisfied. this place just didn't do it. if you're a neutral sushi lover, you may enjoy this place. read more

I think Sakura is pretty good. They do not provide as much with their hibachi as Otani so I tend to go there more often. They don't include the noodles, and when we split a meal (because it is so much food!), they don;t give each of us a soup and salad like Otani. Their sushi is good, and the price is about the same so I will almost always go a couple miles down the street to otani. read more

Love, love, love this place! We go here almost every Friday night for sushi, it's simply the best. We are huge sushi lovers, and of maybe the 7-8 different places we've visited in the area this tops the list. Eugene the waitress is SO sweet and friendly. She remembers our drink orders and the special sauces we both get on the side everytime we're there. Service is fast, and the food is consistently delicious. We've been regular patrons for more than two years now. We've had the hibachi once, it was delicious! We had chicken, steak and shrimp. We just prefer the sushi since it's a "lighter" option; the hibachi is so much food, but never a bad thing when it's delicious! Love this place, can't wait for Friday to go back! read more

Would give them a 3.5. Food was decent. Chicken was a little under seasoned and a little dry. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare the way I like it. As for everything else it was decent. Nothing mind blowing as far as taste. The veggies could of been cooked a little longer and the wait staff was a little slow in getting the steamed rice out. When we first looked at the wine list we thought It was a little expensive for a glass. $8-$9 per. But the glasses were huge and were at least 2 full glasses in one. read more

Great service, amazing food (best scallops I've ever had), and a bright and friendly environment. The atmosphere is a little chaotic which is expected at a hibachi restaurant (or any place that involves throwing knives and flying food) but otherwise inviting. I've been here for a few times for sushi. I've never tried hibachi here but it seems to be very popular. I usually just order from the a la carte menu. My usual is toro, salmon belly, and spicy scallop roll. Sometimes I order the uni if I feel like splurging a bit. Salad and miso soup are extra if you order from the a la carte menu. Salad is always fresh and crunchy. The rice to fish ratio is why I like this place so much. Nice big piece of fish sliced perfectly on top of a small ball of rice. Service is always great. My family and I love this place. We go here all the time when we're in the mood for Japanese and some really good Suishi. Our family friends is friends with the Suishi chef and he makes some of the BEST sushi in the area - by far. Great spot for families and always entertaining. read more

The server was rude and inconsiderate. Whenever we would ask her for refills or questions, she rushed us. She never came by to check up on us, it was always us trying to find time to reach her. When I asked about a birthday dessert, she just rudely dropped it on my side. She never bothered to check up on us or see if we needed anything but she was particular about other guests. The chef was a bit boring, he was kind (unlike the server) but from my previous hibachi experiences he lacked personality which would make for s fun time. The food wasn't good at all. Horrible service. Food was bland. And customers go unappreciated. Never going again and will be telling others about my poor experience. read more

We went here the night it started snowing during one of the insane blizzards this year. It was a friday night and we met a lot of friends, probably about 10, it was enough to fill up a whole table. The food was average hibachi food. Dinner was fine and I would have given this place 3 stars except at the end of the meal instead of turning the vacumny thing on to suck all the smoke out they turned it on backwards i guess..so the vent about the table was open. So we basically got 30 degree air blown on us the whole time we ate. Our food was pretty much cold before we could eat it and we all had to put our coats on during dinner! The waiter came by several times but didnt seem to realize until the end of the meal. Maybe I'll go back in the summer when I dont have the chance to get frozen. read more

Love this place!! No matter what group of people I am with, everyone goes for a birthday dinner! My go-to is filet and scallops. When I feel like spoiling myself, I add shrimp. The yum yum sauce is my favorite!! I always ask for extra! The drink selection is fantastic! I think I've had one of everything and have quite a collection of novelty glasses. I have a select few favorite chefs and my most recent was Kevin. He was a riot and cooked everything perfectly! It can be pricey depending on what you order, but you won't regret it! read more

I've been to Sakura many times, and this is one of the bad experience I've had with them. Came with a group of three people for hibachi. It was a disappointment, the show was nice, but the food was not. The hibachi food has always been great, but with this visit, the food is dry and tasteless. And the sushi were not well done, when I picked up the rolls, the otter part started coming off, but the roll still taste great. Service was okay, a little slow. Though, they were quite fast when we ask for the check! Ha! Classic typical restaurant. Anyways, the price is a bit pricy. I ended up spending $120 for three people there. Not sure if I want to come again for the price that I'm paying when the food it's not great. read more

This is just a short rant. I haven't been to this place yet. I have been looking for it for a while tho. Using a Garmin and online maps I searched and searched on several occasions, all to no avail. Then one evening we were coming out of Applebees at FairLakes and BAM there it was. Goofy. 12950 and 12951 on the same side of the street. No wonder I couldn't find it! read more

We eat here for sushi (although we have eaten here twice last year at the tables which are really fun with friends or family). My review is for the sushi. We aren't hard core sushi folks but know what is fresh and delicious. Since we eat here at least once per month at the sushi bar the sushi chefs know us and are always very attentive. Our favorite item is the avocado salad (I don't share this...I make my hubby get his own). Delicious! I also love their calif rolls topped with masago, tuna and avocado rolls, spider rolls and yellowtail rolls (yup, not very adventurous are we!). Always fresh and always delicious. read more

I couldn't decide between the two, so I got tuna sashimi for an appetizer and filet for hibachi. They were both Fantastic!! I love the hibachi shows, all the staff was very friendly. The sashimi came in what I would consider large pieces. That was a pleasant surprise for me. read more

I feel like this place has gone downhill a bit over the years, so their food can be a little hit or miss depending on the chef. However, when they do it right, it's delicious and fun!
