The potatoes were perfect, not undercooked and not mushy. The pizza is up there with the best in the area. More cheese and toppings than a few other places. The crust is firm but not crispy. Ordered a tray of food to be catered and when the young man on the phone asked how much I wanted to tip the driver I said $5, he said "excuse me" I repeated myself. A buffalo slice that's pretty spicey -- FTW! We stopped in for the first time in quite some time, and man I missed the place. All we had was 2 slices each -- I had a buffalo and a margarita slice. The buffalo was not made sissy and mild like many other places - i didn't have to dump red pepper on at all! The margarita was tasty, but a tad sloppy to eat, as most of the cheese pulled off with the first or second bite. My girl had a pepperoni and a plain slice, both of which she said were good - and they must've been, as I wasn't even offered a bite...Haha! I appreciate the friendliness of the people and the cleanliness. I saw someone come out and wipe table and benchseat twice in the time we were there, as well as the bathrooms which were actually clean - and open to all customers use. My coworkers and I are regular customers so we're appalled that on our lunch break today, a staff member stated "look at them spending their stimulus checks" to another staff. The service is somewhat slow. I ordered penne ala vodka without onions, but they put onions in it so I had to wait for additional time. The portion size is huge and enough for at least two servings. The pasta was perfectly creamy and the bacon and prosciutto added a nice smokiness to it. The sauce had too much salt in it and most places underseason pasta (I don't know whether it's worse for it to be overseasoned or underseasoned). I had to drink a gulp of water every time I took a bite. Perhaps, they didn't account for the natural saltiness of the meats. It came with three slices of white bread, which is a great vehicle to soak up all the sauce. Yummmmm! However, I tend to like my sauces thicker, so they actually coat the pasta. read more

Sal's is amazing!!! I've been going twice a week for the last 3 years and I've never been disappointed. From a slice of a pizza to a large catering order they get it right every time. I ordered from Sal's for my grandfathers 90th birthday party and my family loved every dish. The eggplant parm was a huge hit!!! I also frequent Sal's for lunch my favorite pizza is the napolitano. This slice is amazing add pepperoni or meatball to kick it up a notch. For healthy options go with a Sal's salad with grilled chicken or grilled chicken with broccoli rabe. When it comes to sandwiches the sausage and peppers is awesome my close second is chicken cutlet fresh mozzarella and vodka sauce (not on the menu but it is amazing). Bottom line whether you want a slice or a large catering order go to Sal's you won't be disappointed. read more

Really bad first experience. Regular slice wasn't fresh and very bland. The Sicilian was terrible, rubber cheese and tasteless dough. The sauce was overly sweet. Worst pizza I've had in the area. The on a positive note, my GF's salad slice was excellent. Best salad pizza I've ever had. The dressing and greens mixed in with the dough and sauce were outstanding. I wish I could give this place ZERO STARS!! There were two people behind the counter, one person making the pizza and 3 people in the kitchen. NOBODY is wearing masks AT ALL!! (not even under their chins) Zero gloves and no sanitizer/hand washing. It was so unsanitary. One of the guys was also coughing into his hand and then continuing to make the pizza. It's tough to make the crust crispy and crunchy without burning it but Sal's manages to do it. Not exactly what I think of when people say "thin crust" but it's delish. We tried their famed Eggplant Parmigiana slice and while quite good, would not warrant a return trip from home. If I was in the neighborhood, for sure. Chicken Scarp slice was loaded with chicken and appropriately spicy. Was not happy to see a pile of boxes outside the restaurant that had clearly been there for some time. I have had Sal's before, and I've definitely experienced better. I ordered one time on delivery, and the pizza was slightly burned, and barely any pepperoni on it, and it looked bad and was sloppy. When you actually bite into the pizza however, I guess it's kind of good. read more

I am editing my review to be fair after hearing from the owner. I have no intention to argue what Margherita pizza should be. It probably is different in every establishment. But most of the times, we get a pie with melted mozzarella with tomato sauce, or cooked sliced tomato when we order Margherita. But at this place, the Margherita includes non-melted mozzarella (not warm) and uncooked sliced tomato (not warm). The pizza pie with melted mozzarella with tomato sauce is called "Napolitano" at this establishment. So I got exactly what I ordered! So I am changing the rating. I just did not enjoy that Margherita at all - hot crust with cold tomato slice and cold mozzarella were not good together. Their other pizzas are very good! read more

Excellent food. Had the Sal's salad. Tasty. Good balance of walnuts, blue cheese, dried cranberries and mixed greens. Had two slices too. Penne pasta on pizza was killer. The other was chicken and mushroom with a Marsala (so) sauce. Also good. Nice staff. Cold drinks. Quick service too. It's on paper plates that are to small for the slices. Not a bad thing.
