When we arrived, the Matre'd welcomed us, asked if we had a reservation, and offered to seat us. Although we usually prefer the bar, it was full. Sensing our preference, he said watch this and arranged with the guests so we could still enjoy our usual spot. His thoughtful gesture made us feel right at home. Choosing a dish is the hardest part. I ordered an Italian beer. Normally a Peroni, but tonight it was a Moretti. The house salad is simple and fresh. Italian dressing with blue cheese crumbles certainly hits the spot and is perfect for the main course. Tonight, I went with one of my favorites, Cavatelli Catania, and it is perfect. So hot that when you turn the pasta over, the steam rolls out. Just the way I like it. Extra cheese on top, and you are good to go. Not only now, but there is so much there is enough to take away and have another meal. I almost hate to comment on Salvatore's because more people will be coming there, and I won't be able to sit at the bar for dinner, a drink, and fun conversation. They take such good care of me; I have to take care of them. Capeesh?

It was snowing and cold, and I was there about 6 or 7 minutes before opening. They were kind enough to let me in, sit at the bar, and take an order for a drink before they were actually open. Since it was cold, the lasagna soup sounded fantastic, and it did not disappoint. It was so good. I highly recommend it. My bartender was obviously super friendly (letting me in early), and the service, conversation, and attention I was given were spectacular. It's a fun place to look around. Decorations are interesting. It has a unique charm. My main course was excellent, as was my dessert. I had to go all out for this lunch, not because I needed to eat that much, but because I couldn't say no to anything that was put in front of me If you're looking for a fun place with great food and people, this is a good spot to go.

Let me tell you about my experience today at the Blue Springs, MO location. It was as disappointing as ordering a pizza and only getting the box. Honestly, I might have preferred that. First, the pizza itself. It barely had any pepperoni or cheese on it. I've seen crackers with more toppings. When I called to address the issue, I spoke with Kayla, the manager on duty. Unfortunately, Kayla seemed more interested in laughing and chatting with her coworkers than actually helping me. When I brought up the lack of toppings, my ongoing frustration with this location's consistent issues, and the fact that I had told my husband we shouldn't order from here because well the pizza is always disappointing. Kayla seemed to find the whole situation amusing. Spoiler: it wasn't. She offered no solutions--no refund, no credit. Instead, she pointed out that since I had given my 3-year-old the smallest piece of pizza to calm a meltdown, where she was screaming "I love messed up pizza," when I was trying to explain it needed to go back... I wasn't eligible for anything. When I asked for the corporate number to escalate the issue, she claimed she didn't know it and wasn't motivated to find it. She eventually mentioned it was online but admitted she wouldn't even know where to direct me. The only real help Kayla gave me during the entire call was spelling her name correctly. That's it. Beyond that, she sarcastically offered to remake the pizza, adding that she didn't know how many times she'd have to remake it since I "clearly don't like the way they make pizza, their crust, or their toppings." Not exactly the customer service experience I was hoping for. At this point, I'm not picky--I'm just looking for someone, anyone, from Pizza Hut to step in and Make Apizza Great Again. Please let me know how we can resolve this. And maybe consider a refresher course in customer service for Kayla--because sarcasm and dismissal shouldn't be part of a manager's skillset. There are two other Blue Springs Pizza Huts that have both provided pretty consistent and excellent service. It's this location that consistently disappoints. Thanks, Jen

I could not finish more than a few bites before throwing in the towel. I played it off as maybe I just didn't like the dish. Maybe my palette wasn't meant for it. A year or so later, today, I order a lasagna, something my microwave is quite familiar with. With my vivid familiarity of microwave lasagna, I'm not proud to inform you that great-value microwave lasagna brings me more joy than the lasagna I had here. The lasagna here was not bad, but it was not good. I would eat this again if I was hungry, but I would never seek this lasagna out. Each bite was so oily that I became a meteorologist for my stomach's own forecast. While the oil was consistent bite to bite, the meat dispersion wasn't. The meat was hanging out on one side of the dish clumped up together, making the bites with meat feel either lonely or overcrowded. Now that I have tried a dish that I know how it should taste, I can admit maybe, "The Tortellini Michelangelo," is likely objectively not good too. Or I should just appreciate the one-note musky mushroom taste and nothing else. The atmosphere feels weird and tacky. I understand what they are going for aesthetically but the execution feels like a fake halloween mimicry, rather than being authentic. Not that I could tell you anything of being authentically italian. I am mainly thinking of the black drop ceiling tiles which turn into regular white drop ceiling tiles at the diagonal edge of the wall or any time there is a ventilation tile. The service was okay, it was very busy so it was hard to flag our server down, but nothing bad. Considering all of this, I think this place as a very middle of the road experience. It really only feels like it is doing the bare minimum to be a restaurant, as such, it meets my expectations for a restaurant.

I think sometimes, quite unfairly, restaurants can be a victim of their own hype. Living somewhat near here and seeing how packed it is, and how hard it is to get a reservation... the lore grew and grew. I thought this must be the best spot in town! And you know what? It is really good. Really solid, good service, and a good restaurant to check out. Put it on the to-try list. One area that didn't fully land for me was vibe-wise, or if I need to act my age, I could call it the atmosphere. It's such a small space (totally fine) but the back row of tables is essentially shared. Normally fine, but the night we were there we were right next to a large group that was super loud. Kinda dampened the energy, and felt better when they left. Basically, wanting date night but the energy here is more "brasserie" and slightly more casual than I expected. Anywho, the food was good. Loved the focaccia starter with a garlicky olive oil. The Italian salad was pretty good, a bit marked up on price, but pretty good. I had the chicken parmigiana and wanted to love it, but I'd say a solid four stars. Good, not great. The red sauce was very good, and the serving size is generous. Passed on dessert and headed around the corner for after-dinner cocktails. All in all, a great neighborhood spot where I feel the prices are a bit high, but I see most of the appeal. I thought this might be a regular spot in the rotation, but it's more likely to be an every now and again kind of spot.
