Delicious. We just moved to the area and have ordered here three times. Everything has been hot and fresh and prepared quickly. The staff is super nice and repeat our phone orders to us when we come in to pick up just to be sure they got it right. The yellow curry is so delicious. I order spice level 4 and it is completely satisfying. My boyfriend gets basil fried rice, also delicious, it's a little sticky and saucy-yum. Give this place a try. I'm not really sure how to rate this. The food is good but the portions are small for the price. What grossed me out was when I asked for rice the waitress grabbed the rice that was served to the couple that was about to leave and served it on our table. I was shocked and looked at the couple. The lady said it's okay and that they didn't touch it. I told her that is not the point. We did not eat the rice, also did not feel well after. I have lived in the neighborhood for 12 years and this used to be my favorite place, but last night was my LAST visit to Sala Thai. First, the fish sticks came out and were all breading, 2 didn't even actually have fish in them and were hard as a rock. Panang came out all giant pieces of tofu and about 3 pieces of vegetable and very little sauce (same as last 2 times). The last straw, my 5 yr old and I were sitting and eating and we hear our server / young boy running the place start yelling at an employee in the kitchen then he proceeds to move out to the front still yelling at him about how he was going to cut his pay in half so expect his next check to be half what it is suppose to be and using at least 6 "f" words while yelling all that. I told the guy I didn't appreciate that and he said, "Oooops" and took an entire $2.10 off my check. Just kids running the place now, no food quality or quality in general. read more

Went for takeout recently - hadn't gone for a while during the pandemic when cooks were wearing their masks below their noses. In fact I declined one order because of this. Food has been great in the past but this time - was very mediocre even though it was super fresh - I went early to pick up, paid and they were still cooking. I had ordered by phone. I noticed a note stuck on the counter and went to read it. It said a $1.50 surcharge was added to every dish using a protein due to supply chain issues. Well OK, fair enough, but no one told me that on the phone, and no one told me that when I was paying. When I commented that I was happy to pay but would have liked someone to actually tell me about the surcharge I was met with indifference. I was told the sign had been there for a while. When I pointed out I had ordered by phone.... more indifference. I took the food, which was ho hum. Great Food Here! Have dined here 3 times and think it is the best Thai food I have found in Phoenix...in fact, it is in the top 3 Thai food place I have found anywhere (and the other two places are in Thailand). The other reviews are correct about using caution with the 5 Star heat index rating... 5 stars is quite hot and if you like your Thai food hot you will not be disappointed. The soup's and curries here are full favored and prepared perfectly. ...the quality and freshness of everything are outstanding. I rounded my 4 1/2 star rating up to 5 on this...the food was so good I didn't mind the fact that our waitress forgot to bring 2 things when asked. Exceptional Thai food. My mother-in-law, husband and kids always order Pad-see-ew and I like all of the curries. The yellow is so good with beef, the red is spot-on but my perennial favorite is the green. They use just about every green vegetable they can get their hands on and the flavor of the curry itself is heaven. read more

As they say in the industry, consistency is key. This place is always that. Very good food at very reasonable prices. They should add a liquor license, at least beer and wine but you can byob which is nice too. We live in #thesheaborhood and eat here at least 2x a month. I really want to like this place because it's local to me, it's a cool atmosphere, and it's reasonably priced. But after two visits, it's just not working for me. Once was takeout a few months ago and the second was a visit last week. Both times the drunken noodle was just bland and quite devoid of sauce and the vegetables were somewhat unevenly cooked. I have only dined in here once, but every time I have done to-go orders, it has been correct and delicious. I always get the pumpkin curry or the clear noodle soup without chicken because I am vegan! The pad Thai is also amazing even though the do not use the thin noodle traditionally used in such a dish. It is great to get in the winter time to warm you up! We get take out form here regularly and don't intend to quit! The food is delicious. There isn't anything we have tried that we didn't care for, from soup to curry to noodle dishes and apps. I went here for the first time on my birthday, and tried it again a few days ago. I've tried the chicken satay, egg rolls, Thai iced tea, pad Thai, Thai BBQ chicken, and the fried banana dessert with coconut ice cream. None of it disappointed. The wait staff are very friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the prices are reasonable. I'm sure I'll continue to go back - if you go, definitely do the dessert - it's DELICIOUS! Also, if you have a big party, you might have a tough time here unless you don't mind being split up - they have a few tables, but it's mostly booths that comfortably seat 2-4 adults. read more

thanks to Yelp we found Sala Thai after 5 years of living in our neighborhood. This place is super awesome! The food is amazing, its one of our weekly go-to's now. I am addicted to the Pad Thai. Their homemade ice cream is the best ice cream I have ever had. OK, I've eaten here twice and gotten the same things both times - Shrimp Pumpkin Curry. It's amazing. I never knew I liked cooked pumpkin until now! The service is OK, but really it's the food that's great. The ambiance is what you'd expect at a Thai restaurant. Tonight was especially fun sitting next to the fish tank with about a hundred fake fish swirling around in it. It held my daughter's attention at least. I'm taking off a star for the prices, which I consider to be a couple dollars higher than I'd like to pay for a strip mall restaurant like this. In all though, I'd recommend it! read more

Sadly, I'll probably never eat here again. My wife and I used to order curry dishes from here regularly, but hadn't for a while because it was never consistent. Half the time it was great, but the rest of the time it was watered down. After deciding to give them one more chance tonight, I was grossly disappointed. TL;DR version: - Red Curry was WAYY over-salted. I usually enjoy salty food, but it was over the top. - After explaining I deal with severe allergies (namely onions and peas) the server listed all the vegetables to ensure nothing was included that I couldn't have. She said they could leave off the onions. The dish came out FILLED with snow peas, which yes, are still peas. It also had a huge leek in it despite explaining the severity of my onion allergy. - She offered to remake the dish, but I had zero confidence in their ability to make it without allergens, so I declined. They DIDN'T remove it from the bill. We will never be going back here again. The whole experience was super disappointing and I will have to deal with an allergic reaction for 2-3 weeks because of their carelessness. If you also have food allergies or enjoy low blood pressure (aka not having ridiculously over-salted food), go elsewhere. read more

I would not normally Yelp but in this case I feel that I would be doing the owner a disservice. We arrived at 11am when the restaurant is suppose to open. The security gates were still on the windows and the server did not acknowledge that we were standing outside. We waited patiently until 11:06 when she opened the door and I asked her if the restaurant was open and she mentioned that she goes to school and can't get here by 11. We walked in and she said we could sit anywhere she then proceeded to put the gates away and set up all the tables and chairs outside and inside before she greeted us finally at 11:16. SALA THAI....I just moved here from L.A. where there are dozens of Thai restaurants competing for cheapest lunch and best tasting Thai food. First time I came here the food was pretty greasy. 2nd time the service was indifferent and snooty. 3rd time was the last time....terrible greasy garlic chicken. People that come here are white people that don't have any concept of the differences in races or nationalities or the kinds of food that makes ethnic food what it is or how it is supposed to taste People that come here are not worldly or not well travelled. Very delicious thai food - which is hard to come by in Arizona. A lot of vegan and vegetarian option, plus they did not make a fuss when I asked for my pad thai to exclude fish sauce and egg. This is our go-to place when we're hungry and don't want to cook. We've taken guests here on several occasions and no one has been disappointed. The food is excellent, but it's always a guessing game with the level of spice. We always say medium because we don't know what we're going to get. We like spicy food so it's not a problem for us.
