I recently tried a similar style pie and the core was raw so I figured I'd give it one last try because a bunch of people said I was wrong. After another $30 wasted I confirmed that I was right and should just stop trying and stick with my beloved neapolitan style pizza. Scottos pizza in East Windsor, NJ got me excited because when I walked in, I saw the pizza guy pulling my precooked dough and sauce out of the oven then putting the toppings on and, as per the comments on my previous post, this is how it's supposed to be. The counter girl was sweet and said they needed 7 more minutes so I paid, thanked her, and waited. Upon the pull out I got even more excited ( #thatswhatshesaid ), drove to my hotel, did my mandatory pizza box opening IG boomerang, then dove in. At first bite my heart sank, flashing back to my last pizza experience that I posted, and felt the gooey, wet, uncooked dough. I pushed through and got towards the crust which was crunchy and cooked through. The toppings were warmed, after being cooked for the 7 minutes I was told to wait but not juicy and perfectly cooked. All in all, this was a major fail and just like your final abusive and toxic partner, I'm giving up on this type of pizza. My colleague warned me about this place but I stupidly ignored. The service staff was very sweet but that's the only pleasant thing I dealt with at this spot. Just like my last post, I took extensive photos of different angles of the rawness to hope and stop the opinions of telling me I'm wrong. Sorry, not sorry, don't waste your money. read more

We recently ordered a meatball parmesean sub. The sauce was good but the meatballs were disappointing. It seems they use lots of bread crumbs which was the predominant flavor. Came back a few days ago and ordered a whole pizza to go cut 16 pieces instead of the usual eight pizza lasts a lot longer. That way everybody's dice. Everybody is good. They also have a little gelato cart to the right. My favorite flavor is coffee, but they also have chocolate And a few others. It's a wonderful end to a pizza dinner. I looked up this place and found some good reviews, so I decided to stop by, and we are glad we did choose this place. Located in a shopping plaza with shared parking. I see you again tell the restaurant you can pick a table and get seated, one of the service will come and take your order. The ambiance of the restaurant was cool and definitely reflects the pizzeria. We were given them a menu and asked for drinks. I was going for a vegetarian option and was surprised to see a lot of vegetarian options. I ordered vegetarian lasagna, and the rest of the crew ordered an eggplant parmesan sandwich, chicken fingers, and chicken parmesan. To share, we ordered some garlic knots and mozzarella cheese sticks. Garlic knots were perfect, nice, and soft, and the mozzarella cheese sticks were the best of all. It's not breaded style, but the batter tastes so good. Everyone liked the cheese sticks. My vegetable lasagna has been one of the best lasagna for a very long time, and it was served hot and very tasty. Love coming to this place. It's a pizzeria and a restaurant. It used to be BYOB, but recently saw the notice for not being anymore. Anywho! They have the best of all the food on their menu. I love olives. I have olives several times a week. I never met an olive I didn't like, until I went to Scotto's. I ordered puttanesca which came with a salad. Mercifully, the salad included a single, lonely and unhappy olive. The puttanesca olives were just as miserable and flavorless. Two stars for the well cooked pasta. Avoid the puttanesca. read more

I met my wife here for lunch since we both happened be in the area and she had mentioned how good the food was here. The establishment was very clean, spacious and the employees were very welcoming. They seem to also have foot traffic. They have a variety of meal option but I opted for two slices of pizza as I could see them through the glass and they looked very fresh and appetizing. My wife got the chicken Cesar wrap with fries. The fries weren't bad but could have been better, my wife had mention prior how good their seasoned fries were but these weren't season fries but they did state the delivery company had been inconsistent lately but planned on fixing it. My husband likes this place.. he's the one who works in the area and has been able to bring food home. He told me that everyone is friendly and very pleasant! My husband loves their grilled chicken wrap, so much that he went back a second day for round two! I ordered their chicken caesar wrap which was good and I like their fries, which had just enough bite and chew.. which I like. I am not into mushy fries.. A nice little pizza parlor with some very good food. I'll first tell you the good. Excellent meatball parmigiana sub. The meatballs are nice and soft. The strombolis are also excellent. My two favorite things from this restaurant. The pizza is also very good but ask for a thin crust. The negatives for this restaurant are few and just might be due to when I visited or my personal tastes. The Italian subs are nothing special. It had romaine lettuce and not much more than the bare minimum. I wasn't a fan. The service at the tables is meh. Been forgotten about a couple times. But hey it's a pizza parlor. 5 stars on pizza! Very disappointed with my sub. Roast beef was old. Not even a hint of pink. I asked for oil vinegar and mayo, got only mayo. I tasted the roast beef by itself to see if it was me or the meat. Anyway, grossed me out, threw it away and went back to work. Money down the drain and no lunch. Scottos is great for a variety of things--most commonly we go there for an awesome lunch. Great slices and give their Grilled Chicken Caesar wrap a try, its the best I've had! Lately Ive had a new go to: Chicken francaise panini, so flavorful and juicy and unlike anything I have tried before. On a larger scale, they have a nice side room they use for events. We've done both a repass and a bridal shower there and both times the staff were very attentive and had a great attitude. Been around for ages, original owners are what gave this establishment their high reputation. It has since changed owners maybe once or twice and not for the better. Apologies in advance for the lengthy review, but worth the read (in my humble opinion) as I've tried almost everything here over the years! Chicken entrees are extremely lacking, barely any sauce so stuck with dry pasta-- especially those white wine based. Anything involving shrimp is extremely skimpy for the price (around 6 small ones). Delivery is extremely slow and food shows up cold and chewy. Though when this happens, they are kind enough to supply the next order on the house. Not the friendliest of service typically in-store though. Maybe I shouldn't have started off with the negatives because there are definitely positives to this place. The lasagna here is fantastic and huge. One of the best with heaping amounts of cheese, meat, and sauce. Salads are also hearty and pretty great - the best house dressing. Note: also big fan of their marinara as it's on the tangier side (I don't like sweeter sauces). Other items enjoyed are their chicken fingers and fries (very crispy) with a thicker, sweet honey mustard sauce, calamari, and garlic knots. Their hot subs (i.e. chix parm or cheesesteaks) are solid, no real complaints though very hit or miss on flavor and roll quality. Cold subs are pretty good, tasty cheese. ...and last but not least, the P-I-Z-Z-A! Topping selections on display are always diverse and very yummy. From the standards like pepperoni or sausage to buffalo chicken, philly cheesesteak, taco, chix francaise, etc. Generous slices of chicken or other toppings per slice and fair price, around $3.50. Ordering a full fresh pie, family usually does plain, is hit or miss at Scotto's. Sometimes it's the best pie and other times lacking. Crispy yet soft crust--Jersey water ain't the worst! I recently ordered a scotto's pizza delivery with an order of garlic knots (excellent) and I know pizza is very personal. I actually think it's one of the more foods that is so diverse in opinions of how it taste or should taste and I'm very picky about pizza but I love Scotto it's the traditional pizza I'm talking about - their round pizza is perfectly made and they don't put on too much sauce - just enough and plenty of cheese. And actually I wouldn't order extra cheese otherwise you won't be able to eat it. They give you more than enough cheese. Interestingly, it was still hot when they delivered it which is usually not the case with other places it's usually warm at best. I recommend Scotto's highly!! read more

Scotto's has been a mainstay off of Route 33 in the Twin Rivers part of East Windsor for decades. I recall the pizza being decent when I used to occasionally work in the area, so I stopped by recently for lunch. The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious and well decorated. There's 3 areas with seating...the main pizzeria area as you enter, a dining room off to the right, and an outdoor patio area off to the left (looked inviting, but was closed despite it being a day with beautiful weather). I ordered a Brooklyn square pie, and also ordered garlic bread and a plain cheese slice so I could try a few different items out. The plain slice (2/5) must have been sitting out a while with the other slices. Even though it was heated up, it was not good by New Jersey pizza standards. A pool of grease had to be drained off. Despite parts of the crust being burnt, the slice was pretty floppy, with an ok hint of tomato in the sauce, and some of most flavorless cheese I've ever had on a plain slice. The garlic bread (1.5/5) was quite honestly the worst I've had in the state...they somehow managed to make the outside crispy while the interior being undercooked and mushy. The top had an unappetizing garlic oil spread which none of my dining companions liked...simply poor ingredients and lack of care in preparation. The Brooklyn square pie (3.5/5) was the saving grace of the meal. It had a decently flavorful tomato sauce and light crust accented with basil leaves, but once again, I was a little bit underwhelmed with the lack of flavor in the cheese. It was a 2.5 star experience at best, but rounding up for friendly employees and a welcoming interior. There's just way too many good pizzerias and Italian eateries in NJ, such that I probably won't be returning to Scotto's any time soon. This is one of the many businesses have chosen to pass credit card fees onto customers, so bring cash if you want to avoid paying a credit card surcharge. read more

I Have never written a review in my Long life. I went to Scotto's to get a cheesesteak and a slice of pizza. It was the best cheesesteak I ever had, and the Brooklyn slice was the best slice of pizza I ever had. The workers were friendly and happy. We LOVEEEEE scotto's!!! The chicken Caesar salad here is elite. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Connie is the best, she was so accommodating when I ordered a ton of food for a group of 25 youth. The kids loved the food, we got pizza, penne vodka pasta, chicken Cesar salad, hot and cold hoagies, meatballs, and more!! It was all delicious. Whenever I am in NJ, Scotto's is my go-to for pizza. We always either have the pizza delivered or pick it up. However, this Mother's Day, I took my mom to the Scotto's restaurant for sit down dinner. I watch the pizza be platted with no gloves, the counter wiped with the same cloth that the used to wipe plates, and one of the staff sat on the serving counter. It was pretty disgusting. There was no sanitation at all! I don't think I'll be going back any time soon. read more

Terrible experience. Ordered door dash delivery and they obv don't know how to use it. No delivery tracking. After 1.5 hours I call to check where my order is at, they confirm my name and address and let me know their delivery driver has it on the way. 5 minutes later I get an 'order cancelled' alert from door dash. They cancelled my order and when I called to ask, they tried to blame it on door dash which obv doesn't cancel orders. They don't know how to communicate either. Having Scotto's right around the corner used to be a godsend! The pizza and wraps are really good, fair price and convenient. However, Saturday night was my LAST meal -- which I didn't even eat. I usually get the grilled chicken wrap and pepperoni pizza. This last time, the chicken wrap was absolutely inedible. It was like they grilled, then microwaved or microwaved and then grilled the chicken. It was literally like rubber! Could not bite through it or chew it. I also ordered four slices of pizza. Now I totally understand if you're getting slices you're not getting a whole pie. These four slices looked like they had been sitting there for DAYS and they were delivered COLD. $35 literally in the trash. What a disappointment. They don't get another chance. I work too hard for my money to be "surprised" again. Shame -- I would eat there weekly. read more

I was disappointed with this pizza. Had it delivered after hearing good things about this place. We have been In Search for our pizza spot after moving to the East Windsor area. Maybe perhaps because we ordered 7pm ish on a Sunday? However I feel that if a place is open, then it should deliver with quality. We ordered a regular pizza and a taco pizza. Both were extremely undercooked and by the time it got to our house,( about a 45 min wait) they were cold. Unfortunately we were hopeful, but Scotto's will not be our regular pizza spot. read more
