They have a good selection for table side and they also have the other side where they cook for you (like Tanaka of Tokyo). I had this sushi craving. We were in Mililani, so we didn't want to wait and drive all the way back to Kapolei just to get dinner. So as any logical person would do, I yelped it. Everything tasted delish, and my sushi rolls came out quick. - Customer service was pretty ok too! We could see the Teppanyaki chefs do their thing and it looked like the people enjoyed their entertainment while they watched their meals cook. Things that needed improvement: - My son's sushi rolls were the LAST to come. He waited for 45 minutes for a sushi roll, and I had mine in 10 minutes. That is a LOT of time in between. the noodles, bentos and hot plated dishes all came out before his sushi rolls. Need to get the order process down. Someone should not be waiting close to an hour while the hot dishes are out. - It took a while for us to get refills on water and also to get our server to come back to give us our check. The wait time outweighed the eating time :/ Overall, we did enjoy the food. I love the variety and the servers were really great when they were around. the wait time for food needs improvement. is there more people wanting sushi than hot dishes? We decided to get a few things to share. -Age Tofu (4/5): The batter on the tofu was light and the tempura sauce was good -Fried Calamari (5/5): This was by far one of the best calamaris i've ever had. The calamari wasn't chewy at all and the batter was very light. -Sushi and Sashimi Combo (4/5): The fish didn't seem to be that fresh but was still okay. Took my 11 year old son and his 5 friends (all 11 and under) here to eat for his birthday. We were having a great time as we did Hibachi style and our chef was great. Unfortunately, the table next to us had a chef who decided it was appropriate to play highly sexualized and inappropriate music for his group. While we ate in the restaurant the chef played five straight songs that all included multiple swear words and extremely graphic and sexual content. It turned what had been a great experience into a situation that made me uncomfortable and very upset. I ordered their to Tonkotsu plate and a side of shrimp tempura order. The Tonkotsu plate came with miso soup, salad, and rice. I did a phone order and I was talking to 2 people at once. At first it was a lady then after I had a guy and I had to repeat myself twice. However, if you're going to charge a party of 4 with 2 infants a tip pre-added to the bill, you have to verify they know what's happening. Don't be like us, come earlier than 9! When the waiter explained the menu I remember him mentioning sushi items and hibachi items but I didn't notice until then that it meant you needed to be seated in a different area. I thought it was like a yakiniku type where you cook your own, la di da. No, they had a cute production. Something similar to Kobe or Tanaka of Tokyo. Plus they have a hibachi if you want a fancy show from the chef. This is one of those things "don't judge a book by its cover". Located in a small shopping center next to safeway and CVS I never thought they had good food, let alone, some pretty decent, legit sushi. Where to start? ... When we stepped into the restaurant, no one acknowledged that we were standing there for awhile even though there were a few staff people standing 5-10 feet away. Then the "real" hostess came and took us to our seats without saying a single word to us. Our table has sticky stuff on it. A piece of my napkin tore off because it was stuck to the table. Yuck! I turned in my seat to try get their attention. A couple of them looked over at me, but nothing. They kept talking. Finally my husband got their attention by waving BOTH his arms at them. Terrible service. The food was not very good. They must've thought their salad was on fire because it was swimming in dressing. Their teriyaki chicken was dry. Their yakiudon was really salty. Their Fuji Mountain (something like that) sushi was very mediocre. Sounded much better than it was. Would not order it again. Don't waste your time or money on this place. Sakura is an odd hybrid restaurant, consisting of a hibachi grill section (think: Tanaka of Tokyo) and a traditional booth section (a la Gyotaku), as well as a sushi bar and a normal bar. It's dimly lit and darkly painted, with appropriate oriental stylings adorning the walls and pillars. The entryway is tucked in the back corner and strangely small. "Quirky" is what came to mind when we arrived. We were able to walk in and get seated right away in a booth around 6pm on a Saturday - the exact opposite of Kunio or Gyotaku. Servers were prompt and attentive. You can choose to sit at the hibachi or booths, so make sure you know what you want to order before you get there. Here's what we ordered: - Tokyo Tea ($10.95) - Boozy midori long island, lots of ice but very tasty if you drink it before it waters down. - Age Tofu ($5.95) - Pretty generous serving of battered, fried tofu in dashi. I enjoyed the flavor although the SO thought the sauce was too salty. - Dinner Combo A ($20.50) - Vegetable Tempura and Chicken Katsu. The tempura selection was decent: carrot, onion, eggplant, zucchini, sweet potato. Batter was nice and light. The chicken katsu, however, was pressed chicken that was so salty that I had a hard time finishing it. It was flatter than L&L chicken katsu and less edible, which is saying something. The teishoku included Miso Soup (decent, surprisingly not salty), salad (standard iceberg mix), rice (w/ furikake), and three gyoza (pan fried, tasty filling). The gyoza addition was really nice, but just doesn't make up for the chicken katsu. - Sweet Heart Roll ($15.50) - Y'know how the Big Mac on TV looks way better than the actual thing? Yeah...don't order this one. Extremely thin sliced ahi on the outside, smushed and inconsistent filling, with fat butt pieces that struggle to imitate hearts. I think they gave up and made two of the hearts into a pinwheel. I know you're paying for the craftsmanship on this one, but honestly, it lacked craftsmanship, and is not worth the premium at all. There was one hibachi show behind us that was very loud, we turned around a few times to see a hype-man chef screaming OH YEA and entertaining his table with flames, tricks, shooting water out of a bottle, and more. If you go for hibachi, hope to get this guy, cause he kept the crowd pumped. Also of note - no beers on draft. Bottle only. Overall, a letdown on the food side that just won't cut it when we have so many similar options closer to town. I wanted to like the ambitious setup, but I don't see us returning. read more

First time visiting this restaurant, we were met by the hostess as soon as we entered the door and quickly taken to our seat. The restaurant is separated into two areas, the front area for normal seating and ordering off the menu, while the in back area, one can sit around the teppanyaki grills so that they can view the skills of the teppan chefs while they grill chicken, pork, beef and seafood dishes. We chose to sit in the traditional restaurant setting and ordered off the menu. Hungry for steak, I ordered the teriyaki sizzling plate while my wife ordered the nabeyaki ramen. Both came with a serving of tossed salad. My meal also came with a small bowl of miso soup. Within 5 minutes, our food arrived. The teriyaki, actually a New York steak strip seasoned with teriyaki sauce, was cooked perfectly to medium rare and served on a sizzling platter with a hefty serving of grilled onions. The meat was very tender and tasted so good. The nabeyaki ramen bowl was filled with an assortment of condiments (kamaboku, egg, carrots) and a large serving of chicken. My wife really enjoyed the crispy skin on the chicken. Although this was our first time there, it won't be our last. Next time, we're going to enjoy the teppanyaki experience. read more

There's also substitution options of scallop, filet mignon and lobster for an extra $3 or $6 each. Even going as far as to getting up and looking for someone ourselves. By the time they said they would bring the last persons food everyone else was done eating.
