I have been a client of Erin A. for many years so of course I had to follow her to the new location in Oakbrook. I love the location and the space! It's very minimal with a little bling making a great place for an event or party. I like clean salons where the clutter is mostly put away and out of sight and Salon Hype has certainly done this in the Oakbrook location. They host a very attractive color bar as well as lit displays of top notch products. Staff are polite and accommodating with refreshments, coffee, and snacks. I should also mention that the stylist chairs are the most comfortable I have ever sat in. Erin is by far the most fun stylist I have ever had. You will usually see me completely cracking up while she is doing my hair. I bring my children with me pretty regularly and she will cut their hair while my color is setting. She always engages with them and she and the staff make them feel comfortable and welcomed. They love going with me to see her. Her technical skills are amazing and I always leave with beautiful hair. I can give her a high level idea of what I want and I can completely trust her to pull it off. Sometimes I just tell her to do whatever she thinks will look best and I get great results. She has a good sense of what will work for my fine, thin hair. I often schedule a cut, color and highlights and Erin will let me know if I'm going overboard or if I should wait on one of them. She never pushes extra services or products and makes sure I get what I need and nothing I don't. I couldn't sing her praises more! Book an appointment and see for yourself. I've been going to Morgan for about 2 years now and I could not be happier! When they say she's the blondologist, they are NOT joking! I'm naturally a dishwater blonde/dirty blonde and currently I'm an ashy/icy blonde...let me tell you, everyone thinks it's my natural color! Her skill set and passion about her career is unmeasurable. She is personable and strives to make your experience the best possible! You could see her once a year and she would remember your name and what you talked about at your last visit. She treats you as if you are her only client, really as if you were apart of her family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone. She's amazing and a great asset to Salon Hype! With that being said, everyone I encounter that works at Salon Hype is amazing. Every time I come in, I'm greeted with a smile, a big hello and "it's great to see you again, Kelly!" If Morgan wasn't available, I would feel comfortable enough to have another one of the girls to work on my hair. Found this place via Yelp and figured I'd give it a try, despite most of the reviews talking about blonde hair/going blonde (I'm Asian and have black hair!) I had an amazing salon experience with Erin A - this was my first time at Salon Hype AND first time ever dying my hair. Had no idea what the dying process would be like, but it ended up being very straightforward. I literally called to schedule an appointment for a haircut and partial highlights and got in the next day. I basically told Erin that I wanted a few inches off my hair, and to add some dimension to my hair through subtle coloring. She immediately knew exactly what would look great and recommended very subtle chocolate-brown highlights, and to cut just enough to keep my hair long--basically everything she said I was 100% on board with. The appointment took about 2.5 hours and I walked out super super happy. I'm a transplant from the East Coast and I haven't had a lot of time since I moved here to get my hair styled. I had the pleasure last night of having my hair cut and colored by Jordan Perry. I haven't been this happy with a style in such a long time! His work is amazing! He didn't try to sell me on a style that wasn't fitting for me. I'm a ponytail kind of gal and didn't want my cut and color to be too trendy. He asked great questions about my everyday life and routine, actually examined my hair and was dead on his analysis. He is really kind, polite, professional and meticulous. He clearly loves what he does and wants to do an excellent job. I am so happy! My hair feels so healthy for the first time since I moved here (my towns water is very hard) the color is more than I expected and the cut was just what I needed. I had super fine, super thick, super unruly mid-arm length hair. I wanted to finally change from box golden blonde to a more skin complementing, professional, natural looking blonde. Erin was amazing, she toned down the old color and did superfine foils. The cut was amazing and gave my usual "poodle ear" locks great movement and style and the color worked so much better with my skin tone. Then I decided I wanted to go short, super short! I took in a few pictures and Erin rocked a custom Ruby Rose-esque cut in front of a salon full of onlookers! It was drama in the making and I haven't stopped smiling since! Especially since people have started carding me again. ;) I just went for my first touch up cut and more foils and she tweaked the cut just right, it has amazing movement, style, and flexibility. Okay so this place is awesome! First off, the salon is clean and stylish. Erin A always takes care of me. She goes above and beyond to try to help you decide what will work and what might not. I have super fine, dirty blond blah hair, that can't hold any color but blond highlights, and she has only helped me get my hair on track to looking full and healthy to the best of its ability. When I luckily ran into her about two years ago my hair was FRIED!!! I have come a long way from there just by taking her advice. I cannot see myself going to anyone else. A little plus is she is a hard worker who is flexible and willing to fit you in on your schedule or needs. She loves her job and you can tell. Oh! I have been getting my hair done in the city for years. I had it in my head that great hair comes from the big cities but I was never fully satisfied with my color or cut! I was just paying for location and salon status! Untillll... I started coming to Salon Hype! I do all of my shopping and errands in Oakbrook, and I can't get over how convenient the location is! It takes me 25 min from the city and is right off the highway! I have even called for a short notice brow wax- and they totally accommodated me! Kaylynn is amazing at brows!! Everyone is so friendly and makes me feel so comfortable!! Salon Hype is the best! I have been lucky enough to have Ross as my hair stylist for over 25 years, originally on the north side of Chicago and then following him to Lagrange and now Oak Brook. I always receive high praise from business associates, friends and neighbors after getting my hair colored, cut and blown dry, which is why I am willing to drive from 30 minutes away to get my hair styled. He is a true artist. He and his wife, Carissa, make a great team to ensure that I receive great service and walk out completely happy with my experience. This is by far the best salon in the area! I came in from out of town for a long weekend and heard through the grapevine of a salon that recently opened in Oak Brook. I decided to give it a try and let me just say, they did not disappoint! The service was outstanding from the minute I walked in the door to the minute I said thank you and walked out. Ross and Morgan have completely transformed my hair. Ross is amazing with styling thick, coarse hair. He has given my hair the shape I've always wanted but never thought was possible with human hands. Morgan has brought my color back to life. Went to Salon Hype for the first time today. Because of Rachel, I left with the best cut and color I've ever gotten. I've been looking for a great stylist for years and never was fully satisfied before today. She knew exactly how to cut my very thick and long hair so it would have more volume but feel so much lighter, while keeping the length. My phone died before I arrived so I couldn't show her a picture of the color I wanted, but just by explaining I needed cooler tones because of my orange/red skin tone she knew exactly what color to use. Jordan is my hair's hero! When I first started going to Jordan my hair was violet-red and I was trying without success to get back to a neutral brunette. He came up with a plan for my hair and laid out all of the steps he was going to take and why he was choosing each of those steps. Now I have beautiful and shiny brunette hair! He is extremely knowledgeable about hair and takes his client's wants very seriously. His blow dries are also out of this world(be prepared to leave the salon looking like a MODEL). Just stopped by Salon Hype for the first time a few days ago and had an amazing experience. My stylist was Kate and I highly recommend her. She was very personable and professional, not to mention talented. She somehow managed to fix my color that had been previously ruined by other salons, and on top of fixing my hair she listened to me and gave me what I wanted( which Ive found surprisingly very rare from stylists). Best haircut & color I have ever had! I have thick, wavy hair that is hard to manage. Until I saw Rachel on Sat I had not found a stylist that gave me the cut I was looking for.
