Kai Evelyn literally saved my life !! Here's what happened - I went to another salon the day before my birthday . Asking for light brown highlights. It turned out pretty blond with some green and gray in it , it was horrible !! So normally I would have just worn a hat and try to get an appointment somewhere else asap . But since it was my birthday the next day it was even more dramatic. So that's why I went to the next CVS and just decided to buy a coloration and just dye brown all over . What can I say , it was better then before but still a mess . So because of a recommendation I went into [salon] 718 on Monday .Pretty spontaneous just to ask for an appointment. 5 minutes later I already sat in one of their chairs and Kai was taking a look at my messed up hair . She recommended a gloss since my hair had to suffer so much. We choose the color togheter , she was very friendly and took really good care of me and my hair . She also gave me tips how to take care of my hair in the future .And most important my hair were beautiful again when we were done . Which makes me more than happy .. After walking by the Dekalb location many times and liking the vibe, i decided to give Salon 718 a try. It was well worth it. SUNSHINE and everyone else there is friendly, attentive, and while casual know exactly what they are doing. Since then I've become a regular. I tend to go to the Vanderbilt one because it's closer to me. I've really connected with KARINA on cut and color. She is great with both and a quick study with what works with your personality and style. She also is honest about what will work or not if you have an idea you're going for. (I usually bring pics of what i want to experiment with when i come in). And she'll work with you to land on a style that's in the vein you were looking for but makes sure it's wearable/ works with your hair. I've worn lots of very different long and short styles over the years. If I'm not feeling the person gets me, I can get very on edgy and really monitor the cutting. I never have that issue here. I just let her do her thing and most of the time end up napping I'm so relaxed. Appts. are pretty easy to make and manage and the treatments seem to take less time than at other places. Those of you with long hair, long layers, and long on reasons to be careful about choosing a stylist, Karina and Salon 718 are for you. Hands down, the best haircut I've had in the past year. Thank you, Karina, for easing me into a potential new stylist relationship. After my longtime, trusted stylist retired a year ago, I had experienced a series of so-so cuts and one pretty terrible experience, so I was understandably a bit hesitant to go under the scissors again. Karina talked me through each stage of the cut. She asked thoughtful questions. She knew my hair type (lots of hair but thin hair) and made suggestions based on this knowledge and a careful examination of my hair's current state; there was some damage from perpetual ponytails. I was immensely impressed with both her approach and the final result. Salon718 on Vanderbilt was clean and welcoming. The staff, too, were friendly and highly professional. Just came back from an appointment at Salon 718 and I can't say enough good things about the salon and my Hair Stylist, Karina. She's fabulous! I first went to the salon about 6 weeks ago when I was at my wits end. I was really unhappy with my prior salon. My color was a mess and my hair was incredibly brittle and dry. Karina fixed my color gave me a great treatment and made my naturally curly locks look great. Today I asked her to straighten my hair and she did an even better job! Karina can do it all - honestly! To round things out, I also have to say that everyone at the salon is absolutely lovely. So warm, friendly and eager to make your appointment a truly pleasant experience. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY HAIR!!! The staff are so friendly and accommodating! Such a nice team coming from someone who has been in the hair industry for years. After finding them on Facebook and Instagram, I determined I wanted to see Jenn. I was really hesistant of going light because I've been dark for so long and I'm really low maintenance. Jenn gave me exactly what I wanted! Balyage highlights that are absolutely effortless and allows me to have the perfect balance of still being dark and having a new style. I had a more than delightful experience at Salon 718. New to the Brooklyn community I consulted Yelp for a recommendation to get a fresh trim and thus I founded Jonathan. Jonathan was as personable as it gets. He was attentive and tended to my hair with care and consideration of its past. He recommended the right treatments and appropriate trim length based on what my future goals were for my hair. I also received the best shampooing of my life from Tiffani. Seriously, I was in heaven from that scalp massage. I highly recommend this salon not only for it's comfort and lovely stylists, but for the beautiful hair the comes out of a session there. Hands down my favorite salon anywhere! I have thick, dark, curly hair and a lot of it and Karina has taken me through great cuts with short hair, in-between lengths while growing it out and now long hair as well as highlights that are so natural people think they are! I've been going here for over four years and while I'm very loyal to Karina I can say that the other stylists are very talented as well... Plus they're all just cool people :-) Great quality for great prices and personality that's rare in a high-end salon these days. This salon is great. It feels comfortable, is very clean, the staff is great, and the vibe is on point. All the stylists seem great, but I always go to Eddie. Eddie is the best. Quality cuts & treatments at this chic Brooklyn find! Was greeted with a smile and fresh lemon water upon arrival. Saw Eddie for a Loreal shine treatment & a Kerastase gloss, fierce blowout and straightening! The glass of Rose was extra nice. The music was great! The service and services are awesome.
