    Sal's 50th Anniversary Mug
    Leena S.

When in the mood for some high caloric cheesy goodness, Sal's has been my go-to pizza place for over 10 years. In fact, when dad visits from Delaware or my sister and her family from Massachusetts, Sals is their first choice in pizza too! The shop is nothing special and it's not the type of place you would want to sit down and eat-in. But, if you want take-out or delivery of a great New York style pizza with a nice crust, ample cheese and pure deliciousness Sals has got that covered. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary, their longevity another testament to the fine pizza, and gave us an anniversary mug. Here's to an 50!

So this place has been around for as long as i can remember. its one of the places that holds fast in any economic condition and while lots of stores around it have come and gone....cept the mickey D's next door. this place is pretty damn good. Id go with the pizza and the wings. cant go wrong with em. but if you want a sub/hoagie, cant go wrong with them either. eating in is kinda cramped but they do deliver. they recruit from the highschool and they are pretty efficient but they do the tip dance sometimes which is kind of awkward when they charge you like 3 dollars for delivery fee. service inside by the owners and workers is not what i would label the friendliest, but its a small hole in the wall that serves pretty decent food so cant really complain :). also Ac is non existent so get it delivered and enjoy the coolness with a hot slice of pizza.

With a massive menu that truly has something for everyone, Mannino's delivers incredible food, next-level service, and unbeatable value. Honestly? It's a solid 11 on a 1- 10 scale! Let's talk service. It was nothing short of spectacular. Co-owners Vito and Jose run the dining room with such precision, warmth, and genuine care that you feel like a VIP the entire time. Their attention to detail is unreal, and watching them keep everything running flawlessly in a bustling, fast-paced environment is seriously impressive. And the food... my goodness, the food! The staff was friendly and the food came out very fast. The prices were reasonable too. The cold octopus salad ($13) and olive bowl ($6) were ordered for starters. The salad consisted of baby arugula, Calabrian chili peppers, and Gigante beans. I believe spring mix was used actually. Regardless, this was a well put together salad. There were plenty of pieces of octopus. They were a little inconsistent as some were tough, but they had the right amount of flavor. The beans were a pleasant surprise too. The olive mix had a good variety with plenty of them too. The large tomato pie ($19.25) was ordered. The crust was way thinner than I thought. It had good flavor, but was actually a little too crunchy, but nothing terrible where I would not order again. The tomato sauce was great, one of the better ones I had. It had a great balance with the tasty crust. Will I go back? Definitely.

I wanted pizza so bad so I went along with my husband's choice, even though I was apprehensive about this place regarding the pizza. Upon walking in, we were greeted immediately by the staff behind the pizza counter. When you walk in, the ordering counter is right there and you can choose to order to go or sit & dine in, as well as table service. We decided to dine in with table service. The area seemed small space wise but there were plenty of tables and it did not feel crammed. I luckily browsed reviews prior to visiting because they do not serve wine or beer but you can BYOB. We brought a bottle with us to open at the table. I do not recall being charged a corkage fee. Since I was craving pizza, hubs was also game, so we went with a large pie, with half pepperoni for hubs. We also ordered garlic knots, hoping they would be real knots instead of rolls. Our food arrived in a timely manner and was fresh. I was disappointed though because there was so much sauce on the pizza but hubs was happy since he loves extra sauce. I didn't think to ask for light sauce because there usually is not a lot of sauce on pizza up north but I learned my lesson. Hubs thought the pizza was good. The knots were rolls so I was disappointed on that aspect as well. We were in the area for a training Hubs had to attend and he had this place for lunch one day and said it was also good. The service was great and the food was okay, I would just ask for light sauce next time.

After another $30 wasted I confirmed that I was right and should just stop trying and stick with my beloved neapolitan style pizza. Scottos pizza in East Windsor, NJ got me excited because when I walked in, I saw the pizza guy pulling my precooked dough and sauce out of the oven then putting the toppings on and, as per the comments on my previous post, this is how it's supposed to be. The counter girl was sweet and said they needed 7 more minutes so I paid, thanked her, and waited. Upon the pull out I got even more excited ( #thatswhatshesaid ), drove to my hotel, did my mandatory pizza box opening IG boomerang, then dove in. At first bite my heart sank, flashing back to my last pizza experience that I posted, and felt the gooey, wet, uncooked dough. I pushed through and got towards the crust which was crunchy and cooked through. The toppings were warmed, after being cooked for the 7 minutes I was told to wait but not juicy and perfectly cooked. All in all, this was a major fail and just like your final abusive and toxic partner, I'm giving up on this type of pizza. My colleague warned me about this place but I stupidly ignored. The service staff was very sweet but that's the only pleasant thing I dealt with at this spot. Just like my last post, I took extensive photos of different angles of the rawness to hope and stop the opinions of telling me I'm wrong. Sorry, not sorry, don't waste your money.

Every sentence was punctuated with "boss," to the point where I started wondering if I was about to get assigned a shift schedule. I half-expected him to hand me a clipboard and ask if I approved the latest inventory order. Despite the unexpected managerial responsibilities, the food was solid, and once the initial awkwardness faded, the service landed somewhere between "acceptable" and "I guess I'll allow it." Overall, it was a good meal with a side of unintentional comedy. Would I return? Absolutely. But next time, I'll wear a hard hat and call ahead--just in case.

Both arrived at my table covered in oil, dripping with oil. I had to let it drip off, and then blotted the rest with napkins, but it was still totally oily. The crust was so thin that each slice fell apart into a bunch of torn pieces that I had to eat with a fork. I ordered a side salad of lettuce, tomatoes, cukes, onions, the usual. Nothing fancy - no olives or giardiniera or anything like that. I wanted oil and vinegar for dressing, and it was brought to me mixed together. I asked for separate vinegar and oil so I could dress the salad myself, and the server was gracious and brought it to me. After dressing the salad, I couldn't even eat it. What is it with pizzerias that use their greenest, heaviest, most strong tasting and bitter olive oil in a fresh salad? It overpowers the salad, and tastes awful. We don't do that in Italy. Salads need a light tasting, light golden olive oil so you can taste the components of the fresh salad and not be massacred by the heavy bitter taste of oil. I am astounded when Italian pizzerias and restaurants do this. The good news? The sauce on the pizza was fabulous. The bad news? $16.00 for this mess. And no refill offered on the soda.
