Easily the best Mexican restaurant in southern maryland (and the dc 'burbs). The food is CHEAP--six bucks for a lunch combo gets you a ton of tacos, burritos, tamales, and rice and beans. Also, the manager never apologized to me, he just said, "Okay" and gave me a refund. Kind of suggests to me that this is a common occurrence. If you are looking for good Mexican Food you might look to another establishment. My wife and I went in and first off we wanted to try their Guacamole, since they advertise it as made to order. It reached our table and it was brown with salsa placed on top. We sent it back and received the second time what we should have received the first time. Minus the heat...they did not ask if we wanted any Jalapeño, so the Guacamole arrived with zero heat, which was a little disappointing, I guess I should have asked. Then I ordered the Fish Tacos, the price was $6.50 which was very reasonable but when they arrived they were REALLY over cooked, I mean just slightly under burnt, you know the look when you have placed something in the fryer at a temperature that's to high and it gets really dark brown, and hard, then to boot the Taco had cheddar cheese on it...who puts cheddar on their fish taco. I did not eat half of one taco and I pushed it to the side. If you are looking for a "fresh" lightly fried, freshly toped with a light coleslaw and garnished with a lime, Fish Taco....this isn't it. My wife had the fajitas, which was ok, but when I went to open up the tortillas which were wrapped in foil, the moisture from them being wrapped for a long time caused them all to stick together and I could not unroll them without major damage to the tortilla. On a good note the service was very good. ....The fish taco is a total disaster! They also might want to heat the tortillas as they go and not let them sit around to long wrapped in foil. read more

When we walked in, the host assigning tables had an attitude. He walked ahead of us, toss the menu on the table and said here is your table then walked away. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant around! For a school-age kid, you can't beat the prices and amount of food for them!! My favorite is the arroz con pollo (chicken and rice). If i could give zero stars i would. Absolutely disgusting and sexist place of business. I was refused an alcoholic beverage simply because i have a vertical ID. It is Maryland law to not serve alcohol to someone with a Maryland vertical ID , yes. But mine is a Florida ID and I'm 22 years of age. After a confusing back and forth discussion with the serve, who barely spoke English, The manager came over and told me that there is a sign at the front about vertical IDs and said "YOU don't get mad me" and walked away. He was so disrespectful and sexist towards my mother and I like we were dumb women. We left before we even ordered food. While paying for our bill at the front i asked where the sign was about vertical IDs. It was high on the wall not clearly visible when walking in and very blurry to read. I pointed out that it only mentions Maryland IDs. I said well mine is a Florida ID. The register girl was even worse then the manager. She said "well we're in Maryland". I said "yes I'm aware of that but I've been served countless times in this state. It's not my fault your staff doesn't know how to read a real ID" we went back and forth. She had a horrendous attitude from the very beginning. I don't even remember what all was said because I'm in such disbelief of this encounter. At the very end I was given the MIDDLE FINGER from this register girl as I left. I'm in complete shock of their behavior and I do not recommend this place to anyone who expects even a limited amount of basic hospitality. read more

Salsas is a breath of fresh air here in the Leonardtown area. I have yet to find another restaurant that is as passionate about their food. My fiance and I went to Salsa's for the first time this evening after her father suggested it to us. The food was excellent. The portions were enormous (I'm a big eater, and I brought home more left overs than I ate). The prices were more than reasonable. The service was ATROCIOUS. Possibly the worst service I have ever had. We had at least 5 different people help us because, as best I could tell, the section of the restaurant we were seated in was immediately closed (this was before 9PM on a Saturday night mind you) after we were shown to our table. No amount of eye contact or standing up and looking around making it very clear that we were in need of service after our meals were dropped off was responded to-- plenty of employees saw us, in fact several breezed past the table too fast to be stopped, but nobody responded until we got up and went searching for help. My fiance went to the front of the restaurant to the hostess stand, to no avail, so I took my turn heading to the back of the house where I finally found several employees sitting at the bar eating their dinner. One of them was kind enough to stop eating and seek out someone else not currently eating to bring us a couple boxes and literally drop off our check. My fiance had her credit card waiting by then but the waiter literally dropped the check on the table without even stopping as he walked by and called over his shoulder "pay up front" when my fiance protested that we were ready (up front being the place that we had already determined was unmanned in our previous excursion to find assistance). My fiance walked up there, finding it once again deserted, then went back to the bar where she was again sent to the front of the house, but after she protested that she'd already tried up front someone took pity on her and allowed her to pay. All in all the experience left us rather sad. Like I said, the food was good and the prices were very reasonable, but the service was so horrible that we don't really want to go back. The Enchiladas Supremo is just $7.75 for four tasty enchiladas! (Beef, chicken, cheese and bean). The beef fajitas were delicious but a few too many green peppers for our taste. They give you a lot of food for your money but the food is lacking a little flavor. Needs a little salt and pepper for my tastes. The steak doesn't tastes like real steak, more like ground beef.
