Hubby found this gem in Seattle via trusted Yelp and it was the perfect spot for us to grab lunch and kill some time before heading to the airport. This spot is located away from the hustle of downtown but it was close enough for us to walk to from the Space Needle. We were seated right away as they weren't busy and were given each a taco appetizer (which was a nice touch). Both of us ordered the fajitas and they were hearty and delicious! I couldn't decide between chicken or steak so they let me have half / half. The sauce they use was so tasty and all of the meat and veggies were super tender. Why deduct a star? Unfortunately they don't provide free chips and salsa (which came as a shock). You have to pay for guacamole which comes with chips. Also, their menu is quite pricey for what they offer and most entrees don't necessarily come with rice or beans. The Diet Coke is served from the bar tap and tasted quite off; however, I was thrilled they didn't charge us for refills even though the menu stated each drink only came with one. Lastly, the bench for seating that extends the entire length of the restaurant was so uncomfortable and didn't do justice to my back. Flew in from CA for my Birthday, My daughter found this amazing lil spot after we spent the day at Chulily Glass Garden. Started out with Camarones Momia and Guac with 3 Salsas, Cheve-Marg and Mango Marg then ordered Verde Pork Enchiladas with Rice and Black Beans to eat in our hotel for later. First of all the service here is great. They not only make sure you always have a drink, but they also are friendly and helpful with making choices from the menu. It does not matter who is helping you, because the service is exceptional. The margaritas are excellent as are their mojitos. I enjoyed the watermelon, mango, pineapple and kiwi mojitos. They also have a good selection of Mexican beers to choose from. They have a fair sized menu but there are a lot of things that are not on the menu that I wish they had. I love the nachos and the burrito here, although the regular burrito is better than the veggie burrito. The Ave Arroz was a good entree and the tamales were also solid. I think they need more small selections of food for happy hour but besides that all the food is good. read more

We've been back here several times, and continue to enjoy exploring the food. But what really continues to stand out is the service. We were there with a friend who told the server she was allergic to corn just as our amuse bouche on a corn tortilla was delivered. Even though she protested, they insisted on bringing her a new one she could eat. She forgot to tell them she was vegetarian, so when they brought the new plate, which had pork, again they insisted on replacing it. She also wanted to order the mole, which has chicken, and the server checked with the kitchen and said they could make her a vegetarian version, which made her very happy. We stopped here on our way up to Queen Anne and our meal was great! I got the Carne Arrachera and it was a Mexican dish that I hadn't tried before but it was fantastic. It was super savory and it tasted like it was made with a lot of care. The rice and beans on the side were also made with care and I scarfed down the whole plate. Was visiting the Space Needle and Chihuly on Friday and came across reviews for this establishment and decided we'd walk on over and try it out. Came in around 2:30-3:00 for a late lunch and it was perfect because only a few tables were seated. Good music playing, extremely friendly and courteous staff who goes above and beyond to make sure you are relaxed and comfortable while dining in their place. Something that I really appreciated was the fact that you got a tostada that was small in size, but so delicious! Not your normal chips and salsa which is perfect because usually you get full off of that. I had a glass bottled Coke from Mexico and he had a margarita on the rocks. Both did not disappoint. He had ordered a sandwich off the lunch menu that came with the chicken tortilla soup which he said was very tasty. I had ordered a burrito off of their lunch menu that had steak in it, charbroiled. This was like no burrito that I've had before, it was absolutely amazing! Hands down the best that I've ever had. It's rare that I finish a meal and there was not one piece of food left on my plate! Surprisingly spicey. We all ordered margaritas. I got the $13 Flaca margarita because the waiter assured me it had the strongest tequila flavor. Just okay, but I did get two. I should have gotten a beer instead. I'd give the margarita a two, just decent, not spectacular, and overpriced considering. It was either weak tequila or overpowered with mix ... I want to taste the tequila, not hide it. Wife and I got the Enchiladas Del Mar (seafood), one daughter the fajitas, the other Steak a la Plancha, each $20. They should have a black bean alternative over refried, but otherwise the enchiladas (two per plate) were great. I'd give our food five stars for quality, quantity and price. The meals do not come with hot sauce, nor is there any on the tables. I had to ask. They brought me their hottest sauce (I'm originally from Los Angeles and grew up eating hot and spicey Mexican), but the sauce they brought was just okay, a flavorful mild heat. I expect that back home in Minnesota, or I guess, way up north in Washington. A 2. Great tortilla soup. Have gotten it for lunch at least once a week since January, and plan to continue until the sun returns. They bring a wide bowl piled with chicken, cilantro, avocado, house-made fried tortilla strips, fresh queso and jalapeño, then pour rich, piping hot broth over everything. The flavors melt into each other and bite by slurpy bite I can feel myself slowly decide that I might survive until the sun comes back. The jalapeño gives it all just the right heat, and serves as a palate-cleansing last bite when there is no broth left for them to flavor. When I first started coming here, I would order it to go, but I stay now, since the ambiance is nice for solo dining, very comfortable without being fussy, and every staff I have encountered is super friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the atmosphere and tremendous customer service we felt in our first visit here Friday night. Although I didn't have one I noticed that margaritas are their specialty as the name of the restaurant would indicate and they serve them in a standard margarita glass with a tin refill on the side. Somewhat like the reserve tin when ordering a milkshake at a hamburger shop. Solid. I had the carne asada which was very tasty and came with the usual sides along with flour tortillas. We started with their 3 salsa appetizer which costs money but is worth it as there are 3 very different salsas including a hot, mild green, and a pico de gallo. My wife got the fish tacos which is the only reason I went 4 stars here as they were tasty enough but a little unimaginative as far as the toppings and sides. Love, love, love this place. My second time here was just as good as the first. My manicurist is just down the street from here so I popped in for lunch. They give you a little appetizer tostada when you are seated. It is the perfect little snack. This visit I had the lunch Burrito Mi Tierra with steak. So yummy. I know this might sound weird but their beans are the best. Everything here is good but I think I'm obsessed with their beans. Their cocktails are delicious as well. i'll be very honest: i wouldn't normally consider going into a mexican or latin american restaurant and this one, from the outside, didn't really speak to me in the, "you really want to come in here/you'll love whatever you order here" way. but i was with two friends and we were in between siff movies at the uptown so needed to find a place on lower queen anne where we could get good food that was a little more than take out. after a walk around the 'hood considering our options, we finally decided on sal y limon although we were skeptical. i am very finicky about latin american food and hate that many places are rated far higher than they deserve. i honestly think that stems from the fact most people haven't traveled enough to know what good latin american food is...nevertheless, here we were and i was going to try to be open minded. a small appetizer arrived to our table for each of us within five minutes of sitting down without any explanation and it honestly took us off guard. being a vegetarian, i had to pass mine off to my friends but it's certainly a nice gesture to offer patrons something right off the bat. it was a little startling since we had yet to even talk to a server or order anything to have food placed in front of us. the chips and salsas we did actively order were very good! i was pleasantly surprised by the flavor, the heat and the difference between the three types contrasting with the guacamole they also came with. i ordered the shrimp street tacos which were adequate after being doctored up with some of the salsas but the contents were sparse. i wish they'd been filled fuller with shrimp as opposed to arugula. the drinks were fine as was the service. my friend visited the restroom and came back stating unequivocally that if the review were to be based solely on that aspect they'd get five stars as it was clean, well stocked and tidy! that's not worth disregarding. i'd say this place didn't wow me but neither did it turn me off so much that i wouldn't try it again. it was fine for what we were looking for and the three stars probably comes from a mix of the general level of cleanliness and attention to details as well as the overall food quality. read more

Sal Y Limon is the best Mexican restaurant in Lower Queen Anne. I would not go out of my way to eat here, but if you're in the area and have a craving for Mexicano food, it will hit the spot. The tortillas are not homemade which always docks a point for me. The chips are good, but nothing special. The guac is good, the pollo asado is good. Chicken enchiladas are just ok. I would easily go back any freaking day of the week. It was very authentic Mexican food. I will say immediately that the service lacked a lot to be desired. I don't know if I went on an off day or something but it was irritating for sure. Once it was resolved however, service was good. To start you off they give you a tostada with beans, lettuce and cheese which is a great intro to what you in store for. Next I ordered the queso and the Vampiro drink. The queso was seriously so good and I highly recommend with tortillas. The vampiro was strong as well as spicy (as advertised). For my main I ordered tacos and they didn't leave anything to be desired. They met every expectation! So good. I can't wait to explore more of the menu. read more
