This place is amazing. Great affordable Italian food. On top of the great food, I was excited to see that they had happy hour every day of the week! Wr ordered pizza and pasta here and both were delicious. I highly recommend the clam linguine. It comes in white or red sauce. I tried the white sauce since the bartender said that was his favorite and it was delicious. I have decided though that I am more of a red sauce type of girl so I'm excited to go back and try the red sauce one. My boyfriend ordered the baked ziti and it was amazing. Perfect amount of robust. Pizza was on point as well! If you decide to check out Sal's be prepared to wait. This place get busy. While we were there we could tell there was a lot of regulars that come in. The food is great and adorable so I could see why. We went there on a Saturday and thought we would beat the crowd at 5:00pm but we were mistaken. Wait time was about an hour. I overheard a family of 4 say they were told the wait would be 30 mins but have been waiting for over an hour. Definitely don't show up hungry and be prepared to wait. At first I was like, OH great they messed up my reservations because when we checked in they said my name wasn't there. I was just a bit upset about this BUT the host said we can put your name on the list and it's about 45-60 mins wait. I thought about it, I was HANGRY but said what the heck, ok. BUT this guy was very professional, understanding and sincere in his apology about what happened and said he will do the best he can. Low and behold , not 45 mins BUT under 15 mins we got seated. Right there, that's what brings me back to any restaurant. Excellent customer service and attention. Now with the food.... I really wanted to try their Baked Ziti pizza, our waitress said YES but recommend to add meatballs. It was amazing!! Good call girl. I have been loyal to Sal's for about 4 years, until now. The last three times my pizza has been burned and they gave me the wrong pizza last month. Their pizza is delicious, their staff is friendly and efficient, and if you order with ample time on Fridays... family time is a hit. Give it a try. After giving this place 3 tries (dining in and to go), we've decided it's not for us. Pizza is just okay and overpriced. In our most recent takeout order, our pizza was overdone. Came here after Oktoberfest last night in need of some good pizza! It was mostly empty to start. Until a huge martial arts group came in the restaurant. There was only one server, I felt so bad for her, she was really doing the most to keep everyone happy! She gave us some good pizza recommendations, but my husband is absurdly picky so we got the grandpa pizza with half no basil. The crust was perfect, it was thin but fluffy and the toppings were fresh and delicious. We ended up just getting it to go since it was so crazy in there, but we loved it! I went to Sal's because of all its good reviews! Either I am wrong or just saw the light! It was 5:30 pm and packed with people eating mostly pizza! I have never been more disappointed with the lack of flavor and bite. My wife and I are pizza lovers, so we couldn't have been more upset with their pizza. We did takeout and threw away all the remaining pizza other than the 2 pieces we managed to consume!! The sauce lacked flavor, the crust was not a good chew and overall there was little flavor. It's hard to believe that so many people ate their pizza. I would have liked nothing more than to give them more stars but I must be honest in my reviews. Absolutely our favorite local pizza place. They have the novelty - pizza with penne or spaghetti and meatballs - which you mind think is a gimmick, but ends up being delicious. Trust my review people. I am from NY, I am an Italian American and I am a very picky eater especially when it comes to Italian food. This was my second time here. First time we got pizza and wings. Second time we got entrees. Pizza is excellent here. A little doughy but still very good. By far the best I've had since moving here. Good cheese lock too. Now as far as the wings go I specifically asked if they use Franks Red Hot and the waiter said "yes". When they were set on the table I could tell by the smell of them NO they do not. Very frustrating and this is not the first place this has happened. Not only no Franks but they weren't good. Moving on. Tonight we had entrees. The hostess messed up so they gave us garlic knots on the house. Best garlic knots I've ever had! After that we had a rice ball. It was really good. My wife and I questioned the peas in it but still very good. I got chicken eggplant parmigiana and it was amazing. The sauce which is the most important thing is to die for. Everything was piping hot. The cannolis were good. I can honestly Sals is the best Italian food I've had in Arizona and is probably my top five of all time. read more

Celebrated my Dad's birthday here at Sal's. This pizza place was featured on Diners, Drive Ins & Dives! There's a TV inside the restaurant that has the episode playing on repeat. While watching the owner on the TV, I was excited when he just *poof* appeared out in the dining area! He made a stop at our table. I thought it was cool that he recognized my Dad. (My Pops is becoming a "usual" here.) We told the waiter it was my Dad's birthday and he surprised him with a set of 3 golden CANNOLIS! Looks like this will be the spot for an annual birthday tradition. P.S. I was also pleased that they offer gluten free pizza crust! Being a former New Yorker, this is the closest to the pizza pie that I remember from home. Sal and Grace have put together a fantastic restaurant in Gilbert. Not too long ago they expanded where the restaurant is now a very good size, and can accommodate, small and big parties alike. Since I am new to the area I was told by someone the pizza is really good. I decided to try it. I got a couple of slices of pepperoni and a drink. The pizza was really good. I got a couple of their cannoli too. They were really good. The service was different. You can order at the counter or sit and order. Then when I got back to the office for work. Patronized here on 7-16-23 and found the staff to be extremely friendly and welcoming. It was crowded so they are obviously locally popular. But the food is not special. I had the calamari, a slice of white pizza and garlic and OO spaghetti. Calamari just plain and ok. The pizza had a cardboard-y crust and was just very plain. It may have been old; on the way out I saw the white pizza in the displays case they probably took the one slice from from that they served me. Spaghetti was quite dry. Nice roasted garlic but the oil was all at the bottom of the dish and seemed like water. I wonder if they put the pasta onto the dish without draining it properly? I didn't hate it but was well under-impressed. I'll be brutally honest: this establishment wouldn't be able make a go of it if it existed in many places I've resided in my time. Our friends catered food from Sal's for a birthday party and oh my I am in love with their garlic knots. I got to taste some variety from their menu. Garlic knots, bruschetta, salad, pasta and pizza. This is the best garlic knots I have had, hands down. I can just keep eating them, they are juicy, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Bruschetta was good but was a little soggy by the time I had it. Salad was decent. Their pasta is really good and so Is their pizza. I had margarita and pineapple pizza, both well made. I enjoyed the rice ball the most out of every dish. The rigatoni pizza was a little over cooked and very rich for my taste but it was still decent.
