I came to Hello Vietnam specifically because I was looking for comforting vegan pho. I ordered vegan egg rolls and vegan pho, and triple-checked with my server that everything was vegan while ordering. I was unfortunately served chicken egg rolls instead. After eating about half of one, I noticed it tasted strange. I then asked the staff and they confirmed that one egg roll was chicken and the others were vegan. I haven't eaten chicken in 10 years, so this was really upsetting. They apologized and offered to remake the egg rolls which I agreed because I wanted what I ordered. But I ended up waiting 25 minutes. My pho got cold, and the restaurant was basically empty the entire time so it's not like the were busy. They even came over twice to ask if I still wanted them.. when I had told her twice already that I did in fact want them. I finally got my vegan egg rolls after almost half an hour and they are over-peppered and essentially inedible. Mistakes happen, but serving someone food that doesn't match their dietary restrictions (when it was very clearly communicated to the server) and then taking so long to fix it was disappointing. I've been to other Hello Vietnam locations in the Valley, but last night I was picking up a prescription at the Walgreen's up the street when I decided to seek out somewhere for pho nearby. I ordered a chicken pho for take-out and it was exactly what I needed. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the broth soothing and delicious, and it came with all of the typical toppings. Next time, I'd probably order some extra veggies on the side, as well as their spring rolls. I will absolutely be back to this location and others for take-out or dine-in. read more

Since it was a rare colder day here in Phoenix, we were looking for something warm and pho sounded good. First, the ambiance of this place is cozy. I liked the basket chairs with the pillows. These tables sat two and we got the last one when we came on. Tuesday evening around 6. We ordered the combo vermicelli bowl and the rare steak and brisket pho. Both were okay. The vermicelli didn't look like rice noodles and tasted different than most vermicelli that we had. The egg rolls were average and were not as crispy as most other egg rolls that we had. The pho was just okay. The steak did not look rare when ai received the bowl but well done and were a bit chewy. The brisket was a little better but there wasn't much of that. But I grew up eating homemade pho from my mom and going to very good Vietnamese restaurants in California so it's hard to compare. Service was a bit slow but only saw two people working. read more

Food quality was good, though the flavor was underwhelming. Perhaps it is so based on the local Phoenix demographics' palettes? We ordered the lemongrass rib eye vermicelli. The rib eye itself was cooked medium and the ingredients tasted fresh, but we couldn't taste the lemongrass flavor. The accompanying sauce was inoffensive, however I prefer my fish sauces to pack a punch straight to my nostrils. The pork banh mi had good flavors, but not as good as the ones I've tried back to Southern California. The bread wasn't the standard crispy banh mi bread intended to wreck havoc your the roof of your mouthwith every bit. Instead, it was more of a hoagie type of bun - bigger and soft on the inside with a lighty toasted crunch. It's a different sandwich than a banh mi due to this bread, but the flavor of the pork was good. Pork belly spring rolls were good. Cute restaurant decor and service was good. There were only a couple servers who were making the drinks and getting everyone's orders out so we had a little wait to order, but food came out quick. The layout of the restaurant is very nice. You have normal tables as well as these comfier seats that will fit 2. The menu is pretty big so you have a lot of choices to pick from. I got the special pho and a winter melon milk tea with boba. The tea was good but was way too sweet. Would recommend to lessen the sweetness if you can. The pho was great overall. Broth was flavorful, meat tasted great. Only thing I wish is that the bowl came with either more meat or more noodles. When she says she has a craving for Hello Vietnam, I am now excited because there are several things on their extensive menu that I crave. We usually order the Salt & Pepper Calamari with the tangy side vegetables included. My other go to is the delicious (double meat) Lemon Grass Beef Sandwich on their crusty roll. ** My wife special orders the Chicken Pho, add veggies , no broccoli. She has me in "Pho training" and I am forced to taste the Pho, it is really savory and outstanding. Kids wanted photo and I was craving some grilled chicken and rice so we gave Hello Vietnam a try because it was in the neighborhood. I'll start w the pho. Off all the items that we tried - pho was probably the best. It was quite salty but my kids ate and enjoyed it so I was happy :) I also ordered the grilled chicken and steam rice. The chicken didn't appear to be grilled (tasted more like baked chicken and it had a sauce on it that doesn't taste like any grilled chicken that I had at a Vietnamese restaurant before. I cant explain it but it was a mix between coconut and lemon grass chicken. My dish was suppose to come with picked carrots, daikon, and typically come w fish sauce as well but it didn't so I was pretty disappointed. Would not recommend the grilled chicken and steamed rice. We also tried the chicken wings and spring rolls. We were pleasantly surprised by Hello Vietnam at this location. The dining room is very clean, spacious and comfortable. The wait staff were very friendly too. Most importantly, the pho broth was amazing. It had depth and perfectly soothing for that comfort food feel. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had lots of meat. Hubby was happy to find oxtail both in pho and spicy version. He chose spicy and really liked it but next time he'd like to try it in regular pho broth. The meat was fall off the bone tender served with thicker rice noodle. The spring roll was very fresh. We tried the lemongrass beef. Although the lemongrass flavor was very faint, the beef was substantial and delicious. We also had combination vermicelli togo. This was also very delicious, loaded with lots of protein and veggies. Hello Vietnam Dined many times at the location around Hayden and Tatum, happy for the location across the street from the old Paradise Valley Mall which is closer to home. Pho is always solid, as is the spring rolls and egg rolls. The vermicelli noodle bowls are a winner, I go with the caramelized pork or the lemongrass ribeye bowl. Can't go wrong with the banh mi sandwiches, again I go for the caramelized pork or the garlic shrimp sandwich. Very authentic Vietnamese prepared and recommend highly. Give this restaurant some business to keep it going, need these type of local Asian restaurants in the PV area. I had a quick lunch on Saturday at this adorable restaurant. The interior is so cute! Beautiful floral murals, bright colors and booths made from rattan baskets are very charming. Service is friendly but not always efficient. I tried the shrimp fresh rolls in rice paper wrappers. I asked for them to be served with fish sauce vinaigrette instead of the offered sweet chili or peanut sauces, and they were delicious. I also had the Hello Vietnam flavored wings, which is a chili oil savory slightly sweet sauce. Also delicious, but I would have preferred them to be slightly crispier. I had a hard time getting my check at the end of my meal, and my water glass was never refilled, or this might have been a five-star review. It was certainly a place that I will visit again, because I really would like to try the vermicelli bowl and compare it to some of my other favorite Vietnamese places. read more

I place the order, got the confirmation email, and was on my way to pick it up when I got a cancellation text and email from Yelp. I wondered if they were closed for Easter Sunday. When I got there, they were open, and I was told that they no longer participate in the Yelp online ordering. Have been waiting for this place to open and was so excited to come in for their grand opening! Beautiful interior with options of a table or some very cozy chairs with pillows. The food itself was absolutely amazing and delicious. I ordered the fresh spring rolls with shrimp to start off with and they tasted great. The peanut sauce provided was good, but was very peanut butter-y. I ordered the 'Special Pho' and my server explained it had steak, beef, and meatballs, but when I got it, I couldn't find the meatballs or steak. But, it wasn't an issue for me as I prefer simple beef pho, but definitely will ask for clarification next time. The pho broth itself was full of flavor and tasted fresh. The portion was a good size, as I wasn't able to finish it all. The strawberry lemonade also tasted fresh and paired well with my meal. The servers were also very sweet and nice. The downsides, my sriracha bottle hadn't been opened yet, so I had to figure out a way to open it myself. The service was a bit slow and it was hard to catch someone's attention for something, but I have hopes once they get up and running for a while, they will improve. I really like the inside of this place, they have some hanging chairs that may not be the best for eating pho but it changes things up and adds for a more memorable experience. The bowl of pho was really good, If I had to criticize I would say that there wasn't much meat. What was there was good. My favorite was the Thai Tea slushy, ice cubes take up so much space in the glass, finally someone just mixed those into the drink and it's extra good, feels like I'm getting more tea then usual.
