Staying in Eustis for a bit and decided to head over to Tavares and check it out. It was definitely worth the trip! The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and was very clean. All the staff we interacted with were friendly. We were helped by Jada and she was amazing, she was attentive to our needs and made sure we had an enjoyable experience. The salsa was quite flavorful with just the right amount of spice. My chimichanga was perfect, I opted for the grilled chicken filling and it was tender and juicy. I've been going to this restaurant for over a year. The food is not bad, or great, but it is good enough to keep me interested and it helps that it is near home, so it is a great excuse for not cooking on Tuesdays (taco Tuesday). I go there so often that a few months ago, I was given this " loyalty program" card, which I don't always remember to bring with me, but it says that on my 11th visit, I would get $10 off my bill. Today, Tuesday, April 19th, I brought my card for my 11th visit punch and I was told by the manager that my $10 discount could not be used on a Tuesday, because of their discounted tacos on Tuesdays. Nowhere in this card, is states that the card can not be used on a Tuesday. My bill was $46 and the manager decided that it wasn't worth it for their business to honor my discount. So I guess that $46 dollars and a bad review are worth more than a $10 discount and a happy repeat customer. read more

I wanted to like this place but most everything went wrong. First, I was told combination meals came only with the same meat choice. Why? No chicken taco with beef enchilada? Next, I was brought 2 tacos with lots of tortilla but not much inside priced at $6.00 each. When I got the Bill they up charged $3.00 for lettuce, tomato and cheese. That's free in tacos with crispy shells but not for soft tacos. Why? When questioned the server said she had to charge extra but maybe next time she will mention that first. Next I was shorted $1.00 in change. When I inquired they asked if I wanted the dollar. No real apology. So I won't return and don't suggest anyone else does. read more

Do you have to even give it a star? It was horrible. The service sucked and we had to ask multiple times for our drinks. The food was served to us and I to force the issue of our drinks. Then the food came. The salsa was literally stewed tomatoes from the can and served as salsa. The queso dip tasted like they bought the tub at Walmart. My son in law had tacos and I was thinking it but my daughter blurted out his meat looked like wet dog food and it pretty much tasted like it too. My daughter had chicken fajitas. The beans tasted like they were from a can and you could still taste the metal. They were dry like they had been sitting around. The rice...oh lort! It was already in my mouth and I was stuck. My 4 yo granddaughter saw my face and was yelling at me to spit it in a napkin. I had a chicken dish with gravy. The gravy was already gelling when the plate was put down. The chicken for me and my daughter was dry and tasted like it was boiled and thrown on a grill to give the illusion. It is pricey and the food tastes like its from a can or frozen. Its a new restaurant in town so you know we had to try it. Unfortunately, if this place doesn't get their act together I don't think they're going to make it. Let me say, the food was good. I had the steeet taco dinner with barbacoa and no onions. My bf had the burrito. Both came with a serving of rice and beans. We had the egg rolls which were just like Chilis. Now, the bad. When we arrived there was a 10 minute wait. No biggie, but we later learned it was because the kitchen was behind and they were trying to catch up. The server was also the bartender. I asked her 2 questions. One was what Mexican non alcohol drinks they had. She didn't know. I asked her if they had. Mexican soda and they do so I ordered that. I asked if the barbacoa was the shredded beef and she said it was pork. Its the beef. I realize she's the bartender but these were two simple questions she should know the answers too. The draft wasn't pouring correctly. I guess it was fixable but she didn't want to deal with it. She said we'd have to wait for her to fix it so we opted for bottle. Everyone is entitled to an off day so I'll chalk it up to that. We were promptly given "salsa" and chips. I am almost certain it was heinzes canned roasted tomatoes. Now, for a place named Salsa, this is unacceptable. It was bland and very disappointing. You would think they would have perfected the salsa at a minimum. Maybe had a few options of salsas. Even store bought salsa has more flavor. We waited a little longer than we would have liked for drinks, refills, and of course our meals. When we received our plates my bf was handed his burrito and I was handed A taco. As in one. No rice or beans. Lol. Of course they apologized and brought my dinner of 3 tacos. Unfortunately this time they put onions on them. I was surprised there was no cheese but the barbacoa was very good. The ambiance was ok. Still feeling reminiscent of the Italian place it was before. I expected it to be bright and colorful but there wasn't much going on other than the lighting. They had a plant stand at the front with lots of cacti and succulents which I enjoyed as a plant lover. The beer was $2 which may have been the price for draft. The soda was $2.50. Tacos were $14 and the burrito $15. Overall I think the prices were reasonable. Their saving grace is the food was good. They're newer and have some other menu items I would like to try so we'll probably be back. Hopefully they'll be in their groove. read more

We wanted to give a good review for this New Mexican restaurant. Just couldn't they didn't pass the test! My husband and I wanted Mexican food but didn't want to got to fast food place! We waited for curbside pickup outside that wasn't to long. When got home and opened the containers we knew we had made a mistake choosing this place. My chimichanga was cold the refried beans look like some threw them up. Asked for shredded chicken got dried chopped chicken instead. Couldn't eat it just trashed it! My husband's taco salad had wilted lettuce no taste and very little black beans and a sliver of avocado! We will not ever go back New Chipotle down the road much better and fresher food. read more

I order enchiladas verdes all the time throughout Florida, I have never had them served to me with red sauce on the inside with the green sauce on the outside. When I questioned it, I was told that that is how it is served. I disagreed as I referred to their menu that indicated green sauce only in addition to my experience in other restaurants. Then ordered cheese enchiladas and chicken chimichangas. The 1st serving was barely warm and served on cold plates - sent back to the kitchen. 2nd attempt was a bit warmer (not hot) and served on (somewhat) warm plates. If the chimichangas were deep fried it was not apparent as they were merely soft un-browned flour tortillas wrapping flavorless chicken.. The cheese enchiladas were less than mediocre. The rice and beans were barely warm (again) and, as the rest of the meal - lacking flavor. So, if you are looking for less than par, bland, barely warm Mexican in name only food then this is the place for you! We will never return. On the bright side the beer is fairly priced! read more

We went there Saturday, we waited 30 mins for a table, no big deal. They had NO queso, NO hard tacos, we order 2 meals at $14+ each. One hour later received food (COLD). The taste was nasty. I told waiter I would not eat this. We requested the manager and they would not come to our table. We offered to pay for our drinks (soda), waiter said no charge and said good bye. Service was horrible. The waitperson never checked on us, and got our order wrong. We had to get up and find him to tell him about it. He then got it wrong a second time. We asked for the manager, and she told us that they didn't have the item we ordered - maybe the waitperson should have know that and told us. The most bizarre and disturbing part is the way she snickered when speaking to us, and told us to leave and never come back. Well we won't, and we would highly discourage others from going here. Tried this restaurant today. Ok but do not think I would go back. Tried mango mimosas, paid $5.00 for small wine glass that was only half full. Had to send first one back tasted like orange juice. went there yesterday and was greatly surprised at quality and taste of food. I have been looking for authentic Mexican food in this area and up until now have been disappointed with all selections. We have been driving to Orlando to find descent Mexican food, but alas no more! My only complaint, and it is a small one, is I love re-fried beans and rice as a side to my dishes....quantities given were pretty small for my appetite. They were fine for my wife's food intake. Prices however would allow me to order them on the side and not bust my wallet. I had steak fajitas, and my wife had chicken enchiladas....all very good. Personnel were very nice and very attentive to our needs. My bill was just over $30.00 and well worth it. NO more 40 mile trips to Orlando for good Mexican food. Thank you Salsa for opening up close to us. I am sure the menus will change to allow mixing different meats with enchiladas or mixing flour and corn tortillas for fajitas to make customer satisfaction that much better. read more
