I had the filet mignon and chicken combo, the mignon was decent texture-wise but the flavors were all basically the same combination of soy sauce, lemon and pepper. So we waited another 10 minutes for the other half of the tables food. Then we had to ask for plates and more to drink and she rolled her eyes. I order the lunch special, chicken.. the chicken is tough though it looks nice. I tried a few pieces and all were tough so I may grill them some more so they are less tough. This seems to be a very nice place. Things started off ok but did not turn out very well. Three of us came for dinner and two of us ordered bento boxes. I ordered some sushi items. The hot bento boxes came out no problem. I waited and waited for my order while my dinner partners politely waited to begin their meal. After ten minutes I asked for the manager. He was polite but basically blew me off saying sushi takes longer to prepare. Fine, no problem but how difficult would it be to time the hot items to come out when the sushi is ready?? My favorite Japanese Restaurant in Woodland. I have never been disappointed in the meals I've had here. Sushi, tonkatsu, salmon, etc. I have had various items from the menu and was never disappointed. Service is good and plenty off street parking. May I add they have a bar. Sakura can accommodate large parties and there is a variety of items on the menu so everyone should be able to find something. Highly recommend going there. read more

We had to ask like 3 times to get a table because they just ignored us. And then, one guy from the kitchen took us to the table. We ordered Ton Kutshu bento lunch, seafood Udon, and fried cheesecake. The Bento was ok, but they didn't give me any Ton Kutshu sauce. Seafood udon was the worst. It tastes nothing. There were only shrimps, scallops, and fake crab meat. It was $15.99. If you have not been to a hibachi style Japanese restaurant the entertainment factor will wow you. I will break it down / Service was almost nonexistent. Waited over 15 minutes for a drink order and another 10 -15 for drinks to arrive. Three shifts, soda, one beer, wine. 35-40 minutes in for food order. Salad than soup came out quickly but was pretty much thrown on the hibachi counter at us by the server. Chef came out about 15 minutes later to cook our food order. He put out dipping sauces first shoving our salad and soup dishes to the side. I had to stack the used dishes to the side. After about 10 minutes passed and someone noticed and bused half the table and a little later the other half. The chef was great, fun and interactive. This experience was ruined by horrible service. Food was very good and cooked as requested. We had steak, tuna, shrimp, scallops and chicken. Chicken was overdone but not bad for boneless skinless breasts. Did not care for the American style small salad or the broth soup. This is a bit pricey at around 25.00 per entree, sides 5.00. Bogle chardonnay 7.00 a glass. Entertainment is outstanding. Celebrated 2 birthdays and the dessert show was over the top. If you have ever been to Hisui or Benihana this is similar. I've been waiting to see the inside of this place since I found out what is was going to be, as soon as I walked in I could hear the loud cheering from the customers around the Habachi grills and you could see the flames and smiling faces. Shrimp/over cooked not cut. Scallop/not consistent some over cooked some soft. Fillet, over cooked, no heat control asked for Med. got Med. well, no pink. Chicken/Dry) not saying he isn't a good cook but I'm pretty sure they are all still learning to cook with the grills and there wasn't much heat control methods used. It also comes with soup (mushroom) wasn't a fan. A salad, that to me was way over dressed with ginger dressing. But to the most disappointing part of the dinner-- the fried rice doesn't have BACON- (if you have been to Tokyo Steakhouse in Natomas you know what I'm talking about.) Asked the waitress if they had bacon on the menu so maybe we could have it added to the rice if so and she literally looked at me as if I was crazy. (Hey I like bacon in my rice) We had also ordered a side of fillet for our child. That didn't ever make it to the table-- it got taken off the bill so no complaints. The bathroom however.. went to the ladies room, caution wet floor sign in front of the door. Just thinking oh maybe they just mopped we walk in. 3 year old needs to go -- so I'm kinda looking around and notice that the drain in the floor has a puddle of water around it. Odd. She finishes up, flush the toilet, turn around to head towards the sink to wash our hands and realize what the puddle is. Backed up sewage water that I'm now standing in. Totally disgusted we quickly wash our hands and find a manager to tell. They already knew, hints the sign, and plumber on the way. Thankfully we were done with dinner by this point. As we walked out the plumber was arriving-- glad to see they were prompt about the situation and are in the works of fixing it. Why the 4 stars then ? Cause they are new, and this place has lots of potential. I hope the manager/ owner see this and improve in some places to be a successful restaurant. They are on the right path. I got to say I have been to this restaurant 2 times now and the food is so good. Sat in the dining area two times now and next time I will have the courage to go eat at the hibachi station. I have had the Fancy Roll and it was so good and today the tried Chirachi (might of spelled that wrong) it is chef choice 12 piece Sashimi with sushi rice and a salad. OMG that was the best. I highly recommend going there but take your time and enjoy the tasty treats they have. A+++ read more

My husband and I came here on a Saturday early evening to try out the Hibachi grill. The food was delicious, we had the Sakura special to try everything chicken, shrimp, scallop, lobster and filet mignon. The seafood was impeccable but the chicken was a little dry. The rice was delicious, I couldn't stop eating it. The chef was wonderful, he was funny, skilled and entertaining. That's about where the positivity stops. The waitress was lackluster and ignored us several times while asking everyone else at the table if they needed anything. Our bill would have been higher causing her tip to increase if she had asked if we needed anything. We only tipped to make sure the chef got a cut of the cash, if it weren't for him she would have gotten a big fat goose egg. Hubby wanted a beer but was so annoyed she ignored us he was over trying. Be prepared for HEAT with several grills going at once the temperature in the building gets up there. The cocktails sign outside is lit up but since they're still a newer business they are currently only serving beer, wine and sake. I understand that but if that's the case the sign should be off. I was really looking forward to a real cocktail upon my arrival but instead had to settle for overpriced sake. Maybe in a month or two we will come back to see if the kinks have been worked out and the booze is flowing. It's at least worth a one time visit. read more

I really liked this place my grandma and I would go here for lunch been here for dinner with my family until last week. My friend was visiting from Santa Barbra and I wanted to take her to one of my favorite places for lunch I usually just get chicken and rice (never sushi) but I wanted to try it. I usually get raw sushi because that's my favorite I got the Alaskan and some tuna roll. It came out and I ate one roll it didn't come out good at all and it's raw so I stopped eating because maybe it's bad? Anyways I tell the server and she's so rude I just asked for chicken teriyaki. She brings it out it's good as usual when she brings the checks the sushi is still on there. I asked her why? She said "because my manager isn't here!" Screaming and slamming her hands on the table. Then I asked if I can talk to someone else there was only two servers in there. When I tried to explain to the other server THEY LAUGHED AT ME. They really had the audacity to laugh at me. I then asked to talk their manager on the phone she really said she doesn't have her managers number. Are you kidding me. I work in the restruant business. This would never or ever be acceptable. Then when I tried to walk out without paying because they were laughing and screaming at me. She tried to grab my hand helllll no. I said "wtf are you doing" because who tries to grab a customer??? I tried calling the restaurant to speak the manager and he's always busy obviously he doesn't care. I didn't know this place existed. I guess they opened 5-6 months ago based on the reviews. It is located on the corner of Cottonwood and Court Street in Woodland CA. We came in the evening and there was plenty of parking. There are two well lit street signs so you can easily find it at night. I would suggest having the sign on the building lit as well. The space is huge, modern looking, and clean. There are separate dining areas; booth and tables section, sushi bar limited seating, a full bar area, and a grilling section where you can sit as they cook in front of you. We sat in the booth area and could see the grilling section. The chefs were very enthusiastic and entertaining (gotta try that next time). The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. We ordered a noodle dish, sushi, beef teriyaki, and a tataki dish (seared). All were very good, but the tataki could use a type of dipping sauce other than soy. Pricing is average, that of this type of restaurant. Some might think it's expensive, and it can be if you have a large party. All in all, it was a good experience and a plus for Woodland. I grew up in Woodland and moved away. But it is cool to come back and see all the stuff they have now. This place being one of them, I've now been here a couple of times. Once pre-baby and once post-baby, so I'm gonna review off of both those experiences, both at the hibachi table. Pre-baby we came for my uncles birthday, it was a blast, sake being sprayed into our mouths and sake bombs. Such a fun atmosphere and the food was delicious! Fried rice, veggies and I had NY steak and chicken! Great steak and great chicken. Now for post baby, we came here last minute on Father's Day when we missed out reservation at the Buckhorn. Again the atmosphere was so fun, always a show and experience. The food was still good, I had the filet mignon and shrimp this time, the steak was still delicious, but the shrimp was extremely salty. And let me tell you I LOVE salty stuff. So for me to say it was salty...it was. But I still ate it, cause well... food and hungry haha no sake this time. But we did have a couple appetizers; tempura, calamari and spring rolls. All were excellent. Definitely recommend coming here for a party, or maybe if you're looking for a different kinda date night. Maybe steer clear of the shrimp if you don't like salt! And as we came here post baby with our 3 month old they did have the high chairs you can flip to hold a car seat, which was very helpful. But I will say I don't know about having a baby super close to the grill, the flame got a little too hot and bright for him. He startled a few times, but was otherwise ok.
