This time we also ordered the cold noodles, and they were so good. I loved the chewy noodles with the vinegar and mustard. It was refreshing and full of flavor. We also shared the rabokki with rice cakes and instant noodles. It was good for sharing, but probably not something we'd order again over the other dishes. The service is always great too. The heat in SGV is no joke and definitely saps motivation to cook or be out, but I was looking for some cold noodles and came across A Ri Rang Tofu House. It's located along E Valley Blvd, in a small plaza with other businesses such as Melo Melo. You're lucky if you can find parking outside, but as it's summer and I wasn't trying to turn my car into an over, passed over that and parked in the underground part of the lot in the back. A Ri Rang is in the corner of the plaza opposite of Melo Melo. It's a decently sized space with a lot of tables, and friendly staff. It's a Korean Tofu house most similar to ones like BCD. It wasn't busy when we went around late afternoon (peak heat). I absolutely loved that as they sat us they provided a pitcher of what I think was iced barley tea. SO REFRESHING, and was much more satisfying than plain water. They had pitchers along the table near the back ready for customers. Loved that. The ladies serving and taking orders were nice and friendly. If you've never been A Ri Rang provide banchan (sides) similar to what you'd get at a KBBQ spot. No worries about eating it all, you can have it refilled. Each one hit as they were all cold side dishes from the crisp broccoli, to the cucumber and cabbage kimchi they were perfect. My bf and I ordered one Galbi and Naeng Myeon (cold noodles) combo, and a Bibim Naeng Myeon (spicy cold noodles). This hit so well, the Naeng Myeon was icy with ice chips through the broth keeping it cool. Topped with sliced daikon, cucumbers, half a boiled egg sprinkled with ground sesame seeds. And of course the chewy buckwheat noodle underneath, this dish was everything. The broth was light and tangy and savory. I added a little bit of the mustard and it added nice horse radishy note to the broth. The Bibim version was the same thing just with a spicy broth which was not extremely spicy but had a sweeter taste profile. The Galbi came on a bed of sliced onions on a sizzling plate. It was the perfect addition to share, charred crisp edges of meat, sweetly marinaded, it was delicious. I am definitely coming back in the cooler months to try their tofu soups. They give you a decent spread of banchan including kimchi, brocoli, potato salad, fish cakes, and seaweed. I also like that the rice comes out in a stone pot so I get some of that scorched rice. We both ordered the lunch combination, which included a main dish and a tofu soup. I ordered the C1 Galbi Tofu Combination ($33.99) with the Seafood Tofu Soup. The staff kindly asked if I wanted an egg added, and instead of giving it to me, they added it to the soup. The Seafood Tofu Soup was pretty good, with a nice amount of tofu, clams, and shrimp. The Galbi was better than expected; the meat was tender, not overly sweet, and cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the C8 Dolsot Bibimbap Tofu Combination ($26.99) and chose the dumpling tofu soup, which the staff recommended as a popular choice. We thought the dumpling tofu soup, filled with vegetables, was only okay. I didn't try the Bibimbap, but my wife said it was pretty good. A Ri Rang Tofu House is a solid option for Korean food in SGV, but if you're seeking a more authentic experience, I recommend making the drive to K-Town, as there are better tofu houses there. A Ri Rang has been one of my staples when it comes to Korean tofu houses. From years of dining here, they've always been consistent. Side dishes are plentiful and are refilled for free when requested. Standout side dish is most definitely the fish cake, but recently, the seasoned cucumber is certainly a dark horse with the sweet flavoring. You can't really go wrong with any menu choice. While this is a tofu house, I highly recommend the galbitang (beef short rib soup) and the seafood pancake. My go to menu here is the C7 combo, (tofu soup of your choice + bibimbap) You can share this combo with another person as it's very fulfilling (mostly because of the side dishes crave). Nonetheless, the amount of assorted ingredients added into the bibimbap is phenomenal. It's spectacular with how many flavors you can get from such a detailed dish. While I'm not a fan of spicy food, my wife likes the tofu soup a bit mild, which is quite perfect in my opinion as it's a perfect balance between spice (very little) and the flavoring of the soup broth. Interior is clean and spacious, very much a comfortable vibe when dining in. Parking is free, moderate amount on ground level but plenty in a underground lot. A Ri Rang is always one of my top choices whenever I'm craving Korean food and they've never disappoint. Love the consistency of the food, very high quality and affordable. I didn't have high expectations since they specialize in tofu soup, not galbi tang. Food came out pretty quick despite the variety of foods we ordered (tteobokki, galbi tang, tofu soup, kimchi fried rice). The side dishes are consistent and still delicious and filling. Always appreciate the free refills. One of the waitresses hovered over my friend while he was signing the check and deciding on tip so he felt kind of pressured and rushed. One star off for this. I've been coming to A Ri Rang with my family for more than 2 years now. It always hits the spot! First of all, service is wonderful. The workers here know how to hustle and are always a step ahead with refills of waters, side dishes, or additional utensils and plates. So much variety and everything tastes amazing! Broccoli, kimchi, spicy cucumbers, bean sprouts, mashed potatoes, seaweed, konjac jelly, and fish cake. Just a great selection and free refills! Love that they aren't stingy about the side dishes like other restaurants. My go to is the Seafood Tofu Soup Mild & Galbi Combo. It's around $35 but the portion can feed 2 people. It comes with stone pot rice, which I LOVE because there's crispy rice at the bottom. My soup came out piping hot and had lots of seafood flavor in it. Generous amounts of clam and shrimp, too! Egg is included within the soup. The galbi is well marinated with a subtle sweetness to it. What I love about this place is that the portion size is so worth it. I know a lot of Korean restaurants that will purposely serve a smaller portion of the soondubu when people order combos. Not this place! They will give you the original sized tofu soup which is why the combo is so worth it! I've also tried their japchae before which was extremely flavorful and savory while not tasting too heavy. It's super spacious, the service is fast, and we got seated pretty quickly this time (the 1st visit with my boyfriend we had a small wait). I highly recommend getting one of the combo meals. You get to pick your protein plus a tofu soup of your choice, choose your spice level, and it comes with your own stone pot rice. Such a good deal. The banchan is fresh, generous portions, and they refill it fast once you're running low. The staff is definitely attentive and you 100% get your money's worth. My only small complaint was checkout. I'm not quite sure why this place has such high reviews for a korean spot. The service was lacking for a pretty empty restrauant at the time. I had to wave them servers down whenever I needed something or wanted a refill on the banchan. There were multiple servers just standing there looking at the entrance door. In terms of food, I got the kimchi soondubu with spicy chicken, Rabokki, and cold noodles. The cold noodles and soondubu were decent but, the egg was already placed inside the boiling soondubu stone pot so the egg yolk was cooked well done (not a preference of mine) . The spicy chicken had flavor but was very oily. My main disappointment was with the Rabokki, a huge FAIL. There was absolute NO flavor and poor spice level, barely any tteobokki, and too much cabbage. In terms of their banchan, the fish cakes were probably the best tasting. The seaweed and bean sprouts weren't too bad but, their kimchi cabbage and cucumber were lacking so much flavor and fermentation. I've been here twice and was let down both times. read more

Not bland enough to be pure water, like I'm sure there's dashi/broth/soup base in there, but it was really watery and just not super flavorful. Bulgogi-- No complaints! Pretty good, surprisingly not super sugary sweet like some other places. Banchan-- This is where you know the place isn't authentic because the banchan was not banchan-ing. Kimchi was bland, cucumber was RAW mixed in sweet sauce (not pickled at all), bean sprouts also bland and not the typical soy sauce/sesame oil flavoring you think of (idk what they used but I didn't like it). The second combo was a seafood beef tofu with dalsot bibimbap, the bibimbap was solid and had a nice variety of veggies! The last tofu soup was seafood beef, all the tofu soups had a nice flavor and came with a lot of filling. I prefer the seafood ones as they had more flavor. Every time I visit, I end up being served by the same tall, slim blonde server, and unfortunately, my experience with her has consistently been unpleasant. She often places items on the table carelessly, speaks with an attitude, and only seems friendly when it comes to receiving a tip. Whenever I ask for something, she acts as though it's an inconvenience. I also saw her eating Bonchon in front of customers and then serving food immediately afterward. I couldn't tell if it was her own meal or a customer's order, but either way, it didn't come across as professional or sanitary. I'm not sure why this behavior continues, but it creates a very different experience compared to the rest of the staff. Every other server I've encountered has been kind, attentive, and welcoming. My family and I come here at least twice a year during the holiday times. Yes they are open on Thanksgiving and Christmas! I think this place is solid for what it offer. Korean tofu soup and other Korean comfort dishes. Staff and servers are friendly and efficient. You get seated right away if there is no wait. Usually there isn't as the place is pretty large with ample amount of seating. Good for big groups! Food is solid/decent. It's not super amazing but it will satisfy the cravings. Side dishes/banchan are delicious and they have a good variety (free refills on them too!). Korean tofu soup - seafood and beef. I think this could be Bette tin terms of flavor. The last few times I've had it, I don't taste the broth flavor - seems a bit bland. Galbi - flavor is good. I will always say that I wish there was more than 6 pieces with bones. It's good tho! Rabokki - ramen and rice cakes. It looks extremely spicy but it's not too bad in terms of spice. It's a good dish to mix of flavors from soup and meat. Seafood pancake - this is def one of their best dishes. It's thick, filled with seafood (shrimp, octopus, green onion, idk what else) but it's fluffy and crunchy at the same time. TOGO; NOT SATISFYING I've ordered here a few times now, always hoping it'll be better but no. I do not recommend the rabokki order at all. There were literally less than 10 rice cakes in the dish and so much onions. Crazy that the dubokki is $21; the flavor is quite bland. We also got the spicy pork which is good but for $32?!
