The restaurant is old an dingy with seating held to gether by duct tape. I ordered a Caeser salad with grilled chicken and the chicked was inedible. I'm guessing it was a premade frozen "grilled" chicken breast that was more like chicken chewing gum. I removed it from the salad and told the server and she took it away. She didn't ask what was wrong with the chick and she definitely still charged me for it. The salad itself was a soggy mess that had probably been chopped days ago. The bread put on the table tasted good enough but was cold and also probalbly days old. Instead of olive oil like most italian the give you the little butter packets like you see at Waffle House. It's very possible that Sal's, while clearly terrible at Caeser salads, may be good at other dishes. I'll never know. read more

First impressions- we were not impressed. Booth seats were broken. Bathrooms were clean but needed work. Service was adequate. We sat by the window and had a nice lake view. Food was amazing. Sea Bass- the sauce was very flavorful. The fish had an excellent crust with a tender flaky consistency. If I'm being honest it could have been any white fish as the delicacy of sea bass was overwhelmed by the sauce. Veggies were cooked perfectly. Veal-was very good. Noodles cooked perfectly & sauce did not taste like it was out of a jar. read more

I look forward to coming to Sal's every time I'm in the area. I have a long time customer a little further south, but I always drive out of the way to come here. The view out the back windows is still spectacular, though the ambience has faded a bit over the years. The windows are dirty and cracked, and the once endearing collectibles and memorabilia have grown cluttered. The TV doesn't help the ambiance, especially when cable news is turned up instead of the music that should be present in any good restaurant. But the good bones and great people are still here, and so is the excellent food. The portion sizes are still huge, and the food is delicious. Fettuccini modo mia is my favorite. Where else do you find jalapeños in Italian food? Come show Sal's some love, so they can restore it to its former shine! read more

Sals Was fantastic! The service was exceptional.. The environment was great, the food was very good! All of the Pasta cooked Al dente, rich with authentic flavor and served bubbling hot.. a must try! We ordered the rolls with fresh herbs and garlic oil and yummmmmmm... can't wait to come back .. could not eat near as much as I wanted ... Such a neat spot big windows overlooking a small lake .. great spot for a first date or large family gathering! read more

I've tried so many dishes and really wanted to like this place after moving here, but almost everything was gross. It's also old and run down looking inside. I'm sorry. Maybe it's because I grew up in a big city with lots of amazing Italian restaurants and I'm not from Henderson, (and I've had real Italian food in Italy), but this place ain't it. The only decent thing here is the pizza. Even the bread is so bland. Sadly it's the only Italian food that isn't 40+ minutes away. I'm guessing the high ratings are from people who grew up here and don't know any better. Sorry. I wish we had decent restaurants in this town. read more

Great spot to grab a meal. Friendly staff that are quick to assist you getting situated and serve your meal. The view looking outside is beautiful. It is BYOB so unless you brought alcohol you will need to have soda or juices. read more

Let me start by saying, this is my first bad review. I ordered the 16" Meat Lovers Pizza and this is what I got (see picture). I ate two slices that tasted like cardboard. My young waitress asked me how it was when I wanted a to go box. I responded, not good. I stopped by and spoke to the owner, who denied being the owner despite her being pictured on the wall. Instead of listening to my concerns she went and got the cook. Who asked me what I was expecting, a perfectly made pizza? I said I expect to get a pizza that tastes good and reflects what I paid. Without a word, the owner took the check and refunded me for the meal and then said, "goodbye!" I know a lot of people love this place, but it's just isn't what it used to be based on the pictures on the wall. read more

Thought I would enjoy the view and a delicious dinner. Unfortunately, the service is inexperienced and lacking. The food isn't much better - I should've had the pizza but decided on stuffed mushrooms and rústico salad. The mushroom stuffing was mushy (tasty but overly sauced) and the salad which could've been delicious was too oily. One definite redeeming grace was the bread! That was fantastic. If I'm back in the area I may stop by for the pizza. and give the place another try. read more

Wow Yummy Yummy We had clams linguine - delicious sauce and tender clams. Paired with a side salad with their delicious tomato vinaigrette! There bread is legendary but not the best part of the meal- so so. Service beyond comparison. Will return next time in Henderson Texas. read more

Good food. Good family restaurant. Beautiful scenery overlooking the water. The stuffed mushrooms were the best thing we ate and I had it as a meal with the unlimited bread. We also got the meat lovers pizza and a bowl of spaghetti with meatballs. I felt the meatballs in the spaghetti should've been better. read more

Great pizza, our family has eaten at Sal's a few times lately while visiting my mom, always great service and quality food.

Cozy and family friendly. It felt like we were in Italy. Large portions and great flavor!

Sal's is an authentic Italian restaurant. Most of the recipes are from their families in Italy. Sal's wife makes the Tiramisu herself and it is amazing (must have). We have been going one a week for at least ten years and we have tired most things in the menu. Salmon - Fabulous, Rolls - homemade, Chicken rollatini - fresh and the list goes on. Service is personal and prompt. The restaurant overlooks the lake and it is beautiful to sit at the window booth with the Italian music playing. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch here as we were passing through town. It was delicious. My husband had the supreme pizza and he said it was amazing, right now to the crust. Great service. Waitress came by regularly to check on our party, even after we had paid the bill and were sitting there chatting. I ordered a sampler and the person I was with got Chicken Parmesan. The portions on both were huge. We both ended up having to take some home. The bread was great, and everything on the sampler plate was delicious. I really don't have anything to complain about. It was a great experience, and I look forward to going back and trying more of what they have to offer. read more

We choose this venue for my 70th birthday dinner with two of my son's families. We booked the private dining room overlooking the lake. Appetizers were fried calamari, peppered tuna, cognac shrimp and fried cheese sticks. All were delicious and the tuna was top shelf. I had the sea bass special with pesto sauce and veggies. My wife had lobster ravioli which is her favorite dish there. My sons families tried an assortment of pastas and all were delighted. Service was spot on and the tiramisu birthday cake delivered by singing staff was a surprise and delicious dessert. Sal's is the real deal Italian restaurant. read more

This past Saturday evening was our first time trying Sal's. We had a party of 18 and we called about 25 minutes before arriving. We feel fortunate to have a really fine Italian restaurant here in Henderson. I've loved everything I have ever had here (except their grilled chicken breast). It is overcooked. Everything else is wonderful and traditional. Prices are very reasonable for this fantastic food. They have the Italian salad I have ever had. I think it is the house salad, but not sure. Very good dishes at a reasonable price. Pizza is great, although, for multiple toppings ask to have it "well done" aka cooled longer. Also byob for years. However, a bar is built and they have applied for the TABC license as I've been told. Sal is usually in the kitchen cooking along with other family working various roles. We ate here some time ago. The setting of this place is great with the atmosphere and the large windows overlooking a small lake behind. Our service was fast and friendly and exceptional. The family is from New York. The Shrimp Cognac is excellent here and one of our favorite dishes of all time! Entrees of Fruiti de Mare and Eggplant Parmesan and Fettuccine Modo Mia were all great as well but we will always be Shrimp. Cognac lovers. This is an excellent place. read more
