DRINKS Boba - while I typically omit boba from the milk tea and slush drinks now (avoiding the extra calories), their boba is actually made quite well. It's well cooked, not too hard or extra squishy. Their taro slush is perfect. I tried the Kumquat with lemon as well and it's such a great alternative to plain lemonade on a hot summer day. This comes with lychee and I added popping boba (different from regular boba) which adds another layer of citrus burst in my taste buds. Drinks featured in the photo include: Mango sweet dew, strawberry, Thai tea and jasmine green tea. I was NOT a fan of the Thai tea. It tasted a bit watered down. (I will attempt to order Thai tea at a later date because I cannot let it affect this review of otherwise amazing drinks and food) FOOD: Poke I ordered a poke salad with spicy salmon x2, marinated tuna. Delicious! The poke bowl size is very generous. Price depends on how much protein you get but pretty much unlimited toppings until you get to the avocado and crunchy toppings (max 3). Sauce: teriyaki, spicy mayo and eel sauce. Yum! Ramen (Tonkatsu) This was so good! Presentation threw me off. I later realized that we were given the "to-go" bowl of ramen so everything was not submerged. Makes sense why it looked dry at first. Since we were eating in the restaurant I would have loved to see a real ramen bowl with real chopsticks but these details are insignificant. The ramen broth is so rich in flavor. The tonkatsu pork hit the spot and was well made! The noodles, once soaked in the broth, had a nice smooth texture and absorbed so much good flavor. Pictured but did not try (was told it was good) include Takoyaki (octopus :)) Seating: there's plenty of it! The cushioned seats were much appreciated. The red sauce was spicy and I added a little bit to my bowl. Both sauces enhanced the flavor of the ramen. Next time I plan to order from the hibachi menu. There was no seasoning on it at all, not even salt. The shrimp were okay. They didn't taste very fresh and again had no seasoning. The veggies were so blah. I always look forward to the Hibachi vegetables, but these were a let down. No salt or seasoning at all. The fried rice was boring and quite peppery. Thank god for yum yum sauce and soy sauce because that's what saved this meal. Everything needed to be dunked or drizzled in sauce. Maybe we caught them on an off night and they didn't remember to bring the salt shaker, but this meal was way too expensive to trust they'd make it better next time around. The man who checked up on us and refilled our drinks was the real MVP. Here's what we had: Shrimp tempura roll: 7/10- It was good! I wanted to add cream cheese but they charge $1 to add cream cheese! That's so pricey! for a smidge of cream cheese! Now you might think $1 is nothing but I can literally buy a block of cream cheese for $2.50 at the store. No biggie, the roll was still pretty decent. I didn't like that it wasn't cut all the way so some of the rolls stuck to each other. So I was struggling to pull the rolls apart. It had cucumber in it but the breading was thicker than the shrimp. Lobster tempura roll: 9/10 - I enjoyed this roll! It was so good! The lobster pieces were a really good size for the price! I wanted to add daikon to the roll but again, they wanted to charge me to swap out an ingredient. I opted out of it so I had it how it was. I think it had kani salad in it, lobster tempura, avocado, masago, and cucumber. It was a good size but only had 6 pieces of it. Wished they must made it the standard 8 pieces for the roll but regardless, I enjoyed this roll. Chirashi: 8/10 - my husband had this and he loved it! It had an assortment of raw fish and some cooked items like tamago (egg) and imitation crab on top of a bed of rice and some daikon radishes on the side. The portion was good for the amount of food that you get. You also get a soup and salad with this. The salad was just pieces of ice berg lettuce drowned in ginger dressing (you can choose ranch instead if you want). The salad looked like soup to be honest with the amount of dressing on it. The miso soup was okay from what my husband said. Cheese wontons/rangoons: 5/10 - I love eating cheese rangoons and these were a disappointment. They were not perfectly golden and crispy, but a little bit pale for my liking and tasted like nothing. There was a good amount of filling and imitation crab inside but it was nothing special. The chili sauce made it a little better but I wouldn't get this again. Overall, I would probably stop by again if I was in the area but not go out of my way. The food is good, but some items are hits or misses on the portion size and price point.
