Stick to the sushi! We have had sushi several times and it is very good. Went the other night for dinner and decided to try something else off the menu. I had the hibachi chicken and calamari prepared on the kitchen. The chicken was rubbery and dry, the calamari was fishy tasting and the fried rice had zero flavor. My daughter and I went there on a saturday night. She had the Bento box and I had 3 hand rolls and the Unagi Don plus a draught Kirin. I asked if the beer was cold because I read someone on here got their beer and it was warm. Mine was warm too. I sent it back and just drank water. The hand rolls were real soggy like they had been sitting out for awhile. The Ungai Don was real good. After I returned the beer, the service wasn't as good as when we arrived. I may have pissed her off by saying, "You said the beer is cold". She asked if I wanted some ice for it. Ice in beer? When we left I asked the guy behind the front counter why the beer was so warm and he said "because the door to the fridge gets opened a lot. I took it off your bill." What? Fix the problem. First time coming to Sakura after wanting to go since it opened! Family and I got seated at the hibachi and was highly entertained by the cook. It was very fun! The food was amazing! Five of us had hibachi. The chicken was too tough to the point where it was inedible. Scallops were pretty slimy. Shrimp was good. Salad and soup beforehand were good. Hopefully they will work out the food kinks since they're still fairly new. read more

Service was slow, the rice tasted like the steak, got drink orders wrong, sushi was mediocre and apparently you can only sit at the hibachi tables if everyone orders hibachi. It was worth a try but I'll stick with the others in town. read more

Upon arrival there was 2 people and 5-6 employees. It seems there is 1 server working. They ran out of multiple items that I wanted, including basic bar items. One tool was good the other I didn't even finish because it tasted bad. The waiter apologetic (and tried hard with what he had) while the rest of the crew was in bad laughing and joking. I need to write this review before I go into my Saturday food coma. So good! We all enjoyed our lunches and found it quite entertaining. We had the Filet Mignon, Chicken, and shrimp on the hibachi. Our kids enjoyed the Bento boxes. And I added 3 choices of Maki. All excellent. Nice portions, good quality, and the lunch prices were very reasonable. The food was good. The entertainment was good. It was busy! We made reservation and we only waited 10 minutes for a table. They have a nice bar... with not liquor. They do offer beer and wine and Sake. The one complaint is the constant happy birthday, fireworks and gongs going off all night long!! Too much. Such a cool multi-dining-experience Japanese restaurant! I love the idea that you can sit down at a regular old 4-top, chill and watch masterpieces made at the sushi bar (by Chinese sushi chefs!) or choose to sit at the hibachi tables where they cook and perform in front of you! We sat at the sushi bar when we went on a Wednesday night at the end of August, we were sat immediately and ordered and finished our meal in about 50 minutes. During our time there, we enjoyed imported beer, seaweed salad, some nigiri, vegan/vegetarian sushi rolls, and some mochi ice cream to finish the meal. The food was good, but the service wasn't that great. Personally, I preferred chatting to and ordering from the sushi chefs over the walk around waiters. We tried this place for lunch the first time the other day and were not overly impressed. Prices were a little high and I found most of the food to be precooked. I ordered the teriyaki chicken bento box and the chicken was precooked with some type of seasoning salt then sliced. Served room temperature and dry. Came here for the first time with my boyfriend on a Friday and surprisingly around 8:30 when we arrived it was so quiet, we got the whole grill to ourselves. My rice had some hard pieces so it could have been old and my chicken had no flavor. I tried my boyfriends lobster and I thought it tasted fishy. I wasn't happy with our food at all and we spent around $100. After a few bites I got a stomach ache and we had to leave. Won't be coming back, if it wasn't for our chef who was funny and very friendly I would give it one star. read more

The food was good but the service was really lacking. The waitress wanted all the people that ordered habachi to sit on one side all together . I'm sorry but no, we were a big party and there were couples, and that does not make sense. She kept getting confused on our orders, we didn't get shrimp from the hibachi grill, but they went to the back of the kitchen and brought shrimp out. The whole reason for paying a lot is to have it cooked in front of you. We also had only one chef. I could not see what he was doing, our group was seated around both grills. The food is really good. Went for a dinner celebrating a birthday, and our party took up one whole side of a hibachi table. We ordered hibachi and sushi. Sushi was really good, much better than I was expecting! Hibachi was also good - the meat and seafood seemed fresh and was cooked perfectly. The fried rice was a little lacking, but that's trivial. Also, the chef has this bottle of sake (a little watered down, but sake nonetheless!) that he squirts the adults mouths if they want - very fun. The service was decent, and the waiter and chef were very conscious of one of our party's seafood allergy. Overall, great restaurant, I really hope woodland has the ability to keep it afloat. Food is extremely salty......too much sauce. Cook used too much butter in food. Basically they are murdering my appetite.

First off i would like too say this was the worst experience ever we been here before with my wife and the first time was amazing but this time was the worst experience ever they sat us down about 7:25 we ordered our food everything was going good an hour later still no food were just sitting there waiting for the cheff,Cheff never comes and when he did he just left too another table so were mad because we drove an hour away too get treated like this the reason why we think so because a lot of ppl cancel there reservations and it was just me and my wife and our baby but its not our fault ppl cancel but after yesterday January 8,2022 the only person that asked if they can help was the bartender and a person that was cleaning the tables they noticed that we were sitting waiting for over and hour and the lady comes by and ask what happened what happened you guys never cooked or came and brought us our salad or soup and another table that was not sitting for even 10 minutes and got there soup and salads this is the worst experience ever would not recommend it there not after yesterday if i can give them no stars i would read more

This is what Woodland needed, the food was excellent, the service was excellent and it was a lot of fun, my kids really enjoyed it and they already asked to go back soon. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because they gave my chicken to another person at the table, it's not a big deal because they made me more and I was going to take it home anyway. I really wanted to like this place as it was just down the street from my work place. However, I had the worst restaurant experience in my life here! I went there for lunch with my sister and we ordered 2 appetizers ( the chicken and cheese maki and a sakura salad) and 2 sashimi lunch specials. It took them 25 minutes to bring out the chicken appetizer and another 10 minutes for the sakura salad which was basically just spicy tuna wrapped with 2 slices of salmon, imitation crab meat and sliced avocado thrown on top with sauce on it. They took so long on our orders! We saw the customers next to us, who came in after us, and order the hibachi plates and sushi rolls and they were able to get their orders before we even got our appetizers! This was some bullshit. I was pissed. Not once did anyone come and check on us or even apologize for taking so long with our food. When they brought out the sakura salad, we told them to just bag up the sashimi plates to go and give us our bill. I have no idea why it took them so long to slice up some fish and put them on a plate but this did not make my experience there a good one. I will not be going back any time soon. read more

Great to have something different in town that you don't have to travel to Sacramento for. I made reservations, so had no problem getting an hibachi table. We were celebrating a birthday. Shared the table with another family, which was also fun. All of our food was delicious, filet mignon, prawns, scallops and chicken. I recommend adding bacon to the fried rice otherwise it is bland. Enjoyed the chef cooking in front of us and adding his humor and cooking skills for entertainment. Was a good night shared by all. I will have to go back and try their sushi bar. read more

We went there once and had the hibachi. The show was fun and the food was pretty good. Steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops all good. the lobster was tough but it was a samplers. Grilled veggies and fried rice were good as well. the second time we went we just sat in the regular table area. Service was not very good. After drinks were served they never asked us if we wanted refills. The sushi was okay. The miso soup and appetizers we had were not great. I know its new so I hope the service gets better but we probably won't 'go back unless its for the grill table. read more

We went once for hibachi and once just for a Japanese dinner. I thought the value for the lunch hibachi was an excellent deal. We got steak that was tender and delicious, yummy vegetables, great fried rice, a nice little soup and salad, and we ordered some rolls on the side that were very fresh and tasty. THAT SAID, the hibachi chef was struggling. English was not his strong point, except he kept trying to engage the audience really excessively, and his attempts at jokes kept falling flat. He freaked out a 5 year old girl who was eating there by trying to get her to catch food in her mouth (she repeatedly said no and finally her dad offered to take the bite instead) and was quite aggressive about trying to get DH and I to take squirts of sake out of a bottle (dude, its lunch, no). So, it was a pretty painfully awkward experience from the entertainment side of it. We saw the guy working 2 other times we went for non-hibachi meals and he was struggling the same way. I don't know, maybe he's just not our style. We went back 2 other times for sushi and Japanese food and it was excellent. The sushi/sashimi combo was delicious and fresh, the yakitori noodles were really delicious and our 2 toddlers inhaled them, in addition to their miso soup and rice, which are our boys' fave. We also had the lunch sushi bento meals and they were an excellent value. The price point for the quality is very good. read more
