The good - great assortment of veggies and everything was crisp and fresh. The produce all looked beautiful (as you'd hope and expect from a salad joint). There are now three vegan protein choices (in addition to beans and veggies): falafel, tofu, and quinoa. The not so good - service is hit or miss, and the lunch lines are long. Dinner time is a better time to try it; store was almost empty. Note to vegetarians re the soups: only the tomato basil is vegetarian, and it's not vegan. Best salad bar and wraps hands down! There are so many toppings to choose from, and you build your own salad or wrap. It's a little expensive for a salad, but the wrap and pita chips combo is a great deal. This is what I normally get for lunch. I love getting the salata mix salad, chipotle chicken, the different toppings, with ginger lime dressing wrapped in the southwest tortilla. Its so delicious, filling, fresh, and flavorful. It's a lot of food, but I don't feel guilty at all afterwards. And I finish it all, down to the last pita chip. It's really healthy if you choose the right toppings. I find myself craving this all the time! I work in Town Center, so it's really convenient. The place is really clean, lots of seating, fast and nice service. Salata is great!!! Always fresh, and so many choices! Everything you could possibly want on a salad. And then some. My favorite is adding the seafood mix (crab, shrimp, and I think lobster?) And I love the lemon dressing; so tangy, it really ties everything together! I've gone to 2 different ones in the downtown tunnels and to the one in the Energy Corridor. One of my favorite places! I love Salata. I never had a negative experience. I usually go to the one on Mason but I'm on bed rest and this location was closer to my S.O. at the time. I put in an online order and got my usual. When my S.O. brought my food it was completely wrong. I didn't get cranberries, no avocado, but was still charged the extra dollar, no beets, and they made my S.O. wait because they were out of pita chips, when I wanted the multigrain bread. On top of that they gave me herb vinagerette instead of the lemon vinagerette that I ordered. It was disgusting. My SO said the manager had an attitude and the crew looked like they didn't know what they were doing. I work in service, trust me its not that hard. Especially when it's the BYO line concept. I love eating at salata even though they are overly priced. The staff is very nice especially this African American lady! I am a regular so she always greets me and makes sure I am getting what I pay for. A few weeks ago I had a issue with the manager named Wayne. He is so rude and doesn't greet ANYBODY! Every time I walk into salata and see him, I get disgusted. I have complained to Corperate and clearly me complaining hasn't done anything because Wayne is still there. All they need is a new manager because Wayne is stingy and has terrible customer service. Other salata's do not do this. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I agree with most of the reviews. I frequent this location about twice a week and have never received a friendly Hello. I'm sure the manager, Wayne (i think that's his name), has a lot on his mind and is concerned with making profits for his business but I think a warm hello would go a long way (esp. if you recognize someone who constantly visits your store) The salad for one is already pricey and they are very restrictive on the portions so it would be nice to have a reason to go back. There's a reason why this is the lowest rating Salata in the Houston area. This was my first Salata I've ever visited, was always pleased with it, until I went to a different Salata. I noticed how STINGY, the manager/owner is. When I'm here, if I ask for apple slices, I swear I would get about 3 slices. The employees never speak English and just stare at you. Also when you get chicken, they give you about 3 pieces as well, for $3. When you go to another Salata, you get a handful of each ingredient you want, and two large scoops of chicken. Also other Salata's don't charge for extra dressing. The last time me and my girlfriend went, we were going to share a drink like always, because she barely drinks anything and we both get Coke. The manager told us, "you can't share drinks inside, I don't care what you do outside of here but not in here." I always go to this location and the food is good but there's a black gentleman who makes the salads completely stingy and only puts 4 pieces of each topping. I almost feel embarrassed to keep asking for more, but the guy doesn't feel embarrassed to add just a tiny quantity of each item. This location is no different than the rest, they all follow the same guiding principles: charge high but skimp as much as possible on the ingredients that make a filling meal. The concept is great and in this day and age where people are becoming more and more health conscious we need more places like this. If anything at least you get to watch your food being made. The ingredients are fresh and the options are great but of course anybody that charges more than $10 for a salad is a rip off but the convenience is always a plus for those of us that are too busy to make a salad at home with 10 different ingredients. From the couple of times I've eaten here the ginger lime dressing is great and their chipotle chicken is also awesome. I usually get something a little spicy to help boost metabolism. My only issue is if you get a regular size you should get more than 10 cubes of chicken and it also depends on who's making the salad, I don't like that that's a variable to how much protein or quanitiy of each topping you'll get. I almost wish they'd use measuring cups that they fill in front of you before they dump it in your salad so you don't feel like you got less than the person in front of you. All in all though great concept, friendly and patient staff for the most part. Would recommend this place to anybody that's being health conscious out there. Also, this location has a lot of indoor seating which is great compared to like their Med Center location. The owner of the restaurant, Wayne, has a terrible and disappointing attitude towards his employees and customers. I work in the offices above and have gone here several times. Over time the service has gotten increasingly worse with long wait times and poor customer service. It takes at least 25 minutes to go through the lines to get a salad. I have never seen Wayne try to increase efficiency here. There is only one cashier, maybe one or two people working the line and I see him walking around without taking an effort to help his staff or his customers. I've also noticed lately they have been giving a lot less portions of the various ingredients. If I'm paying $11 for a salad I would like to know I'm getting its worth. My latest experience was the worst. I along with several others ordered online. When we arrived with our receipts he said there were no orders and initially blamed our own systems. Finally he realized it was an error on his end. It took about 40 minutes to get my 1 salad while others had to wait over an hour and half. Not once while we were patiently waiting did he offer an apology or offered a courtesy drink or other item on the house. In fact he was yelling at his employees and showing us attitude. You could tell his employees had a negative attitude about him as they were constantly rolling their eyes at him. The fact is it was not their fault, or in fact anyone's fault. It was an error in his computer system which can be understandable however his approach towards everything was so distasteful every single person who was at the store at the time said they would not come back. I hope the owner Wayne reads this and recognizes his lofty attitude will get him nowhere in this business. Learn to appreciate and value your employees and customers and have enough humility to accept an error. You lost several loyal customers that day and will continue to with this so called "business model". While your product may be good, your service sucks and unfortunately for you your product is losing value as well. There are far more options for me to go to lunch and others have made that choice as well. I'm a big fan of salads and I read many positive reviews about this place, so I was excited to eat there. The employees weren't rude but they weren't friendly or helpful either. I ordered a small salad without any meat and paid $7. My husband ordered a small salad with bacon bits and avocado and was charged extra for both. They put very little dressing on my salad, which I did not know until I sat down to eat it, so parts of my salad were dry. The ingredients were pretty fresh, but for the price, I would much rather go to Sweet Tomatoes. Also, all of their dressings are housemade, so they may not have the dressing you want. My husband only uses Thousand Island, and they did not have anything similar to that. Based on Yelpers' suggestions, I did try the peach lemonade which was very good. read more

I am writing this review after giving Salata 4 tries because I love the idea, fresh ingredients with lots of options for a healthy lunch, however the customer service is so awful I need to say something. I see a lot of comments on here about the lines. The first time we went the line was very long and slow, about 15-20 mins. This was caused by being understaffed (seems to be a constant problem there) and employees that clearly were in no rush to serve their customers. The other issue was the staff not having a good grasp on English to the point where they were unable to understand which toppings we wanted. The next time we went we ordered online to avoid waiting in the slow line. I think the reason the employees lack customer service is the management. He acts like he is annoyed to be there. He straight out ignored me when I went to pick up a to-go order. The other big problem is quality control. We have gotten our wraps made with way too much dressing or like it was today where they didn't give us dressing at all. Going to the Sugarland Salata means there will ALWAYS be something wrong with your order. They will add ingredients that you didn't order or they will leave things you ordered out. This could stem from the language barrier but it is still disappointing. Other people have mentioned the parking; you will have to park in a parking garage and walk so it isn't ideal for pick up meals. I realize that it is a busy area but a parking spot reserved for takeout orders would definitely help. I can tell this place would be amazing if they could just get their act together, primarily the rude management. read more

The owner is completely rude there. The meat portions are half a spoon. You are literally paying extra to add a bite or two worth of meat. My husband placed an online order 30 minutes ahead of time and they promised it to be ready in 15 minutes. By the time he went to pick it up, the owner rudely said he didnt get a chance to make it. There was no one in the restaurant. What is even more worse is that he should have gotten to making the order right away, but he went ahead and and took care of 4 people who walked in. I have always thought this place was alright and then today happened. My mom has always wanted to try it so we finally went. She enjoyed her salad, mine was okay. They put way TOO much dressing. I would ask for a side of it instead, because honestly they put more than a ladle of it but of course they skimp out on veggies, how convenient. As my mom was enjoying her salad she bit into a sharp piece of plastic. I'm so mad that I didn't take a picture! But we were just upset at the time not thinking about taking a pic. I have been consistently eating at this Salata for over a year now. My husband and I actually LOVE Salata and the idea behind the franchise. It's brilliant really! A healthy alternative with plenty of different options. As a vegan, the fact that this location has tofu is wonderful, as there are far and few between options in this area for me specifically when in need of something healthy, light, and protein packed. So you might wonder why with all of these accolades I've given they are only receiving one star. This star is specific to this Salata location and specifically the manager. Both my husband and I (who used to get Salata 3 times a week) now only go once or twice a month and maybe even less than that. The manager lacks customer service. He is rude, non relational, and creates a negative vibe within his own establishment. I personally have loved the staff, I can't recall all of their names and several of them have disappeared ... I assume either quit or fired. Rosa, Cesar, and a lady she is Caribbean I believe have always been extremely friendly and upheld not only a professional atmosphere but also a courteous and customer service oriented one. The last 4 times that I have been in to this Salata the manager (I wish I could recall his name, Dave, maybe, middle aged guy) has been there. It's clear his staff feels uncomfortable, he seems to watch over them like a hawk ready to pounce the second they give one too many tomatoes. The last time I went and now refuse to return if he is there, I had to ask him 3 times for more tomatoes and literally, literally, when I asked for a "few" more he placed two more tomatoes on my salad. I joked saying, "wow, you really took a few literally" and he responded sternly that I could pay for more. Which I thought, well this is quite ironic, I'm paying for a salad, and you are trying to up charge me for my salad. Hmmmm... I can't believe that this was the business strategy when Salata first opened, nor can I imagine that this type of service is whats keeping other Salata's open and in business. Another time I got a salad he was in at the register recounting money that one of the workers had already counted while people stood in line. He asked her to specifically sort the money, again, the way that he wanted it. I was embarrassed for her, and thought it was completely unprofessional of him to treat an employee like that in front of several customers. He is quite crass so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. In conclusion, as a former loyal and I mean loyal customer, the managers presence casts a shadow over his own establishment. If he were wise he would fire his own self. He needs to learn relational skills if he plans to be on the front line with his team, if he even calls them that. Furthermore, if he is running a salad bar one should not up-charge people for simply wanting a decent sized salad. Your salads aren't cheap, and I am perfectly fine with paying for them, but make them worth every dollar that is spent. Lastly, if he so happens to be reading this, while you may not agree with what is said any great business owner and/or successful person knows that perception is reality. In your industry customer perception should become your reality. In my opinion, it would be wise to make some drastic changes in the ways that you run your business if you want for it to continue to be fruitful.
