We've been to Sally's 4 times now, and tonight will be the last. Ambiance: okay, a little loud, which is fine. Restaurant is clean and modern. Pizza: just okay. Really nothing to rave about. It's a little off-putting that the bottom can be so burnt (charcoal comes off on your fingers) and yet so wet/floppy. The taste isn't that great either. If it was amazing maybe I'd come back, but for subpar pizza plus the incredibly long wait time (see below) it's just not worth it. Service: good. The waiters were very nice, though I noticed they were running around. Seems there's not enough of them to cover the whole restaurant, so our waiter only checked in maybe twice the whole nearly 2 hours we were there. Which brings me to my final point, which honestly is the biggest and the reason we won't be returning. The wait time. It takes SO LONG to get your pizza. And I'm not just talking on a weekend, weekdays are the same. Specifically, tonight (Sunday) we came in at 8:15pm. Sat immediately, since it was so late on a Sunday and there were several tables empty. We ordered everything at once (since we knew it took so long the last 3 times we were there). The waiter (this must be in their script now) said "just so you know, pizzas are taking about 45 min now". Ok, we were hoping this time would be different since it was so late on a Sunday evening, but fine, no problem. An HOUR and TWENTY minutes later our pizza FINALLY comes out. And again, as if scripted, the waiter says "sorry about the long wait". I don't understand why Sally's continues to seat so many people at once, when there is always, without fail, a very long backlog for Pizzas. This is not an isolated thing, it's not like they were having a bad night. 4/4 times we've been here we've had to wait more than 45 minutes after ordering for 1 large pizza to come out. This time, at 1:20 min, was the last straw. Either the solution is to increase the capacity to make Pizzas, or decrease the amount of tables you seat, but it should not take that long for a pizza to be made after ordering. read more

Service was terrible- wasn't even that busy. Asked for one large pie- it took over 45 minutes to get it to us. Server forgot to place order because several guests who arrived after us got their pizzas. What added insult to injury was that they finally brought out a small or medium pie and the manger herself lied about it being a large! It was extremely inedible, burnt to a crisp. Best pizza I've had ever. Sauce was tangy and cheese and pepperoni were plentiful. Love the crispy charred crust so much better than the any like it I've tried. Can't wait to try other items on menu though pizza was so good going to be hard for other menu items to live up to. Their overall food was delicious, and the pizza was phenomenal. It isn't your typical regular pizza, so expect to try something new. Really poor /confused planning for the plaza overall. This isn't really a walking area, but it's kind of laid out that way - yet very few spots available with lots of driving around. 3. I'm a pizza lover. Italian, Greek, Bar Style, all pizza. I was looking forward to trying Sally's Apizza. I waited until it was no longer difficult to get in because we had heard there were lines. We went tonight. No lines. Not overly busy. We ordered a large tomato and cheese pie, and a wedge salad. First came the salad. It was delicious! The waitress explained that the standard dressing on this salad was pepperoni Parmesan peppercorn. She said it was delicious. She wasn't wrong. The salad had fire roasted tomatoes. Yum! Next came the pizza. Not great. It was burnt. The crust was inedible. It did not have enough cheese. And the cheese was burnt too. It was ok pizza. Just ok. I really hoped we'd love this pizza and I think I will try it again. Next time I will order it less charred, with more cheese. I will definitely get that wedge salad again. Will travel for great pizza! My husband and I have been on a pizza odyssey. Experiencing the best pizza we can find. Sally's Apizza in Woburn didn't disappoint. We haven't yet experienced the original Sally's in New Haven as it was closed for annual maintenance in January when we tried to go (did get pizza from Frank Pepe's and Modern Apizza while there, as well a couple highly regarded places in NYC). So I can't compare to the original shoppe. The Woburn location is more upscale than the New Haven location. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were wonderful! It was apparent that quality of service is of high value in the company. BTW, love that they set up your pizza(s) on a stand beside your table. Makes dining so much more enjoyable when you have space for your plates and beverages. We drove over 90 minutes last night, just to experience the coal fired oven pizza at Sally's. Ordered the classic cheese and tomato sauce pie. It was excellent. My personal preference in a Neapolitan style pizza is just a little more cheese. But this was delicious. The crust was crisp and had that lovely char we look for. The sauce had a nice fresh tomato flavor. We also ordered the potato pie with onion and rosemary. OMG! It was as delicious as it looks! And made for fantastic breakfast reheated with an over easy egg on top. AND, we ordered the seasonal pie, the Spring Fling: Snap peas, pancetta, egg yolk, and pea tendrils. Another fantastic combo! We came home with a LOT of leftover pizza and are glad to have it for the week as pizza like this is hard to come by where we live in NH. It was well worth the intensive workout and fasting earlier in the day in preparation for this feast! I think you either love it or hate it. I got a VERY expensive large pepperoni which is about the size of a medium pizza, sauce is bitter and acidic and I'm not a fan of that burn charcoal taste it's just too much I felt like all I could taste was burnt black stuff even my fingers had black residue on them it over powered the pizza . It would cost me $100 to feed my family of 4 at this place with the cost and size of the pizza even if we did like it. read more

I am truly sad about this review. My husband and I were waiting a long time for this restaurant to open, nearly a year it seemed. My husband went in to order a take out pizza shortly after the opening. He was told to come back after 9pm. He was there very early and the place was empty, but OK - growing pains he figured. No problem. He tried again a couple of weeks later and was able to order. He waited over an hour and when he got the pizza home, we both eagerly took a slice and a bite and both spit it out. The pizza wasn't just burned on the bottom, it was incinerated. Our hands were covered in soot. (See photos) It's not healthy to eat charcoal. I called the very wonderful store manager who said she would comp the pizza when we came in next and that the coal fired ovens were a little hard to regulate, but something clearly had gone wrong in the kitchen. OK again. Things happen. But there should be someone doing quality control in the kitchen to make sure that food like this never gets out the door. Tonight my husband went to get the replacement pizza and an order of meatballs. The 4 meatballs were very small and expensive, but really delicious. The pizza was burnt again, but not as bad as the first time. I am used to a crisp coal fired pizza. There is a great place in Waltham we used to frequent before Covid and of course, Anthony's is also consistently good. I even cook my homemade pizzas on the grill. So we're not namby-pamby pizza people. But this pizza was cold, thin, dry and leathery and the sauce and cheese tasteless and non-existent. The only real flavor came from the "char" on the pizza, which left a bitter taste, reminiscent of burnt toast. I ate one small slice without the burnt crust. My husband ate two small pieces and we threw the rest away. He will even eat cold pizza for breakfast so this is a first! I would like to try this again because I have heard people rave about it. But I will give them time to get themselves sorted. I think the manager is doing her best to keep this all together, but something is wrong on a very basic level. There are a lot of really excellent pizza restaurants all around Woburn and I am concerned that once the newness wears off, people will just go elsewhere. I hope someone from Corporate comes up to try and fix the issues here. Maybe there aren't enough ovens or the ovens aren't calibrated? Who knows, but they can't keep this up. The manager Joshua is awesome. His care for us when we were there and the overall experience of the restaurant were 10/10. The pizza though. The pizza was something else. Their online operations are not up yet. Their phone systems are down. There was a queue out the door around the corner as they opened at 5:00pm this evening. The poor people in front me waited in line only to finally get up to a hostess blocking the entrance who turned them away. Apparently they're only allowing reservations into the restaurant for the entire evening. I went in to place a take out order and was told that my pizza wouldn't be ready until 7:30pm but if I wanted faster service I could "try" to find a seat at the bar and order from there and it would come out sooner. Are you joking #rickyconsiglio? Get a hold of your space and your staff. Maybe you need a bigger pizza oven to accommodate the amount of pizzas that are being ordered or maybe you need better systems in place or maybe you need to train your staff better. As someone who has managed restaurants for over two decades I can't believe the horrendous way they're operating and managing customers. It's embarrassing. In the nearly 3 HOURS when I get my pizza, I'll update the review. Update: came back to collect my pizza promptly at 7:30 as they instructed... it's now 7:45.... This stunad behind the desk clearly just fired it only after I came back to pickup. As for the mushroom pizza that I ordered... well, the first thing that jumps out at you is the sauce- it's thick like tomato paste and has a strong oregano flavor. Maybe tomato paste works on a Chicago style pizza but it doesn't work on thin crust pizza. Not to mention your cooks burned the hell out of it. Went here for an early dinner with my bf. We ordered one pizza pie (standard tomato with cheese), the arancini, and the olive oil cake. The best dish was the arancini by far. It was fried just right with the inside of the arancini still nice and gooey. The crème sauce also helped elevate the dish, no crumbs were left behind. The pizza, now, I know there's this certain type of pizza that's known to have burnt crust and it adds some extra earthiness or bitterness or whatever and people like that but like ima be honest....our pizza was just burnt. Like the crust was pure black on some slices and our fingers and faces were covered in burnt crust ash. If you like pizza like that, then like by all means, it's a great pizza. I just didn't enjoy it that much. The olive cake was ok. It was really dense and I thought it'd be more light/fluffy. The fruit on top was a little too sour and clashed with the taste of the cake. Sally's saved us! I had a cranky teenager who was Hangry! I didn't want to hear anything else he had to say so I made a bee line to Sally's! We had to wait a bit and the mozzarella triangles were just so-so. We went with the standard large pepperoni and we both really liked it. We've never had New Haven style but I'm a fan of it. Son's attitude changed after he ate most of the pizza which was good for him because he about to walk back to the hotel by himself. Sally's Apizza saved him from getting exercise! First time here and first experience with New Haven style pizza. The bartender filled me in on the style of pizza and how just tomato sauce no cheese is a thing and that's what I ordered. Wouldn't do it again-- while the sauce is super tasty it's sloppier and I just missed the cheese. The appeal of it was lost on me. Nice thin crust cooked well. Service at the bar was pleasant, but the wait seemed unreasonable. Forty minutes when I arrived at around 11:45am and the restaurant was mostly empty. I need to defend Sally's slightly as we made our first visit on Friday night and were totally pleased with everything (except the cost, but more on that later). First off, everyone is complaining about the lines and wait time for a table/take out. You all need to get a grip. This is the 2nd New Haven style pizza place to open in this state, never mind it was highly anticipated and the opening slow to happen. We all saw the build slowly take place while dropping our spouses off at HomeGoods and going to get 4 beers at Tavern while waiting for them to come out with 5 new candles for the house. All while speculating, did they run out of money? Is this a front for an underground gambling ring? What is going on? They finally open 2 weeks before Christmas when the world is on vacation, and then everyone complains it's too busy. They can't win either way. You don't want to wait in line? Use your brain like a smart person (myself) and make a reservation. Then you walk in 5 minutes before your reservation and you sit down. Its almost like magic how it works. But no, lets complain instead. As a slight history lesson, there was lines for weeks whenever a new place opens around here that is in another state that we previously didn't have. Frank Pepe's, Sonic, Five Guys, Chick-Fil-A, Shake Shack, Kane's. All had lines out the door when they first opened. And yes, they were even slow in serving until they got their feet under them. Its called "opening a restaurant". Secondly, the complaining about the wait time for food. We were informed the second we sat down it would be around 45 minutes for pizza. I asked about times for drinks and apps, and was told it was way quicker. So we placed our order a few minutes later and sure enough, 10 minutes passes and here comes the apps and salads. If you are complaining about waiting 45 minutes for main courses, you need to go to Dennys for the $7.99 Grand Slam and realize that real restaurants just aren't for you. From arrival to check paying was an hour and a half. If that is too long for a full dinner and drinks, then google the nearest Mc'ds. Finally, the food. Very very good. We started with the wings and Caeser salads. Salads were dressed nicely, not too much. Good flavor to the dressing, not too much garlic which can be the case with some Caeser's. But the star here was the wings. Fall off the bone, slight spice to them. Really some of the best I have had. Up there in my mind with Smoke Shop, Sam Walkers or Red Heat wings. For pizza, we got the Tomato and Mozz as well as a Firebird. Both really good. The Mozz could have used a little more cheese, but was delicious. The Firebird had a kick to it and was slightly sweet. Very good as well. Yes the crust has a char to it, and yes some pieces of crust you don't eat because they are a little burnt, but news flash: THIS IS NEW HAVEN STYLE PIZZA. If you don't like char, go to your mailbox and grab the paper menu from the local (Insert Greek name here) House of Pizza, grab your Bounty to soak up all the grease, and dig in. You might even get an order of frozen wing dings too for free if you order more than $35. My only complaint: The price. $173 for 4 Titos, 3 Lite's, 2 Caesers, Wings, Large Mozz, Small Firebird. Was it $30 more than I expected? Yes. Will it stop be from going back again? No chance in hell. We definitely over ordered but wanted to try a few things. We could have had 1 salad and just the large pizza was enough for 3 people. I came home with around 6 slices. So mostly our fault for ordering a lot, but its only money. I went to the Woburn location last night with my wife because I got an email from them advertising a 'Tuesday Special' (1 app, 2 entrees, 1 dessert for $38). I've been there multiple times before for pizza but never had their entrees. There was no mention on the menu about the Tuesday Special so when we told our waitress we were going to order that she looked confused and said she'd be right back because that was a new special and she thought it was only for take-out. She came back 5 minutes later and informed us that in fact it was only for take-out. I pulled the email up on my phone which clearly stated that it was good for dine-in, take-out, as well as delivery. She took our drink order and returned 5 minutes later to take our food order. She said we could order the Tuesday Special but that they were out of the eggplant Parm (not sure how you run out of eggplant Parm before 5:00 but I digress). That left us with 2 options for entrees with the Tuesday Special. I ordered the chicken Parm and my wife ordered the Chicken Francese. The waitress then informed my wife that she thinks they were out of the chicken Francese (leaving only chicken Parm as an entree option). She returned 5 minutes later with my drink but ran away so quick I did not get the chance to ask about the chicken Francese. She returned after ANOTHER 5 minutes to tell us that they were also out of chicken Francese. At this point we walked out NEVER to return again! We eat out multiple times a week and this was just about the worst 'dining experience' of my life. We went across the street to The Chateau and had a wonderful meal (which included the option of buying a cold dinner for the next day's lunch for a mere $7.99)! read more

For two days i have been trying to place a pickup order either online or on the phone. The website wont let me place any order for any time and when i called i did exactly at 4:45pm and was placed in a queue. 15 minutes later in the queue the phone went to a voicemail system telling me all the workers were busy. I know this location is busy but this is frustrating. I wish they made it more clear on the best way to order cause right now the system they have clearly doesn't work. Haven't tried their pizzas yet at all but "if" the chance actually comes i will update this review. So far, 1 star for the chaotic and unorganized ordering system. read more

I had the pleasure of experiencing excellent service from two friendly bartenders, Dina and Danny. These two cool ladies not only provided top-notch hospitality but also showcased their impressive mixology skills. The cocktails they crafted, Hugo and Sicilian Margarita, were absolute perfection. Dina and Danny attention to detail and friendly demeanor make for such an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend sitting at the bar to receive VIP service from these ladies.
