They simply offer everything I want. Subs, salads, pizza, strombolis, pasta... OH MAN. Those are the true five food groups right there. I wish I grew up in an Italian family so I could eat those ev day. So, what does Nino's do well? The chicken in their chicken pasta dishes i.e. Marsala and piccata. So juicy and tender. They pound it out, flour it up, and sauté it in a pan. Really locks in the juices. Love the fact that you can choose your pasta in each dish as well. They aren't forcing spaghetti down your throat. Go with whatever floats your boat - fettuccini, linguini, penne, rigatoni, ziti, or my personal favorite: angel hair. One bummer about the piccata - I had to add my capers and red pepper flakes. Ok, red pepper isn't required per se, but capers? That's a main ingredient, isn't it? Luckily I had a little jar in my fridge ready to go. Oh, and the Marsala sauce was kinda weak to be honest. Wasn't really enough sauce to cover all the pasta and what little sauce was there didn't have a whole lot of flavor. The Antipasto salad was good. Lots of meat. People who get Antipasto salads or chef salads of Italian salads get them for the meat. They want to eat lots of meat but give the appearance of eating healthy to onlookers because of the lettuce factor. "Hey chef, can you pile a huge mound of deli meat on top of a handful of lettuce to give the illusion that I'm eating healthy? Thanks!" Last but not least, we have Nino's Special pizza (pepperoni, sweet sausage, green pepper, mushrooms, onions and bacon). It was perfectly acceptable. The crust was thinner than I expected, but it had a nice crunch. And the mushrooms were canned. I suppose this is the norm? They used fresh mushrooms in the chicken marsala, but canned mushrooms as a pizza topping. Mushrooms don't have a long shelf life, so I can totally understand why they do this. Pasta dishes are a bit on the pricy side ($19 - $22), but they do come with a small salad and bread. So yeah, not gonna be an everyday lunch destination unless you've got Bezos money, but when I want to splurge after a day of hardship (i.e. going outside to get the mail), Nino's will be my reward.
