First of the servers were super nice and chill! I got the spiked horchata which I didn't even know it was a thing! I wonder if they had one without the vanilla rum but anyways it was amazing! I got the el pastor tacos and I was amazed how flavorful the chicken was. Overall good experience and they also give you a free appetizer which was like a hard bean taco! read more

We were hungry for Mexican food. I looked at many options, but most had upscale furnishings, and prices. The bartender at Pop Culture Museum suggested this place. Boy, was she spot on. We were no more seated, then we were served a free, small bean Tostada. Yummy! I ordered a bartender favorite margarita. Delicious! Typically I would get a second one during my meal, but this one had a great kick. One was enough. The chips and salsa were perfect, as were our meals. Highly recommend. read more

This restaurant is a 3-5min walk from Climate Pledge so it was super easy to pop in before a show this last weekend. They were fairly busy, I think we were arriving just as a rush was ending. The hostess was quick in setting us and we were greeted by someone who brought us water and let us know that our server would be with us soon. A server brought us a delicious little appetizer (see picture) that was surprisingly spicy! We got our menus and waited a little while before our server came by to introduce himself and take my husband's drink order. We'd waited long enough that we were ready to order food but he zipped off before we could. It wasn't too long before he was back with a drink and we placed our food orders. The food was fabulous - I honestly wanted to clean my plate but just didn't have the room. The portion sizes are more than enough for one hungry person and everything we've had has been fantastic. This is a fun and loud place; very family friendly, especially in the upstairs area. The menu has a few crowd favorites and some interesting things to try as well so you'd be able to find something for everyone. read more

Love this restaurant! The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome as soon a we walked in. There was a disruption outside that was annoying so we asked to be seated upstairs (it's so nice up there) and they were super nice about this request. Our server came to the table with complimentary bean tostadas that were so delicious! That was a nice twist from the normal chips and salsa. We both enjoyed our dishes. I would definitely visits again if I'm in the Seattle area. Highly recommend! read more

Came here on a weekday for dinner. Not very busy so we got seated right away. Free appetizers were served before we placed our order, which was a good surprise. I don't know what they were (tortillas topped with cheese & refried beans), but they tasted delicious. We ordered guacamole w/ chips & salsa, prawn tacos, and burrito. The food was definitely more than enough for two people. The guacamole was quite legit. I also liked their avocado salsa. The prawn tacos I had were very tasty - the grilled prawns were fresh and perfectly seasoned/grilled. The tortillas were very soft and smooth, well paired with the filling. I tried my boyfriend's burrito and enjoyed it too. The beef was tender and flavorful. My boyfriend liked the food but didn't think it was the best he had had in town though. Our waiter was nice and provided fast service. There was no mandatory tip. It was a lovely dinner and I'd love to be back! read more

Great place for lunch or happy hour in lower Queen Anne! You get a free lil app, food is enough to satisfy a craving, and drinks are tasty. The margaritas are good but the spiked horchata is where it's at! The server warned me it was hard to have just one and he was definitely correct. Food is solid for the neighborhood and their menu covers a lot of items. One of my favorites is the red pozole, soothing and tasty for a chilly day. It's also really spacious inside and service is always excellent. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area! read more

Came here for dinner takeout. My boyfriend had Carne Asada and I had fish taco + shrimp taco. I think Carne Asada was a much better choice than Fish Taco and Shrimp Taco. The tacos were not bad, but just a little underwhelming. I think the shrimp taco in El Grito in South Lake Union is way better. But I really like the restaurant itself, even though it was empty when I picked up my food, it looks like a place with good party ambiance during normal time. read more

Visiting Seattle and found this gem! The hostess allowed us to do a call ahead reservation which was awesome. She was very polite in showing us to our table when we arrived 5 minutes early, too! Our waiter greeted us immediately with waters. He was very attentive. We ordered right away, having already scoped the menu out front. This was AMAZING Mexican food. We had bacon wrapped shrimp, a strawberry margarita, and steak fajitas. The shrimp were SO good. The house sauce that comes in them has just enough kick to tickle the tastebuds! Honey isn't in love with the strawberry margarita, but he prefers blended to on the rocks. Wish they would have told him they don't do blended when he ordered / wish he would have asked. The steak fajitas are excellent. The veggie to meat ratio is a bit skewed, and the guacamole was less than a tablespoon, but the sauce and the tenderness of the meat didn't make me miss the guacamole too much. Overall this was an enjoyable dinner spot. It's not too loud, they have space to accommodate larger parties. Not sure on parking because we walked from the hotel, but there are some on the street parking spots. Edit: they don't serve chips and salsa before the meal and the ladies bathroom only has 2 stalls. Sal y Limon is an excellent Mexican restaurant with good food and superb service. Instead of the typical chips and salsa, we were served a tostada with refried beans, melted cheese with cabbage and a little tomato. I liked the tostada because often we eat too many chips and can hardly finish our meal. My husband and I ordered the Enchiladas Del Mar that had scallops,crab and shrimp with a tomatillo sauce and a sprinkle of cheese, along with a pint of Pacifico draft. We were sated and content and left Sal y Limon feeling as if we can easily return to explore the rest of the menu. read more

This place is awesome. Great food, atmosphere, drinks and the service was terrific. They don't take reservations, but as long as the majority of your party is there you will get seated. It's a perfect place to grab a meal before a show at the Climate Pledge. My only wish is that they had coffee/ boozy drinks to go! read more

I had a great experience here while I was in Seattle. The service was great and the food was amazing, we had a party of 10 and everyone loved the food! Tortillas were handmade and the mole tasted authentic. We all had some drinks and they come pretty strong so make sure you are ready for the tequila. I recommend 100%. read more

The 3 star was due to their lack of being organized upfront and managing the people in the order they arrive. It doesn't help that the front area is small, but regardless, there's no sense of organization. The food was good along with the service, I've been here 3 times and would probably return but my last visit I had to leave as I was frustrated with their lack of organization. read more

My husband and I came here for a quick meal before we went to a gig. Honestly it was ok. I was really disappointed with the quality of food. It was fine to eat but I wouldn't recommend it and I don't think I'll be coming back. I felt like the atmosphere was more like a sports bar than a restaurant and while the service was good I just felt like the food was lacking. I had a prawn dish and my husband had the fajitas. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

Very authentic ingredients and food! Came here with my 11 year old daughter and they sat us upstairs with a great window view. We Ordered the chips with salsa and guacamole as a starter we also ordered a root beer (the good stuff from a keg). I also ordered the Ultimate Margarita and it was simple and tasty. And don't even get me started about the chicken mole, absolutely out of this world, and my daughter said she loved her custom carne asada. My daughter is picky and they handled our custom steak order wonderfully. The serving speed was excellent, and our server was super nice. We had our order within 5 minutes. Amazing spot! We are out of Cali and this spot was referred to us by a family member. Walked in and immediately greeted by a friendly individual. The bar is where we reside and it did not disappoint. Get a drink and ask for the complimentary tostada. So delicious, I'll take it over chips and salsa any day. Adrian the bartender hooked it up and I had a guava and cucumber mojito which was so tasty! When I say this was one of the best experiences of Mexican food ever I mean that!! The food was extremely flavorful. The ceviche was perfect, the drinks were perfect, the carne asada tacos even better. I have zero complaints. I can't even put into words how satisfied I was. I had to go outside for a vape break and come back and keep diving in these masterpieces!! 10/10 highly recommend! My compliments to the chef and whoever abuela is back there giving out her killer recipes. The music and atmosphere is perfect for the venue as well. The waiters were super friendly! read more

This location has seen a couple of restaurants. The wait staff is attentive and the food is pretty good. They have good vegetarian options (I am veg) and I'm particularly fond of queso fundido with mushrooms. Drinks are decent strength and most made from scratch. It's down the block from my condo and in a city that's light on Mexican fare, it's worth a go. read more

¡HOLA, bienvenidos! What a great place to go for both pre and post game. Great authentic Mexican food. The best part is they offer the entire menu on game nights unlike the other restaurants in the area. They sit as us down and we immediately inquired about to the two variations of carne asada. The regular and then one that was a little different with Jalapeños. I'm all over the spicy version. Next thing we now they bring us out this complimentary tostada. Damn that was some serious goodness. We inquired about the beans because they added a little heat to the tostada. The server/owner gave us the secret on the beans after we swore to secrecy. He said you will like the beans that come with your meal as you liked these. Our meals came out fast and we dug into the beans that accompanied our meals. And they were just ranch style pintos so they were not as good as the free appetizer. Next thing we know the server/owner brings us out small plates of the bean we favored. The food came out so fast that this allowed us to have another ice cold beer oh my was it cold. Our experience was so great we ate their the following week and it was just as tasty. Go give them a try 10 Mercer Street. 5 minutes from Alaska Airlines entry or 3 minutes from Mt. Baker entrance. A bitchin place for your pregame meal and post game celebrations. The menu is vast and is not your typical American/Mexican menu at other places. read more

We were a party of 7 visiting Seattle and had dinner to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We made a mistake of not making reservations. The hostess told us that the wait was 30 minutes, and it was over 45 minutes. There were empty seats downstairs but we couldn't go there since we had teenagers & it was bar area. Our server was not friendly and when she carded our daughter for alcoholic drink, she didn't acknowledge that it was our daughter's birthday. Everyone enjoyed their entrees; however, my carnitas was disappointing. It was small portion size and was dry & not tasty. It is not a fun place to celebrate birthdays since none of the staff sang her a birthday song and the server did not seem happy with giving our daughter a complimentary dessert. read more

Definitely get the mole: Well-spiced sauce, plus apples, which was a new addition to my typical mole flavor experience. Looking forward to trying other options next time! Also super-attentive service, even right after a Seattle Storm game. And lots of food: Given that there was a tasty appetizer *and* tortillas included, I couldn't eat everything, and it really could be a meal for two if you were eating light! Visited Seattle this past weekend with my husband and we went to dinner at Sal Y Limon since it was close to our hotel. It's a little on the pricey side but the food was absolutely delicious. We got the shrimp ceviche, steak fajitas and the chile relleno. Everything was phenomenal. Also this place has the best home made corn tortillas I have ever had in my life. First of all: excellent service. Birthday notification resulted in free shot of top shelf mezcal and the host was charming and welcoming. Our server was a little under pressure because the place was busy, but she was busting her ass. The food was very, very good. Maybe not 5 star good, but pretty gd good. I have to subtract a star because the margarita was weak and the mix was not very good. The margarita really makes this like a 3.5 star experience overall, but given the hustle and effort to make us happy, 4 it is. read more

History

Established in 2018.

Jesus Magaña and his family, Alexis and Lulis Magaña, have been opening up restaurant locations all over the northwest for the last 20 years. With over a century of restaurant experience between the three of them, as well as several other restaurant locations under the name Mi Tierra, the idea of Sal Y Limón was created. On March 12, 2018 we opened our doors in lower Queen Anne. Offering a wide array of services and menu items that sets us apart from other Mexican restaurants, Sal Y Limón features hand-made tortillas and slow-cooked adobada (pork). "Menudo", a specialty dish that is so time consuming it is hardly found north of the border, is available on weekends along with other similar plates. Sal Y Limón is a two-story building, with an open bar on the downstairs and a dining level on the second floor. The mole sauce used leaned way too heavily on a sweet flavor - having little to no nuttiness whatsoever. It didn't taste anywhere close to some of the best moles I've had. The enchilada underneath was fine - nothing special. Both dishes came with beans and rice. Both were slightly above average, but nothing to write home about. I would say the portions were well sized in terms of overall amount, but the enchiladas were quite small compared to the beans and rice. With these two dishes we ended up around 28 per person. Overall, it's average Mexican food. 6.5/10

We had enchiladas, a dip sampler (for appetizer) and Tlacoyos. Everything was fine but nothing really stood out, sadly. It wasn't very busy while we were there, so hoping that they are doing ok as a business. I would love to come back if they brought back the old menu w/ things that you cannot really find elsewhere, including the great cocktail menu and desserts that were offered previously.

For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Perhaps the A team works the dinner shift, as there is zero service for the Sunday brunch shift. La Loba is led by a James Beard-Nominated Chef with experience at renowned Michelin-starred restaurants, which is why our experience at La Loba was so extra disappointing. As a guest, I expected more, and as guests, we should have received more. We were sat and our server takes our order. We did not see him again until the end our meal. Despite it not being busy, as they first opened at 10:00 AM, we were never checked on while we waited 20 minutes for waffles and tableside French toast. Perhaps we changed our minds, and did want to order coffee, or a cocktail, or supplement to our order (which I did), but was never afforded the opportunity as we never saw our server, and all other servers seemed incredibly busy just walking around the restaurant, not doing very much. This was not isolated to our table; there was another table where they were essentially left alone after their food arrived. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing brunch, La Loba will not be providing it, as there is a DJ playing music for ambience. The music was incredibly loud, where I could not hear my husband, who was sitting 3 feet away from me. When the food finally arrived, we were given a "show" (the tableside French toast), I am not sure why the server bothered to tell us what he was adding, as we could not hear him over the music and his mumbling. The food was unimpressive. My husband's waffles were hard and dry. My "XXL" French Toast was essentially a huge hunk of bread, topped with fresh berries, granola, nuts, vanilla gelato, and choice of local honey or dulce de leche. I had expected the bread to have been sliced and stacked, or for the bread itself to be somewhat flavorful. But no. Almost $40 for a hunk of hard, bland bread and some berries. The only flavorful aspect of the plate was the gelato. I could have forgiven the food if the service was better. Our server finally made an appearance to clear our plates and was shocked I didn't finish my hunk of bread. It was only at this point he asked if wanted anything else. We received our check as he hovered while we tapped our card to pay, and immediately cleared our table as we were getting up. If only he gave the same attention to clearing our table as he did in actually hosting us with hospitality, we would have returned for dinner. The food is not spectacular, or singular enough to override the non-existent service. The restaurant, like its food, is beautiful to the eye, but a huge disappointment when you actually experience it. A generous one star, because zero is unavailable. Just another Seattle restaurant with self-entitled service staff expecting a 20 percent gratuity for barely doing the minimum.
