I came to this Saloon on a Monday a couple of weeks ago, prior to my visit to another Salon shortly afterwards. I met the owner Maria. She was unprofessional and rude. I simply wanted a consultation for my hair (trim and highlight) or to make an appointment for one. I like to meet people first. Despite my understanding of the situation she was hesitant to even set up an appointment. Maria is not good at speaking to people, or hiding her facial expressions. When I told her what I wanted she turned down my request with a different suggestion, not realizing I was willing to pay for what i was asking for. There is a Millicent and Company down the street that is much bigger than this Salon. The staff and owner are much friendlier and way more accommodating. After my Monday experience with Maria I decided to visit Millicent's and got my trim and highlights that very same day. I will not return to Salon Radiance 2, nor do I reccomend it to anyone. read more

This being my 1st visit here, 1st time having Desirae do my hair, I was pleasantly pleased! After speaking with Desirae over the phone on what I wanted done with my hair, I got from her a good feeling. Desirae was professional, personable and very easy to talk to. I worked a job in the travel industry for over 10 years, so naturally I had to look nice. Having been away from the field for over 4 years I did not have the need to spend money unnecessarily on things like my hair, but I wanted to feel good again. I gave Desirae my ok to do what she thought would look best for and on me. She did not dissapoint me! I got from her a nice layered cut, while keeping some of my length. Also she did a near perfect job on my highlights! She asked me what color highlights I wanted, I told her to do what she thought would look good on me. She suggested a caramel tone...I agreed! Longer story short I am & was extremly happy with the finished results. I would definetly go back again to see her and would highly reccomend her to my friends as well! read more

If you are looking for a really good stylist, I recommend Jennifer Robinet. She will not disappoint you. For one, she does exactly what you want vice other stylists who just butcher your hair. Hands down the worst hair cut I have had in 15 years. I'm not the type to tell this directly to a stylist unless it's a small change to the cut and they ask directly. Other customers hesitate to be pushy in fear of upsetting the stylist and in turn, they care less about the customer's true satisfaction. Therefore, it is important that you listen to customers when they tell you what it is they want. A #3 clip on the sides and back does not mean to try it with scissors. An uneven haircut that was easily noticeable to coworkers leaves me in a position of having to pay for another haircut, and it will absolutely not be at this place. By the way, it might not be a bad idea to change the name of one of these places so customers don't begin their visit upset because they went to the wrong place. Google maps on the iPhone also lists both places with the same phone number. Last thing, these guys should put some pads of some sort on the metal bars of the shampoo chairs. It's always a comfortable temperature inside, but those bars are freezing when you place your arms on them. It's worth noting I've been to the other Salon Radiance (#1 I guess you would call it) twice before and both visits were great. Katie from #2 did a poor job listening to her customer and by charging them with her own iPhone credit card reader, it's uncomfortable when being asked about how much for a total charge (basically, how much do you want to tip me). The tech aspect is cool, but there's something about having to announce your tip that is uncomfortable. read more

I originally discovered this salon and Suzanne Cox, my stylist, via a livingsocial deal. While I've been burned many times by these kind of deals, and never saw a stylist again after I redeemed my deal, I decided to give this one a try nevertheless. Well, I was not disappointed. First of all, the salon is kind of hard to find, but only because it is kind of in a "city" part of east county San Diego. Having grown up in east county San Diego, this was a nice surprise. I could get my haircut, get a great lunch and visit an art gallery in east county without having to move my car? Sold. Well anyway back to the salon. Suzanne was super concerned with my hair and what I wanted out of my hair experience. She definitely takes her practice seriously and loves meeting new clients and it shows. She even sent me a card in the mail thanking me for coming in and referencing some personal things we discussed in a genuinely concerned way! I loved my new haircut and highlights and the best part was, she made them seem so "natural" that even though I never told my fiance I got my hair did (a woman needs secrets ) he said " I like how your hair somehow looks lighter in places in the sun" Haha fooled. So I had to go back to Suzanne a second time, which I've never done with a livingsocial one time deal, and she did exactly what I wanted and even listened to me talk about my cats! I would not recommend this salon if you would like your stylist to show up for your appointment. Angie cancelled my appointment with only one days notice. I rescheduled ad she was a no show for the rescheduled appointment. The bewildered woman who was only on her second day at the salon was left to run the desk and she didn't even know who Angie was. Not only that but she suggested that I should be the one to call Angie to see if she would be coming to my appointment. A highly unprofessional environment. read more

The stylist I have is great and knowledgeable; she did great work and when I left the salon I was happy with the end result. However, I give this place three star due to the following: I have had two appoints at this location which only at one I received service. The first time I went to this location my appointment was pushed more to the right because a client was not annotated appropriately in the schedule so my original appoint time was pushed by two hours. As I'm in route to my appointment I receive notification that an they are running behind by an additional 40 min. I was a bit frustrated because as well all have profession I have coordinate time off and time to have a provider for my child. The second time I scheduled an appointment my appointment was misplaced on the wrong schedule. -- this I only found out because I personally contacted the stylist. Although the date and time was confirmed as I arrived there was no stylist. Although mistakes happen I sat in the salon for 25 min with no one in the salon bothering to greet me not inform me my stylist was not even there. With that being said; I do love the performance of my stylist but due to the implications I cannot give this place 5 stars. read more

I was also a little afraid of cutting it and trying an ombré as I've never had one til now. Before I review SR2, I must say that my stylist was sweet, considerate, friendly and I genuinely enjoyed the experience. She was nothing but polite and easy to talk to. I just wish the work would have matched the level of customer service. I was running late and needed to get ready for a holiday party, so the lazy part of me decided to pop in for a quick blowout ($30). A coworker of mine had been to SR2 and came back with amazing honey highlights. I figured that there's not much they could do to mess up a blow out if they could work magic on her mousy brown hair. The "blow-out" was a disaster. My stylist basically dried my hair by combing her fingers through it till it was about 60% dry. I told her it was really important to blow lots of volume into my fine roots, so she lifted each section with paddle brush and blasted it with air. No round brush, just a big frizz-infusing blast. When my hair was almost dry, she used a flat iron to smooth out the strands. WTF? I could have done this at home and saved $30. All she did was finger comb my hair till it was almost dry, and then put some bends in it with an iron. Even that part was a mess. She left several flat iron "crimps" all over my head where she pressed down too hard. One side of my hair had curly waves, while the other side fell flat. She ran the iron over and over and over and over again on the flat side, till she finally gave up and said "It's kinda cool having one side curly and one side straight! Uh.... no. My regular salon is Belli Belli in Pacific Beach. When they blow dry my hair, they do it strand by SOAKING WET strand with round brush. It's tedious work, but it locks in the blow out for days and I leave with shiny frizz-free waves and bouncy volume. Within two hours, all of the flat iron "curls" had fallen out and the next day my hair looked like limp linguini. It was awful. I had to re-wash it the next day. My roots were completely flat and limp. It was such a huge waste of money/time, I had to write this bad review even though I REALLY liked my stylist. Maybe the cuts and color here are phenomenal (as the reviews suggest), but my blow-out was lazy. I was really bummed. read more

Jen is amazing!!! I have been going to her for a few years now and I couldn't be happier. I am pretty simple as is comes to my hair. You know, highlights/low lights a quick trim and I'm out. However my hair is pretty long and it's always been hard to have some one cut my hair straight. Not Jen, she's always been on point and my color looks fabulous when I walk out. She is magical at choosing the right colors for the seasons and my complexion. For all you curly hair ladies that want to go straight for a while, Jen is also the queen at blow outs! I was walking by and decided to get my hair was done when I was in San Diego. I walk in the place it's a very clean store. When I met my hair dresser Angel she offered me a drink and was very nice. My hair roots were slightly grown out and I wanted my hair to be a ombre with slight highlights and she had done an amazing coloring job! I love my hair much! She also trimmed my hair the way I wanted it. When you tell her just a little she listens. I wish I lived in SD just to be able to see her again! There are photos posted. This is the cutest hair salon I have ever been to! I made an appointment with Chelsea to get an up do for my prom. I am so happy with my experience at Salon Radiance 2. I came in with some pretty terrible at-home hair bleaching and color. My hair was blue, green, baby blonde, and a bit of my natural color mixed in. It was a blotchy mess. I had a color correction service done with Chelsea. And she did and AMAZING job. The blue lifted from my hair and she gave me a more natural look. Everything blends in seamlessly. I love it. I highly recommend this salon, especially Chelsea if you need a color correction done!
